Sky TV to face new rival as Freely finally launches its own streaming box
Freely currently allows UK households to ditch the need for an aerial, but it does require a new TV - however, that is all set to change with the launch of a new set-top box

Sky already provides a plethora of streaming options, including its comprehensive Glass TV and compact Stream box that can be connected to any existing television. With a vast array of premium channels and personalised recommendations, Sky's offerings are hard to rival.

However, a new contender is set to challenge Sky's dominance. Freely, launched last year, currently allows UK households to stream live TV for free on new televisions equipped with this built-in service. Once connected, these screens simply link to the internet, providing access to live channels via broadband instead of an aerial.

It's a straightforward way to access content, but until now, it has necessitated purchasing a new television.

Fortunately, this is about to change, reports the Mirror.
Freely, which is actually managed by the same team behind Freeview, has announced the launch of a new set-top box that will bring its platform to any television already owned by UK households.
This puts it in direct competition with Sky's Stream box.

The device, manufactured by Netgem, will be available later this year, offering full access to over 40 live channels without the need for an aerial.
Freely's box is set to be a game-changer with features like a full TV guide, a Mini Guide for current and upcoming shows, personalised recommendations, the ability to pause live TV, and seven-day rewind capability to catch up on past broadcasts.
Freely also commits to regular, automatic updates to enhance its features, channels, and content continuously.

A key advantage over services like Sky is that after purchasing the Freely device, viewers can enjoy content without any subscription fees.
Jonathan Thompson, CEO of Everyone TV, commented on the launch: "Freely was created to make free TV work for everyone. Expanding to 'plug-in and stream' devices is an important and natural next step to ensure even more homes can enjoy the full Freely experience without the need for a TV upgrade or paid subscription."
Sylvain Thevenot, Managing Director of Netgem U.K., said: "Netgem is delighted to introduce the first Freely streaming device to the market with Everyone TV.

"This innovation represents a game-changer for viewers who seek a streamlined TV and entertainment experience delivered over Wi-Fi.
"The integration of Freely with Netgem's entertainment service positions this streaming puck as the optimal choice for all households and breathes a second life to all TV sets at an affordable price."

Best integrated fridge freezers that blend in seamlessly with your kitchen

Best for: Food longevity, lower electricity The numero uno global major appliance brand for the past 16 years, Haier has a reputation as solid as a concrete elephant when it comes to white goods, so you know firmly where you stand when it comes to the reliability of its innovative fridge freezers. The Integrated ID Titanium Series 6, being the only built-in Haier model available in the UK, made it an easy choice, but its uniqueness in this market is far from the only reason it should command your consideration. A 70/30 split model (that's 70 per cent fridge, 30 per cent freezer), the Haier currently skims in at a shade under £1000, for which you get a total internal capacity of 268 litres, with a 128l and an 86l freezer, which should prove ample space for the weekly shop. A 'Total No Frost' number, you'll never have to waste time and effort de-icing or stanning away at blocks of ice build up with a kitchen knife, while 'ABT Pro' removes 99.99 per cent of mould and bacteria from the airflow, obliterating odours and preventing airborne cross-contamination, keeping your comestibles fresher and free from the nasty stuff that lurks unseen. Also on that score comes 'Air Surround', which distributes cool air more evenly to keep food from drying out. Add to this three capacious fridge shelves, plus two 'zone' drawers, one for fruit and veg and the other capable of independent temp control depending on what you're storing, five door shelves, three freezer drawers and – wait for – an energy efficiency of an almost unheard of 'C', and the Haier Integrated ID Titanium Series 6 HBW7518CTK not only saves your food, it also saves you money-pounds-cash on those ever-increasing leccy bills, meaning you can feast on fresher food for longer and still stick it to 'the man' while you do! Finally, it is Wi-Fi-enabled, so you can hook it up to the Haier hOn app to monitor performance remotely. The Series 6 is easy to fit, with 'one-tool' installation, so you can have your cabinet doors fixed to the front in just 15 minutes, meaning the Haier will be hidden from sight. Key specs

Air coolers use water evaporation to cool the air, while air conditioners utilise a refrigerant-based system to cool and dehumidify. Alternatively, those who want to really splash out might want to upgrade to an actual air conditioner. There's this Argo air conditioner for £270 from Appliances Direct. There's also this £320 powerful Atmos air conditioner that has a built-in heat pump for when it gets cooler in the winter as well. There are no reviews about the product on the Wowcher site, but Wowcher does offer 14-day returns for those who aren't happy. There are also great reviews of Wowcher on Trustpilot. One reviewer said:" It was very simple and straightforward to purchase. The description of the item I've purchased was clear. I price-matched the items, and Wowcher was a far better price, so I'm very happy. Thank you." Another shopper said: "Lots to choose from at great prices, I have used Wowcher a few times and never had an issue." Not everyone was happy, however, with some people have been having issues with customer service and ordering. They said: "All WhatsApp help was very good, but when reordering a tablet with credit, it gave me nowhere to reorder my gift wrap and I found all ordering info complicated. "Also it doesn't tell you properly how to contact them and it was only when I looked up on Google, how to contact Wowcher that I found out the best way was on WhatsApp and the details were there."
