The prime minister has assigned Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Chairman of the NDMA, to arrange two chartered aircrafteach carrying 100 tons of essential supplieswithin the next two days. The aid includes urgently needed rations and sustenance items for communities in distress.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, alongside senior NDMA officials, will oversee the departure of the flights from Islamabad.

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs on Monday approved its first-ever ferry service licence to an international ferry operator, Sea Keepers, authorising the company to operate routes connecting Pakistan with Iran and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, according to a statement. The approval followed a high-level meeting of the Licensing Committee, comprising officials from Maritime Affairs, Defence, Foreign Affairs, and Interior ministries, along with representatives from the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation and Port & Shipping authorities. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, hailed the move as a historic step aligned with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's vision and Pakistan's National Maritime Policy. The minister noted that the ferry service will alleviate pressure on land routes and reduce travel costs compared to air transport for the Pakistani diaspora and religious travellers. 'Initial operations will commence from the ports of Karachi and Gwadar using modern ferry vessels equipped with essential amenities to ensure safe, affordable travel. Expansion of routes and port calls is planned based on demand and bilateral agreements,' he added. This ferry service launch forms part of Pakistan's broader strategy to develop its blue economy, improve trade logistics, and promote maritime tourism, reflecting a renewed commitment to sustainable regional sea transport infrastructure, the minister stated.

He was received by Governor Syed Mehdi Shah, who briefed him on the scale of destruction caused by persistent rainfall, including landslides and flooding. Expressing sorrow over the losses, the prime minister said Gilgit-Baltistan had suffered significant damage due to extreme weather events. He reiterated that Pakistan is among the countries most severely affected by climate change, despite contributing minimally to global carbon emissions. Shehbaz stressed that the impacts of climate change are intensifying each year and called for urgent, effective measures to combat them. He said the Ministry of Climate Change has been directed to take immediate action. Declaring the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) a key national institution, he noted that federal agencies are working closely with the Gilgit-Baltistan government to accelerate relief and rescue operations. The prime minister also received a ground-level briefing on the situation and was informed of the status of ongoing development projects in the region, as well as efforts by the local administration to manage the crisis. The meeting discussed the launch of a Danish school in Gilgit-Baltistan, with PM Shehbaz confirming that the project would soon be implemented to enhance educational standards. Thousands of essential relief items, including tents, hygiene kits, food packs and de-watering pumps, have been dispatched to affected communities. Medical teams have treated hundreds across 71 emergency camps. From August 4 onward, a fresh monsoon wave is expected to intensify, raising the risk of flash floods, landslides and glacial lake outburst floods in vulnerable regions.

Separately, Islamabad has strongly condemned the provocative and deeply offensive desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque by thousands of Israeli settlers, including senior ministers, officials, and Knesset members, under the protection of Israeli occupying forces. In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan said the presence and statements of senior Israeli officials, and the repugnant declaration that 'the Temple Mount is ours,' are a dangerous and deliberate attempt to provoke religious sentiments across the world, escalate tensions, and alter the status of Al-Aqsa Mosque. He said Israel's expansionist attempts are a deliberate effort to destabilize the region and sabotage any meaningful path to peace. These provocations risk igniting a catastrophic spiral of violence across the region. The spokesperson emphasized that the world must not remain silent in the face of such systemic, illegal, inhumane, and unlawful aggression. Such actions constitute a blatant violation of international human rights and humanitarian laws, the UN Charter, as well as various UN and OIC resolutions. He urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to take immediate and concrete steps to hold Israel accountable for its illegal actions and to protect the religious sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the rights of the Palestinian people, in particular the right to self-determination. Earlier, Israeli airstrikes continued in Gaza, and far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir led prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem, sparking condemnation from regional powers. Ben-Gvir was among approximately 1,250 individuals who prayed at the site under Israeli military protection. The compound, known to Jews as the Temple Mount, holds deep religious significance—being the holiest site in Judaism and the third holiest in Islam. It remains under Jordanian custodianship, and a longstanding agreement permits Jewish visits but prohibits prayer.
