He highlighted that embracing new technology is not only essential for enhancing individual productivity, but also plays a crucial role in strengthening governance at the grassroots level.
Citing the example of the PM-Jan Dhan Yojana, he pointed out that the digital infrastructure provided by Aadhaar, combined with the widespread use of mobile phones, has significantly improved banking coverage—something that would have taken decades using traditional methods.

Nandyal: Nandyal District In-Charge Minister and Minister for Roads, Buildings, Infrastructure, and Investments BC Janardhan Reddy on Friday extended 79th Independence Day greetings to the people and honoured freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the nation's liberty. Highlighting key government initiatives, the Minister announced the official state-wide launch of the 'Sthree Shakthi' free bus travel scheme for women and transgender passengers. Under the scheme, beneficiaries can travel free of cost in 8,456 APSRTC buses, including Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu, City Ordinary, Express, and Metro Express services, by showing Aadhaar, voter ID, or ration card as proof. The government has also planned to induct additional buses, including electric vehicles, to strengthen public transport. Other major initiatives highlighted include Filling over 16,000 teacher posts, with 2,674 posts allotted to the Kurnool–Nandyal region under Mega DSC Recruitment. Implementation of Annadata Sukhibhava and PM-Kisan to provide Rs20,000 per year to eligible farmers; first phase benefits of Rs140 crore credited to over 2.06 lakh farmers in the district under Farmer Welfare. Completion of BT and CC roads, drainage works, and irrigation expansion through Handri-Neeva, ensuring water to tail-end fields under infrastructure. 18 employability skill centres established; job fairs placed over 1,400 youth in reputed companies. Fast-tracking construction of sanctioned houses with additional financial aid for pending units. Over 12,000 beneficiaries received surgeries and treatment through the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust this year under health service. Establishment of 890 MSME units in 2025–26, creating 3,000 jobs. Reiterating the State's commitment to the Swarnandhra 2047 Vision, Janardhan Reddy said the government is moving ahead with a comprehensive plan for poverty eradication, skill enhancement, water security, and sustainable growth to position Andhra Pradesh at the forefront by the centenary of Independence. Collector Raja Kumari, SP Adiraj Singh Rana, Joint collector C Vishnu Charan and other participated and addressed the occasion. Cultural programmes of school and march fast of students have enthralled the audience. Tableaus of various departments have also stood special attraction on the occasion.

‘Stree Shakti' scheme launched
Puttaparthi: The Andhra Pradesh government's prestigious Sthree Shakti scheme, offering free bus travel for women, has been hailed as a landmark decision enhancing dignity and mobility for women, said State BC Welfare and Handlooms & Textiles Minister S Savitha and District Collector TS Chetan. The scheme was formally launched at the local RTC bus stand, where Minister Savitha, Collector Chetan, and MLA Palle Sindhura Reddy jointly flagged off the buses under the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Savitha described Sthree Shakti as a historic step benefiting women, girls, and transgender persons across the State. Out of 11,449 APSRTC buses in Andhra Pradesh, 8,458 (74%) are now operating under this scheme, covering Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu, Express, Metro Express, Ordinary City, and Enclave Route services. The free travel facility applies to journeys anywhere within the State. She emphasized that the scheme not only removes the financial burden of travel for women but also improves connectivity between rural and urban areas, thereby supporting women's safety, convenience, and economic independence. Beneficiaries can avail of free travel by presenting Aadhaar, voter ID, or ration card. Collector Chetan said that in the district, 315 buses—196 Palle Velugu, 14 Ultra Palle Velugu, and 105 Express—are allocated to the scheme, serving 150 routes from villages to mandal and district headquarters. Women's daily ridership is expected to grow by 33%, from 25,000 to 30,000, with an annual district-level benefit of Rs120 crore. The event was attended by former minister Palle Raghunath Reddy, RDO Suvarna, RTC RM Madhusudhan, DM Inayatullah, and other officials.

186 buses earmarked for free travel by women
Rajamahendravaram: The free bus travel scheme for women was launched in East Godavari district by the Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh on Friday. The inaugural event was conducted at the RTC complex in Rajamahendravaram. Following the launch, Minister Durgesh, accompanied by officials and other public representatives, embarked on a bus ride to interact with female passengers. He presented the first 'zero-fare' ticket to a traveller. The Minister explained that to avail of the free travel, girls, women, and transgender people must present a valid government-issued ID such as an Aadhaar card or Voter ID. Approximately 186 buses have been designated for the scheme in East Godavari district, and they are expected to cover over 56,000 km daily. The scheme is applicable to five types of buses: Palle Velugu, Ultra Palle Velugu, city ordinary, Metro Express, and Express. Free travel is also extended to AP Enclave buses going to neighbouring States, a measure intended to assist residents of border villages who frequently travel to Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Odisha and Telangana. The Minister highlighted the inclusion of transgender people in the scheme as a 'revolutionary' step, aimed at providing support to a community that often faces social neglect. Minister Durgesh emphasised that the coalition government is committed to delivering its promises. He mentioned that in addition to free bus travel, plans are underway to provide a monthly allowance of Rs 1,500 to women and unemployment benefits to youth. He also pointed out that other pledges, such as the increase in NTR Bharosa pensions, free gas cylinders through the Deepam 2 programme, and the release of pending paddy dues from the previous administration, have already been implemented. The Minister concluded by asserting that the government's focus is on public welfare and that the recent by-election results in Pulivendula and Ontimitta prove there is no significant Opposition in the State. The inauguration event saw the participation of several dignitaries, including District Collector P Prasanthi, State Settibalija Corporation Chairman Kudupudi Sattibabu, RUDA Chairman Boddu Venkataramana, MLC Somu Veerraju, MLAs Adireddy Srinivas, Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, Balarama Krishna, Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy and others.
