Sabah Governor calls for transparent probe into Zara Qairina's death
KOTA KINABALU (Aug 11): The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah, Tuan Yang Terutama Tun Datuk Seri Panglima (Dr) Musa Haji Aman, has directed the relevant authorities to carry out a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir.
In a statement issued by Istana Seri Kinabalu today, the Governor stressed that the investigation must be conducted with the utmost diligence, without fear or favour, and guided solely by the pursuit of truth and justice.
'No stone must be left unturned. Seeking justice is not vengeance, it is the fulfilment of Allah's command to protect the weak and punish the wrongdoer,' the statement read.
The Governor also urged the public, particularly social media users, to refrain from speculation, spreading unfounded accusations, or promoting conspiracy theories related to the case, as such actions could jeopardise the integrity of the investigation and cause further emotional distress to Zara's grieving family.
The Palace called on the public to allow due process to take its course and to stand in solidarity with the family as they seek answers and closure.
Extending heartfelt condolences to the family, Tun Musa and Toh Puan Faridah expressed their deep sadness over the tragic loss.
'May they find strength and solace amidst this unimaginable grief,' the statement read.
A Majlis Tahlil and state-level prayer gathering for the late Zara will be held on Thursday, Aug 14, at the Masjid Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu, as well as in all mosques and surau throughout Sabah.
Tun Musa encouraged Muslims to join the event and invited non-Muslims to pray for Zara in their own respective ways.
'The safety and well-being of our children must always remain our highest priority,' the Governor emphasised.
'May Allah grant Allahyarhamah Zara a place in the gardens of paradise, and may He grant us the courage to protect every other child so that no more innocent lives are lost unnecessarily,' the statement read. investigation lead Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman Zara Qairina Mahathir
