Oklahoma OC Ben Arbuckle discusses his passion for coaching
When Oklahoma Sooners head coach Brent Venables hired Ben Arbuckle to be his new offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, he took a chance on a young 29-year-old who has never coached in the Southeastern Conference or the Power Four. Arbuckle takes on the play-calling duties for OU's offense in what will be just his fourth season calling the shots at the collegiate level.
Arbuckle is tasked with rebuilding an offense that sunk to lows last year under the direction of Seth Littrell, Joe Jon Finley, and Kevin Johns. With what is likely the toughest schedule in America awaiting the Sooners in the SEC in 2025, it's a tall order for the former Washington State OC.
But earlier this week, OU fans got a glimpse into the way Arbuckle leads the way for his new players. Arbuckle was asked by Caleb Kelly on Sooner Sports talk about the passion he coaches with.
"If I expect these players that I get to coach to run around with some juice, with some energy, and have a high sense of urgency and be extremely detail-oriented when we're at practice, well, I better be the same way, I better be practicing what I preach," Arbuckle said. "Any chance I get to get in front of our awesome players we have at Oklahoma, I want them to know that they're gonna have a coach who's gonna fly around, who's gonna care, who's going to bring the energy, and love being there probably more than they love being there. I want that to spew off into them and everything. So that's where that energy comes from."
The tall task is made easier by the transfer portal addition of quarterback John Mateer, who started for Arbuckle in Pullman last season and led the FBS in total touchdowns. That duo holds the fate of the offense, possibly the entire season, and perhaps even Venables' head coaching career in their hands this year. Oklahoma is looking for an offense that can play complimentary football with the Sooners' defense.
Arbuckle brings his youth, a much-needed new voice and passionate energy to his new role leading the Oklahoma offense. As the Sooners look to bounce back in a crucial 2025 season, all eyes will be on how that side of the ball does against the toughest conference in the country.

NBA rumors: Teams ‘preparing for' Oklahoma City Thunder to make big move in 2025 NBA Draft
The Oklahoma City Thunder are attempting to turn their core into a championship, while a majority of the league is focused on final preparation before the 2025 NBA Draft. While the NBA Finals is Oklahoma City's focus for now, teams do think the Thunder might have something up their sleeve on draft night. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, teams picking inside the lottery of the 2025 NBA Draft are 'preparing for' the Thunder of moving up into the lottery. While no specific targets were named, the Houston Rockets (10th overall pick) are open to moving the selection and teams like the Brooklyn Nets (8th overall pick) Portland Trail Blazers (11th overall pick) could be targeted. One incentive for trading up for the Thunder could be the desire to land NBA-ready talent this offseason on rookie contracts. With Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren due to receive contract extensions, Oklahoma City needs to start consolidating its picks to find the best young talent on cheap talent that it can. If the Thunder were to move up into the top 12 picks, it could put them in a position to land someone like Duke Blue Devils center Khaman Maluach or French point guard Nolan Traore. 5-star OT's latest move could be good sign for Michigan football
The post 5-star OT's latest move could be good sign for Michigan football appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Michigan football team had a very important visitor on campus over the weekend as five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo was on his official visit. Ojo is one of the best players in the entire 2026 recruiting class, and there are a few top programs still vying for his commitment. Oklahoma was supposed to be one of those teams, but Ojo cancelled his official visit with the Sooners after his trip to Ann Arbor. Advertisement 'NEWS: Five-Star OT Felix Ojo will no longer take an Official Visit to Oklahoma, he tells me for @on3recruits,' Hayes Fawcett said in a post. 'The No. 6 Recruit in the '26 Class was scheduled to visit the Sooners June 20th.' It definitely feels like a good sign for the Michigan football team that Felix Ojo cancelled this official visit after visiting with the Wolverines. He did visit some other top programs before going to Ann Arbor, however, so nothing is set in stone. Texas and Ohio State seem to be the two biggest threats to Michigan in the recruitment of this Texas native. It's going to be a tight race, but Ojo is nearing a decision. 'Not needed,' Ojo said of his scheduled Oklahoma visit. 'Nearing my decision a lot sooner than later.' Advertisement It's unclear when exactly we will hear a decision, but this would be a massive pickup for the Michigan football team. Ojo is a five-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #5 overall player in the 2026 class, the #1 OT and the #2 player in the state of Texas. Ojo currently attends Lake Ridge High School in Mansfield, TX. Taking this five-star out of Texas' backyard will be tough for Michigan. 'Tall offensive tackle prospect who's very young for his recruiting class with a July DOB,' Ojo's scouting report reads. 'Verified at 6-foot-6, 272 pounds post-junior season with adequate length numbers in arm (33 5/8) and wingspan (81 1/2). Owns a lean, athletic look and plays with impressive functional athleticism and movement ability. Live evaluation during 2025 Navy Army All-American Bowl revealed a consistent mean streak in pads. Stood out physically, athletically, and in field demeanor despite being among the youngest competitors in the event.' It's hard to find a better high school prospect than Ojo. If Michigan lands a commitment, it is getting a player that should go on to make a major impact in the program, and a player that has great pro potential. Advertisement 'Hand placement/technique have improved from sophomore to junior year, along with ability to stand up to POA strength,' the scouting report continues. 'Gets good extension and uses length to his advantage. Still developing consistent pop; can be grabby, but looks to finish with authority. Plays upright at times and can show more frequent bend ability. Will continue to bulk given immense frame potential. Bolsters athletic profile with discus reps. Capacities for strength and power are high given excellent physical tools and relative youth. Looks like one of the top OT prospects in the 2026 class with potential to become a multi-year high-major tackle with ample pro potential.' It shouldn't be long before we hear a decision from Felix Ojo, and he could end up being the highlight of the 2026 Michigan football recruiting class.
