Minister inaugurates ₹12 crore biomining project in Anantapur
The initiative was launched under Anantapur cluster, which covers six urban civic bodies, with a target of clearing 1.68 lakh tonnes of legacy waste and converting 12.3 acre yard into a public park. The Minister also unveiled plaques for new roads and drains at ₹2 crore and took part in a plantation drive.
Later, addressing a public meeting, Mr. Narayana said that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu-led government had scrapped the garbage collection tax which was introduced by the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government.
'The State government had set a target to clear 85 lakh tonnes of legacy waste State-wide by October 2. We have already cleared 50 lakh tonnes as of now. Anantapur holds 1.65 lakh tonnes of leftover garbage. Efforts are underway to clear four to six thousand tonnes daily,' Mr. Narayana said, directing the officials to turn the site into a green lung space soon.
He said that women in the State could travel free in the APSRTC buses from August 15. 'We are bound to deliver every poll promise to the people,' he added.
The Minister said that the Amrut scheme was under brisk progress with ₹8,500 crore allocated to provide tap water connections to every house in the State in the next couple of years. He said that the areas of Anantapur municipal corporation, Tadipatri, Guntakal, Rayadurgam, Gooty, and Kalyandurg municipalities would be covered under the programme.
Local MLA D. Venkateswara Prasad said that the project could bring a solution to three decades old problem in Anantapur district, and alleged that the previous YSRCP government mishandled the funds from the Central government.
Collector V. Vinod Kumar and senior officials from the government departments and cadre of the Coalition parties took part in the programme.

Singapore: Minister for municipal administration and urban development, Ponguru Narayana, is currently on an extensive tour of Singapore, diligently studying various aspects crucial for the development of Amaravati. In the morning, he focused on waste management practices in Singapore. Officials briefed him on the measures taken by the Singaporean government for solid waste management, and the Minister inspected vehicles used for waste transportation. He closely observed the process of collecting waste using modern technology and its transfer to waste-to-energy plants. The Andhra Pradesh government is reportedly considering establishing similar units in the state for the scientific processing of chicken waste. Later, the minister met representatives of the Singapore Land Transport Authority. This authority oversees surface transport facilities, infrastructure development, and road construction in Singapore, as well as public transport systems, walking tracks, and cycling paths. Officials provided Minister Narayana with a detailed overview of Singapore's current transportation network. The Andhra Pradesh government plans to construct roads, walking, and cycling tracks in Amaravati, similar to Singapore's model, and the Minister gathered crucial details regarding these constructions. In the afternoon, Narayana and CRDA commissioner Kannababu held discussions with officials at the Singapore Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA). The URA plays a pivotal role in Singapore's development by making crucial decisions, designing government buildings, and overseeing land management. The authority has also formulated a master plan for Singapore's development for the next 15 years. Narayana also visited the JTC Poultry Processing Hub in Singapore, which stands as the city-state's first one-stop poultry processing unit. He studied the entire process, from live chicken handling to processing, packing, and delivery. He also observed units that produce other products from chicken waste, an area the Andhra Pradesh government is keen to explore for scientific waste processing in the state. In the evening, he visited the iconic Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, renowned for its massive vertical gardens. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is prioritising beautification in Amaravati, and mjinister Narayana decided to consider incorporating the concept of Singapore's vertical gardens into Amaravati's beautification plans. Minister Narayana is scheduled to continue his visit in Singapore on Friday before departing for Malaysia in the evening.

Jagan alleges ‘undeclared emergency' in state
Nellore: YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the TDP-led coalition government of creating an undeclared emergency-like situation in the state by misusing police to file false cases against opposition leaders. During a one-day tour in Nellore district, Jagan visited former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy at Nellore central prison to offer support and later met the family of former Kovur MLA Nallapureddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy at their residence in Sujathamma Colony. While Govardhana Reddy is in jail for his role in illegal mining, Prasanna Kumar Reddy is facing criminal charges for making derogatory comments against Kovuru MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy. Addressing the media, Jagan warned Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu of 'severe consequences' for promoting vindictive politics, including orchestrating attacks on opposition leaders' homes. 'Criticism is common in politics, but sending armed mobs to attack Prasanna Kumar Reddy's house is clear evidence of the TDP's 'red book constitution' in Andhra Pradesh,' he said. Jagan questioned the government's deployment of a large police force, road blockades, and unprecedented restrictions to prevent people from meeting him. He accused Naidu of using these tactics to divert attention from unfulfilled election promises. The YSRCP chief alleged that Naidu derives 'sadistic pleasure' by filing false cases to keep opposition leaders, including Kakani Govardhan Reddy, in jail for extended periods. AP in a state of emergency, alleges Jagan; TDP hits back
Tirupati: Former chief minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Thursday alleged that Andhra Pradesh is in a "state of emergency" due to the "autocratic and undemocratic practices" of the NDA govt. The YSRCP chief, who met former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy at Nellore central prison, slammed the govt for targeting YSRCP leaders and intimidate the opposition. Criticising the TDP-led govt for booking 14 "false cases" against Kakani, he said when YSRCP activists were attacked near Kavali, Kakani held a press conference and condemned the ruling party for instigating the attacks. "TDP holds a grudge against him for that. He was immediately booked in multiple cases with the help of fake witnesses and evidences and has been confined to Nellore prison," he alleged. Jagan, who also met former Kovur legislator Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy, condemned the attack on the six-time MLA's residence. "Over 80 miscreants were involved in the unprecedented attack in which Prasanna's house was ransacked. YSRCP will give TDP a taste of the same medicine after returning to power," Jagan warned. Earlier, Nellore police resorted to mild lathicharge at some places during Jagan's visit on Thursday. Despite prohibitory orders issued by the police banning crowd mobilisation and taking out rallies, a large number of YSRCP activists congregated at the helipad near Nellore central prison and outside the Kovur ex-MLA's residence, who staged protests claiming that he too was roughed up by the police. Meanwhile, TDP ridiculed Jagan's "baseless allegations" and asserted that peace and tranquility have returned to the state after people voted him out in the 2024 elections. Kovur legislator Vemireddy Prashanti Reddy questioned the YSRCP chief about the rationale behind his frequent "jail yatras". "What message are you trying to send across by extending solidarity to people like Kakani Govardhan Reddy, Anil Kumar Yadav, and Nallapareddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy? Aren't they guilty of pledging support to the mining mafia? The whole of Andhra Pradesh condemned the derogatory and sexist remarks passed on me by Prasanna Kumar Reddy. Even the high court condemned his comments and refused to grant anticipatory bail to him. It is unfortunate that Jagan has stooped so low to shield a person who is a disgrace to the society," the TDP MLA lamented. She further said that despite being shunted out of power, Jagan hasn't learnt any lessons. "YSRCP can never return to power as its prime agenda is to shield criminals and humiliate women," she added.
