UFC on ABC 8 video: Jamahal Hill, Khalil Rountree have first faceoff of fight week
Jamahal Hill and Khalil Rountree faced off for the first time ahead of their light heavyweight clash at UFC on ABC 8.
Former UFC champion Hill (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) meets Rountree (13-6 MMA, 9-6 UFC) in Saturday's main event (ABC, ESPN, ESPN+) at Crystal Palace Hall in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Both fighters are coming off recent stoppage losses to former UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira. Check out their cordial faceoff, which took place Tuesday morning in Baku.
After getting knocked out by Pereira at UFC 300, Hill finds himself on his first-career losing skid after suffering a TKO loss to Jiri Prochazka at UFC 311 in January. Meanwhile, Rountree hasn't competed since getting finished in a bloody, back-and-forth battle against Pereira at UFC 307 last October.

Linebacker JP Peace, grandson of Phillip Fulmer, commits to Volunteers

The grandson of national champion head coach and former Tennessee Volunteers athletic director Phillip Fulmer is the Vols' first commitment in the Class of 2027. Linebacker J.P. Peace, a rising high school junior, announced his commitment to Tennessee via social media on Monday. Peace's grandfather won six SEC East titles and the 1998 national championship with the Vols, compiling a 152-52 record over 17 seasons. Fulmer was also the school's athletic director from 2017-21. Peace's father, Robert Peace, is also connected to Tennessee football, having played linebacker for the Volunteers from 2000-03. "Naturally, Tennessee was the leading school for him," Robert Peace told ESPN. "We encouraged him to visit other places and he did that. But Tennessee was the place for him and not just because of the family legacy here." J.P. Peace, who is not currently ranked by ESPN or 247Sports, is a 6-foot-3, 215-pound linebacker at Knoxville West High School, located less than three miles from the university. "I mean, it's really going to be, like, an unreal experience knowing that I'm following in my dad's footsteps a little bit in that way," J.P. Peace told GoVols247. "I'm excited to do that." He reportedly held offers from Florida State, Kentucky, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt. "He's very high on (inside linebackers) coach William Inge," the elder Peace said. "He's done a great job recruiting JP, and we believe he's not only going to make him a better player, but a better person for after football. So that had a big impact on this decision to do this this early." --Field Level Media Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved

Caitlin Clark's return against the New York Liberty becomes third-most viewed WNBA game on ABC

The Indiana Fever's victory over the defending WNBA Champions New York Liberty on Saturday became the third most-watched WNBA game on ABC. In Caitlin Clark's return after missing five games, the Fever derailed the Liberty's 10-0 start, handing them their first loss of the season. On Tuesday, ESPN PR shared that the Fever's 102-88 win had an average of 2.2 million viewers and peaked at 2.8 million viewers. The numbers represent a 76% increase from last season's average views on ABC, as WNBA ratings have risen 17% from last year across ESPN. Advertisement With the feat, Clark now holds a place in two of the top three most-watched WNBA games on ABC. The Fever's showdown with Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky in May has the most views, with a 2.7 million average and a 3.1 million peak. With Clark and Sophie Cunningham back in the lineup, the Fever shut down the then-undefeated champions. Clark showed no signs of rust, making six threes for 25 points before halftime. Her first-half performance proved too much for the Liberty and set the table as Clark exacted revenge on Breanna Stewart and Co. Clark sustained the injury in a 90-88 loss to New York in May but returned with flying colors against the same team. After the Fever went 2-3 without her, Clark exploded in front of a packed Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Advertisement In her return, the former Iowa star shined with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Clark also made seven of her 14 attempts from beyond the arc as the Liberty struggled to close the gap in Indiana. Clark's incredible performance helped Indiana move to a 5-5 record while the Liberty moved to 9-1. The Fever will take on the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. ET.
