Charter aircraft carrying Raj CM lands at wrong airstrip in Phalodi
Sources say the pilots realised their mistake and then took off from the civil airstrip to land the jet at the IAF station.
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is probing this case and has taken the pilots off flying duty pending investigation. "The CM flew from Delhi to Phalodi on July 31 at 3 pm. The aircraft landed at the civil airstrip in Phalodi. The pilots immediately took off from the wrong airstrip and then landed at the Phalodi IAF station, which was the scheduled airport for it and about 5 km away from the former.
The CM alighted there and a couple of hours later flew in the aircraft to Jaipur. The Falcon 2000 then flew back to Delhi the same night, said people in the know.
The charter company filed a voluntary report on the "wrong airport landing incident" with the DGCA. The civil airstrip and the IAF station in Phalodi are about 5 km apart, and both facilities have similar geographical positioning.
"Both the runways have similar orientation and visual characteristics.

The flight crew misidentified the intended runway during approach. Seemingly, there was inadequate pre-flight briefing about the presence of two airfields in close vicinity. Pilots must get proper pre-flight briefing, and that is something operators need to work on to ensure such things don't happen," said a source.
The Dassault Falcon 2000 is a French business jet that can carry 8-10 passengers with a range of up to 6,000 km.
This case has raised concern as an aircraft supposed to land at the civil airstrip by mistake entering the restricted military airspace could have legal and safety consequences.
Also, military-civil coordination may be lacking during such mis-landings, increasing response time for corrective action, sources add. The headquarters for the eponymous district, Phalodi, is also called the "salt city" due to the salt industry in Rin. Phalodi is in the buffer zone of Thar Desert, close to Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer.

'Dancing to America's tune': Tejashwi Yadav slams PM Modi for silence on US tariff hike; accuses him of weak leadership
Tejashwi Yadav (ANI image) NEW DELHI: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday strongly criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for remaining silent after US President Donald Trump imposed a 50% tariff on Indian imports. Yadav accused PM Modi of being "weak" and alleged that he was "dancing to America's tune." Addressing reporters, Yadav criticised the central government's handling of the situation. He said, 'You all are witnessing how the government is functioning in this country. Trump imposed a 50% tariff. Trump has said 28 times that he brokered the ceasefire. The Prime Minister has not broken his silence yet. The PM still hasn't said that Donald Trump is lying." Yadav accused the prime minister of appearing weak and aligning with American interests. "The PM has become so weak that he is dancing to America's tune. A 50% tariff will cause huge damage to the country, and no one is speaking about it. Everyone is silent. These people will damage the country and then go to Bihar and say, 'Look, we have become a Vishwaguru',' he added. The sharp criticism comes after President Trump signed an executive order on August 6, imposing an additional 25% tariff on Indian goods. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like She Was Everyone's Dream Girl In 90's, This Is Her Now The Latest Article Undo The White House justified the move citing national security and foreign policy concerns, alleging that India's import of Russian oil posed an 'unusual and extraordinary threat' to the United States. Yesterday, after the tariff announcement, Yadav criticised the centre's response in a post on X. "The US imposing 50% tariffs on India is classic trade bullying - weaponising commerce to strong arm sovereign nations. Disappointing that Honourable PM Modi Ji, FM Jaishankar Ji & Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal Ji haven't pushed back strongly," the post read. His post added that India's silence on President Trump's 'trade-for-ceasefire' claims was a mistake and stressed that the country must assert its trade policy sovereignty. He added that India should stand firm against economic coercion and must not alter its policy priorities under external pressure. With this new order, Indian exports to the US now face a total tariff of 50 per cent. While the first phase of the tariff takes effect on August 7, the additional 25 per cent will be implemented after 21 days. Goods already in transit or falling under special exemptions will not be affected.

Pakistan Army chief Munir expected to visit US again: Report
Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir is expected to visit the US this week for consultations with top American officials, his second trip to Washington since the four-day conflict with India, a media report said on Thursday. In June, Munir travelled to the US on a rare five-day trip during which he attended a private luncheon with President Donald Trump. That meeting culminated in Trump's announcement of enhanced US-Pakistan cooperation in various fields, including an oil deal. Michael Erik Kurilla, head of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), in late July. In a press statement issued on August 4, CENTCOM recalled Gen Kurilla's recent visit to Pakistan and other countries in the region. Live Events During the visit, Gen Kurilla was also conferred the Nishan-i-Imtiaz (Military) by the Pakistani government. During his previous visit to Washington, Munir was hosted by President Trump in an unprecedented gesture typically reserved for visiting heads of state or government. There was no official word on the visit from Inter-Services Public Relations or Pakistan's embassy in Washington, but during his previous visit, the army chief had hinted that he expected to return to the US again later in the year. The development comes just over a month after the US general described Pakistan as a "phenomenal partner" in counterterrorism efforts during a congressional hearing, where he also praised Pakistan's role "in promoting peace and stability" in the region. After his meeting with Trump in June, Munir had held a comprehensive and candid exchange with senior scholars, analysts, policy experts, and representatives of leading international media outlets in Washington. His visit to the US came weeks after the four-day conflict between India and Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. The relations between the US and Pakistan had been under strain after the killing of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden by the US forces in May 2011 in a secret operation in Abbottabad, Pakistan. PTI
