Two of Dubai's most distinctive dining destinations—Gerbou and Smoked Room—have just been recognised among the world's most beautiful restaurants in the prestigious 2025 Prix Versailles list, which celebrates excellence in design across hospitality spaces globally.
Gerbou, a collaboration between Tashkeel and Atelier House Hospitality, is set inside a reimagined 1980s community centre in Nad Al Sheba. Its interiors are a tactile tribute to Emirati culture—featuring camel-leather banquettes, a Ghaf wood reception desk, fish-scale light fittings, and earth-toned textures that nod to the desert landscape. With 75% of its ingredients sourced locally, Gerbou's philosophy of sustainability and cultural rootedness is reflected not only on the plate, but in every design decision. The result is a space that feels at once grounded and elevated—a contemporary expression of heritage.
Smoked Room, meanwhile, is located in St. Regis Gardens on the Palm and offers a more intimate, immersive experience: just 14 seats, and a menu built entirely around the theatre of smoke and fire. Created by acclaimed Spanish chef Dani García, the concept earned a Michelin star within six months of opening. Inside, the design leans moody and elemental—think charred wood, ambient lighting, and a raw material palette that mirrors the cooking technique itself. It's refined, primal, and utterly transportive.
Gerbou and Smoked Room's recognition in the Prix Versailles list highlights Dubai's emergence as a serious contender in the global design conversation—where restaurants double as cultural and aesthetic landmarks.

Real Madrid Consider Sign Man City's Rodri

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Real Madrid management sees Rodri as the ideal replacement for Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement at the end of last season. The 29-year-old Spanish player is still under contract with Manchester City until the summer of 2027. However, negotiations to extend his deal until 2030 have not seen tangible progress, sparking speculation about his future, despite coach Pep Guardiola's insistence on keeping him as a key component in midfield. Rodri's prolonged absence last season due to injury had a clear impact on City's performance, underlining his tactical importance to the team. At the same time, it has raised some concerns among Real Madrid officials regarding his fitness and readiness should the deal go through. read more Japan Stun Spain 2-1 to Qualify for World Cup Last 16 World Cup 2022: Get to Know Confirmed Line-ups of Japan and Spain Group E Decider Saudi Arabia Bid Farewell to World Cup after 2-1 Loss to Mexico Tunisia Achieve Historic Win over France but Fail to Qualify Tunisia to Clash against France in World Cup Sports Get to Know Squad of Group D Teams in World Cup Sports Al Ahly Gift EGP 70,000 to Players After Claiming Egyptian Super Cup Title Sports Bencharki Hits First 2 Goals with Al Jazira Since Leaving Zamalek Sports Arsenal Possible Line-up for Nottingham Forest News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

Giza pyramids get new eco-friendly interior lighting

The three Giza pyramids of Khufo, Khafre, Mankaure have been fitted with new state-of-the-art, eco friendly LED interior lighting systems. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities' Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) collaborated with the Spanish government to upgrade the pyramids' lighting systems to a new one that highlights the grandeur and genius of the interior design of the pyramids. Sherif Fathy, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, said that the lighting project serves the Ministry's purpose to improve the quality of services provided in archeological sites and museums, while improving visitor experience and enhancing the beauty of Egyptian monuments. Mohamed Ismail Khaled, Secretary-General of the SCA, explained that the new eco friendly lighting system depends on cold lighting units that are completely safe for the original ancient architectural components used in the pyramids. He said it provides a unique visual experience for visitors, highlighting the aesthetics of ancient Egyptian architecture and its legendary accuracy in monuments built to glorify immortality, a cornerstone of the faith of ancient Egyptians. The lighting project, Dr Khaled noted, was implemented by a team of archeologists and specialised engineers from Spain, after completing all the necessary scientific and technical studies. For his part, Director General of Giza Antiquities Ashraf Mohieddine explained that the lighting project covered all the interior corridors of the three pyramids, in addition to the burial chambers, escalation passages and internal chambers.
