The Toronto Blue Jays and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. have reached an agreement on a contract extension, according to reports.
ESPN's Jeff Passan and The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported that the deal is worth $500 million over 14 years. He was set to become a free agent following the 2025 season. The contract is reportedly a no-deferral deal, which means Guerrero is expected to be paid out in full during the term of the contract without any portion of the salary being pushed back for a later time.
Guerrero was considered one of the top international prospects in his class and originally signed with the team in 2015 for $3.9 million.
He's won a Gold Glove and two Silver Slugger Awards during his career.
He's also been named an All-Star four times, was the All-Star Game MVP in 2021 and won the Home Run Derby in 2023.
Through Sunday, Guerrero has a .288 career batting average with 478 runs, 511 RBIs and 160 home runs.

White Sox agree to 1-year contract with left-hander Tyler Alexander

CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox added pitcher Tyler Alexander on Sunday, agreeing to a one-year contract with the veteran left-hander. Alexander, a Chicago native who turns 31 next month, was designated for assignment by Milwaukee last weekend. He cleared waivers and opted for free agency. Alexander went 3-5 with a 6.19 ERA and one save in 21 appearances for the Brewers this season, including four starts. He had 30 strikeouts and 12 walks over 36 1/3 innings. The White Sox also placed left-hander Jared Shuster on the 15-day injured list before their series finale against Kansas City. Shuster has a blister on his left hand. To make room for Alexander on the 40-man roster, left-hander Fraser Ellard was transferred to the 60-day injured list. Ellard has a left lat strain. Alexander is 20-33 with a 4.67 ERA in 164 career major league appearances, also playing for the Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays. ___ AP MLB:

Orioles activate reliever Scott Blewett, designate Matt Bowman for assignment

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles activated relief pitcher Scott Blewett and designated reliever Matt Bowman for assignment Sunday. The Orioles reacquired Blewett from the Atlanta Braves on Friday in a trade for cash. The Orioles had claimed Blewett off waivers from the Minnesota Twins on April 14, and the Braves purchased his contract six days later. Advertisement Blewett is 2-0 with a 3.91 ERA in 25 1/3 innings over 15 appearances for the Orioles, Braves and Twins this season. In his last outing for the Braves, he allowed five runs in 1 1/3 innings as part of a bullpen meltdown that saw Arizona come back from a 10-4 ninth-inning deficit to win 11-10 Thursday. Bowman has made 18 appearances for the Orioles and is 0-1 with a 4.57 ERA in 21 2/3 innings. ___ AP MLB: The Associated Press
