Ivy League-leader Yale defeats Brown 70-61
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — John Poulakidas had 27 points in Yale's 70-61 win against Brown in a regular-season finale on Saturday.
Up next for Yale is the four-team Ivy Madness in which the Bulldogs (20-7, 13-1 Ivy League) will be the top seed. Brown did not qualify.
Poulakidas shot 11 for 17, including 5 for 10 from beyond the arc for the Bulldogs. Bez Mbeng scored 13 points while shooting 3 of 12 from the field and 6 for 7 from the line and added four steals. Nick Townsend had 11 points and went 4 of 8 from the field.
The Bears (14-13, 6-8) were led by Kino Lilly Jr., who posted 19 points and five assists. Adrian Uchidiuno added 10 points for Brown. Lyndel Erold also had eight points.

Being in the NFL since 2019, Brown has dominated at his position. As a rookie with the Tennessee Titans, Brown pasted 1,051 yards and eight touchdowns during first year in the NFL. During the 2020 season, he followed up with 70 catches for 1,075 yards and 11 touchdowns in 14 games. His final run with the Titans could be considered a down year. Playing in just 13 games, Brown caught 63 passes for 869 yards and five touchdowns. His dip in value convinced the Titans to trade him to Philadelphia. The Eagles benefited big time from the Titans' decision to move away from Brown. When Philadelphia acquired the former second-round pick, Brown dominated with 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns in 17 games. Over the next two seasons, he exceeded 1,000 yards. Last year, Brown contributed to 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns in just 13 games. Carolina Panthers defensive lineman Derrick Brown is back where he should be. This past Saturday's exhibition outing marked the Pro Bowl defender's first game since Sept. 8, 2024—when he sustained a season-ending knee injury against the New Orleans Saints. Brown talked about his return following Monday's practice. "I was just definitely anxious, especially coming back from camp," he told reporters. "Soon as I got back, got the oblique injury. Knee's been good. "I think a big thing for me was just making it through a whole week. Traveling with the team Wednesday, practicing on Thursday, during the walkthroughs and everything and just being able to finish out the week and the game." Brown, who missed 16 of the team's 17 contests in 2024, played three snaps in the 20-3 loss to the Houston Texans. The sixth-year veteran, however, had some convincing to do to even get those looks. "I think it was a lot of pestering all week, leading up to that," Brown said of pleading his case to the coaching staff. "I definitely sat on the sideline in high anticipation the week before, for the Cleveland game. Didn't practice. So getting back out there was awesome." But that could be it this summer for Brown, as the Panthers are not expected to play their starters in Thursday's preseason finale versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Philadelphia Eagles are dealing with an injury to one of their key playmakers ahead of the 2025 NFL season. Wide receiver A.J. Brown has been absent from practice while dealing with a hamstring injury. The Eagles have been mum about his status and how much the soft-tissue injury could affect him in the weeks leading up to the team's Sept. 4 season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. Here are the latest updates on Brown as his injury lingers into preseason Week 3. A.J. Brown injury update Brown is not participating in the Eagles' Monday, Aug. 18 practice because of his hamstring injury. However, Brown's absence appears to be precautionary. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that the Eagles are keeping the veteran receiver sidelined at they "take their time to make sure he doesn't suffer any setbacks." And while Brown wasn't dressed for practice or working out with the receivers, he did take some time to throw to his fellow wide-outs during Monday's session.
