Caitlin Clark's return against the New York Liberty becomes third-most viewed WNBA game on ABC
The Indiana Fever's victory over the defending WNBA Champions New York Liberty on Saturday became the third most-watched WNBA game on ABC. In Caitlin Clark's return after missing five games, the Fever derailed the Liberty's 10-0 start, handing them their first loss of the season.
On Tuesday, ESPN PR shared that the Fever's 102-88 win had an average of 2.2 million viewers and peaked at 2.8 million viewers. The numbers represent a 76% increase from last season's average views on ABC, as WNBA ratings have risen 17% from last year across ESPN.

With the feat, Clark now holds a place in two of the top three most-watched WNBA games on ABC. The Fever's showdown with Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky in May has the most views, with a 2.7 million average and a 3.1 million peak.
With Clark and Sophie Cunningham back in the lineup, the Fever shut down the then-undefeated champions. Clark showed no signs of rust, making six threes for 25 points before halftime. Her first-half performance proved too much for the Liberty and set the table as Clark exacted revenge on Breanna Stewart and Co.
Clark sustained the injury in a 90-88 loss to New York in May but returned with flying colors against the same team. After the Fever went 2-3 without her, Clark exploded in front of a packed Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

In her return, the former Iowa star shined with 32 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Clark also made seven of her 14 attempts from beyond the arc as the Liberty struggled to close the gap in Indiana.
Clark's incredible performance helped Indiana move to a 5-5 record while the Liberty moved to 9-1. The Fever will take on the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, with tip-off set for 7 p.m. ET.

Red Sox fans who bought Rafael Devers jersey recently may be able to trade it in. Here's how.
The Boston Red Sox sent star designated hitter Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants just hours after he hit a home run against the rival New York Yankees on Sunday. Some fans undoubtedly bought a Rafael Devers jersey during the Sox series sweep of the Yanks. Now, what do those fans do? "I did I once buy an Adrian Gonzalez jersey, and proudly wore it for one day, and he got traded. At the same time, my daughter bought a Carl Crawford jersey, and he was shortly thereafter traded," said Steve Shapiro, a Red Sox fan from New Jersey. "If I had bought a Rafael Devers jersey then I would gladly return it at this point because he wasn't willing to cooperate with the team." Jersey Assurance policy It turns out, has a jersey assurance policy. If you buy a jersey, and a player is traded within 90 days of buying it, you can make a claim within 14 days of the trade. This doesn't apply if the player is cut, retired, suspended, injured, or incarcerated. "I am learning about it now, and it's a good thing to know," said Shapiro. After sending in your outdated Devers jersey, they will let you either choose the jersey of a different player on the Red Sox or send you a Devers jersey in his new Giants threads. Rafael Devers jersey for sale at Fenway Park CBS Boston "I had a coworker who just last week bought a Rafael Devers jersey phone case," said Red Sox fan Aidan Fink. "He also said his past two dogs were named Lester and Bogey. There is something cursed about Boston fans." While it may be tough to teach the dogs new names, those fans with outdated home jerseys may have a leg up. They don't have names on the back. "The one jersey I have a is a Xander Bogaerts jersey with a '2' and no name on the back. I guess I could translate that to an Alex Bregman jersey right now," laughed Fink. Here's to hoping the Sox sign a new number 11.

Rafael Devers ready to put Boston situation behind and start fresh in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO — Rafael Devers strolled into the clubhouse side-by-side with home run king Barry Bonds, a fellow left-handed slugger who San Francisco's new big hitter has long admired from afar. 'I think just looking at him my game has already improved a lot,' Devers joked as he was formally introduced by the Giants on Tuesday, when he was set to be designated hitter batting third in the series opener against the Cleveland Guardians. Devers is determined to leave his own lasting mark on the franchise in what is a much-needed fresh start for him and a monumental mid-season acquisition for Buster Posey and San Francisco's front office. And whatever went wrong in Boston , Devers is done discussing any issues he had with the Red Sox and eager to move forward across the country with the Giants. 'That's in the past now, I'm looking ahead and focusing on what I have here being a San Francisco Giant,' Devers said. 'I'm eager to go out there and play and see what I can do.' With a bright smile to match his bright new No. 16 jersey, Devers insisted he will play anywhere and do whatever manager Bob Melvin and his staff ask. 'I really like his answers by the way,' said Posey, in his first year as president of baseball operations. The Giants will take on a mega contract after Devers signed a new $331 million, 11-year deal in January 2023. He joins several other stars here with long-term contracts — shortstop Willy Adames has a seven-year, $182 million deal and third baseman Matt Chapman at $151 million over six years through 2030 — as Posey builds a roster he expects will compete for another World Series championship, like the ones the Giants won with him as their star catcher in 2010, '12 and '14. San Francisco last made the playoffs in 2021, when it won a franchise-record 107 games and edged the rival Dodgers for the NL West title on the final day. 'I think this organization has talent, they have won championships. I am here to play, to win and to win a championship,' Devers said through an interpreter. Posey thanked ownership for its willingness to go for it and traded for Devers to boost a club that has lacked power and struggled to score runs for extended stretches this year. The trade announced Sunday came together in the past few weeks after countless hours and conversations. 'I think the persistence really paid off,' chairman Greg Johnson said. While the Giants will gradually get Devers up to speed playing the field again since he has strictly been a DH this year, they know he has plenty of mentors eager to help. Devers was scheduled to do some fielding work at first base, the very position he didn't want to play after losing his spot at third when the Red Sox signed Alex Bregman to a $120 million, three-year contract in February to be their third baseman — the spot where Devers made 130 starts last year. 'When you have a guy like Barry Bonds around, arguably the greatest hitter of all-time, it's an added benefit for sure,' Posey said. It will only be a matter of days before Devers' first reunion with the Red Sox, who visit Oracle Park for a weekend series. He was batting .271 with 14 home runs and 57 RBIs over 72 games as Boston's primary DH. When asked what the differences will be as he begins anew, Devers noted: 'It's the same baseball. I'm here to give my 100%.' The 28-year-old Devers hadn't been thrilled with the idea of playing first base in Boston but thanked the people who cheered him, calling them 'great fans who supported me my whole time there.' After all the fanfare of his introduction and receiving his jersey in front of most of his teammates, who made time to be at his news conference before doing their pregame routines, Devers got to work. 'The Giants brought me here for a reason and I will give 100%,' he said. 'I'm now happy to be part of the team.' ___ AP MLB:

Latest ESPN NBA Mock Draft has Jase Richardson landing just outside lottery
Latest ESPN NBA Mock Draft has Jase Richardson landing just outside lottery The NBA Draft is just over a week away so where will Michigan State star Jase Richardson land? ESPN's latest mock draft suggests it'll be just outside of the lottery. ESPN released an updated NBA Mock Draft on Tuesday, which pegged Richardson to be selected just outside of the lottery. This latest mock draft from ESPN has Richardson going No. 16 overall to the Memphis Grizzlies -- who just acquired this pick from the Orlando Magic in a trade. Jonathan Givony had this to say about Richardson and the Grizzlies pairing: "The Grizzlies are exactly the type of team that could be interested in an ultra-efficient, productive young prospect such as Richardson, who rates highly in draft models that analytics-savvy teams like Memphis often pay attention to. "Richardson possesses an excellent feel for the game, hit 41% of his 3-pointers this season, brings strong defensive intensity and looks adept at playing off the star power of a teammate like Ja Morant, whose future in Memphis is to be determined. As Richardson's shot-creation diversity and offensive aggressiveness evolve, he could be someone who eventually inherits more significant ballhandling responsibilities, if the Grizzlies decide to pivot toward a youth movement." Richardson has widely been considered a fringe-lottery pick after starring for the Spartans in his lone season in college. He averaged 12.1 points per game and shot above 40% from three-point range, which quickly turned him into an NBA first round projection. The NBA Draft will be held on June 25 and 26, with the first round taking place on Wednesday and second round on Thursday. The draft will be televised on ABC and ESPN.
