Latest ESPN NBA Mock Draft has Jase Richardson landing just outside lottery
The NBA Draft is just over a week away so where will Michigan State star Jase Richardson land? ESPN's latest mock draft suggests it'll be just outside of the lottery.
ESPN released an updated NBA Mock Draft on Tuesday, which pegged Richardson to be selected just outside of the lottery. This latest mock draft from ESPN has Richardson going No. 16 overall to the Memphis Grizzlies -- who just acquired this pick from the Orlando Magic in a trade.
Jonathan Givony had this to say about Richardson and the Grizzlies pairing:
"The Grizzlies are exactly the type of team that could be interested in an ultra-efficient, productive young prospect such as Richardson, who rates highly in draft models that analytics-savvy teams like Memphis often pay attention to.
"Richardson possesses an excellent feel for the game, hit 41% of his 3-pointers this season, brings strong defensive intensity and looks adept at playing off the star power of a teammate like Ja Morant, whose future in Memphis is to be determined. As Richardson's shot-creation diversity and offensive aggressiveness evolve, he could be someone who eventually inherits more significant ballhandling responsibilities, if the Grizzlies decide to pivot toward a youth movement."
Richardson has widely been considered a fringe-lottery pick after starring for the Spartans in his lone season in college. He averaged 12.1 points per game and shot above 40% from three-point range, which quickly turned him into an NBA first round projection.
The NBA Draft will be held on June 25 and 26, with the first round taking place on Wednesday and second round on Thursday. The draft will be televised on ABC and ESPN.

One team that has been thrown around is the Houston Rockets. Of all the teams rumored to be in the mix, the Rockets can likely offer the Suns one of the better, if not the best, packages in exchange for the 15-time All-Star. "The Rockets have offered Jalen Green and Jabari Smith for Kevin Durant but the Suns don't want Jalen Green," said Gambadoro. It could be argued that, of any player throughout the NBA Playoffs, Jalen Green's stock took a hit more than anybody. After averaging 21 points per game in the regular season, he averaged 13.28 per game in the seven-game series against the Golden State Warriors. That number is misleading. Green exploded for 38 points in Game 2, but was held under 15 points in the other six games and scored in the single digits four times. His style of play alongside Devin Booker and Bradley Beal would be questionable at best. It remains to be seen if the Suns have their eyes on a different player or are eying more draft compensation. Sports Seriously Former NFL All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman was formally charged with DUI in connection to his February 2024 arrest, according to an ESPN report. Sherman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked into the King County Correctional Facility in Seattle in the early morning of Feb. 24, 2024, according to jail records previously obtained by USA TODAY Sports. Citing the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, ESPN reported officials had been awaiting blood-test results from the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab taken the night of the arrest. It was received June 16, which showed Sherman had a blood alcohol level around 0.11, higher than the state's legal limit of 0.08. Richard Sherman DUI arrest details According to documents, Sherman was pulled over just before 2 a.m. local time after a Washington State Patrol officer reported he was driving above the speed limit and veering on a highway in Renton, about 12 miles southeast of Seattle. Officers reportedly noticed an "odor of intoxicants" from Sherman's breath. He allegedly refused a breath test at the scene and was taken to a hospital for a blood draw before he was booked. The DUI charge is a gross misdemeanor charge, ESPN said, and it includes an enhancement for refusing a breath test. Sherman will be arraigned June 30. Sherman was previously had been arrested for driving under the influence following an incident in July 2021 in Redmond, Washington. Police said Sherman crashed his SUV in a construction zone and tried to break into his in-laws' home. He pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of first-degree negligent driving and second-degree criminal trespass related to the incident in a plea bargain in March 2022. A five-time Pro Bowler, Sherman played 11 seasons in the NFL. Seven of those seasons were spent with the Seattle Seahawks, as he was part of the famed "Legion of Boom" unit that anchored one of the top defenses in the league.
