VSEZ organises blood donation camp
Visakhapatnam: Marking the 'World Blood Donor Day', Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone (VSEZ) organised a blood donation camp on Monday.
The camp was held in association with Life Share Blood Bank. Zonal Development Commissioner, Visakhapatnam Special Economic Zone Srinivas Muppaala inaugurated the blood donation camp at VSEZ and administered the blood donor pledge.
Later, Srinivas Muppaala volunteered to donate blood, encouraging other senior officers and staff and the unit heads to contribute to the cause. The camp focused on maximising participation and registrations of voluntary blood donors.
Addressing the gathering, Srinivas Muppaala, informed that the World Blood Donor Day was observed to raise awareness about the need for safe blood and to thank voluntary blood donors for their life-saving contributions. A total of 40 units of blood was collected on the occasion and handed over to the blood bank.

Nandyal: Children suffering from thalassemia in the district can now avail free blood through the Red Cross Blood Bank, announced District Collector G Raja Kumari. The facility aims to provide timely and life-saving support to children battling this chronic condition. On Monday, the Collector visited the blood storage unit located within the premises of the KC Canal Executive Engineer's Office to review its functioning. During the inspection, Red Cross Chairman Dastagiri, Treasurer Nageswara Rao, Lab Technician Ramesh Babu, and Coordinator Abdul Samee were present. Speaking on the occasion, she stated that thalassemia-affected children who register at the district-level blood bank will receive blood at no cost. Highlighting the significance of World Blood Donor Day observed on June 14, she said that the blood bank has been stocked with whole blood and packed cells to commemorate the occasion and serve emergency requirements. urged individuals in need to make use of the available services. During the visit, the Collector closely examined essential equipment including the freezer, incubator, and hot air oven. She interacted with staff to assess their operational status and instructed that these machines should be utilized to their full capacity. Furthermore, she stressed the importance of conducting training programs related to first aid and emergency care at the center. She also suggested planting shade-giving trees within the premises to enhance the environment.

Homage to AI 171 victims: GMCH doctors, staff, guards donate 188 units of blood
Nagpur: Doctors, staff, security guards at the Govt Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in the city and volunteers donated 188 units of blood during a camp organised to commemorate World Blood Donor Day on Saturday (June 14) and to pay respect to the victims of AI 171 plane crash at the Ahmedabad's BJ Medical College hostel. Later, as BJMC Ahmedabad informed GMCH here that the existing voluntary donations are sufficient for the patients there, the collected blood has been retained by the GMCH blood bank for future requirements. The drive saw participation from medical professionals as well as the public. In the evening, a candlelight march began from the residential hostel and concluded at Oval Garden on the GMCH premises, with participants walking in silence. The initiative by GMCH Nagpur reflected an expression of unity and support for the air crash victims' families. Multiple bodies including Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors and others participated in the drive. Resident doctors said they were overwhelmed to see the response to the blood donation drive. "The donated blood would now come handy during the treatment of our patients," said the doctors.
