Watch: African serval captured after 2 days on the loose in Oklahoma
March 12 (UPI) -- An exotic African serval cat was safely returned home after a days-long search involving social media and a number of concerned neighbors.
Edmond resident Shanna Honeycutt-Akram said her 35-pound pet, named Jalapeño, was able to push his door open when it failed to latch properly on Sunday and wandered out into the neighborhood.
Honeycutt-Akram and others posted about Jalapeño's disappearance on Facebook, and the posts garnered numerous comments and shares.
The pet owner said a neighbor spotted Jalapeño on Tuesday and was able to help trap him in a large crate.
Honeycutt-Akram said Jalapeño was not injured during his time on the loose and is now safely back at home.
"He was an entirely different critter as soon as he was back home! His enclosure is padlocked and we can all rest easy," Honeycutt-Akram wrote on Facebook.

Wildcats, drugs seized from PA home
CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WKBN) — Two people were arrested in Clearfield County for drug trafficking and endangering the welfare of a child after thousands of dollars worth of drugs were seized, along with two wildcats. According to a release from Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday, in collaboration with PSP and the Clearfield County District Attorney's Office, officers recovered two live African wildcats, which appeared to be unlawfully possessed. Jennifer Dixon, 27, and Nicholas Rumsey, 33, are each charged with possession with intent to distribute, endangering the welfare of a child, and other related drug charges. In the search of the property, officers seized: About three pounds of methamphetamine, valued at $19,200 About 159 grams of fentanyl, valued at $63,000 About nine grams of heroin, valued at $3,600 Other drug paraphernalia The Pennsylvania State Game Commission is investigating the conduct regarding the wildcats. Court records state Dixon was charged on Thursday, denied bail and is due back in court for a hearing on Wednesday. Rumsey has not yet been arraigned as of Monday morning, according to court records. 'Our agents never know what they're going to find when they prepare for a search at a residence, and this case was no exception,' Attorney General Dave Sunday said in a news release. 'The agents' seizure of methamphetamine, fentanyl and heroin ensures those drugs will not harm surrounding communities. The recovery and rescue of these wildcats provides the animals with opportunities to live safer, healthier lives – not caged in the basement of this home. I am grateful to Pennsylvania State Police and all the agencies involved in this operation for this remarkable seizure.' An investigation is ongoing. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Peoria County Sheriff warns of scammers asking for $3K to power wash driveway
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Peoria County Sheriff Office is warning people of a new scam which makes customers pay $3,000 to wash their driveway. The sheriff's department was made aware of the scam last week in Princeville and Limestone Township. Solicitors were going door to door, telling people that it would cost $175 to power wash their driveway, the department said in a Facebook post. When the solicitors would finish cleaning the driveway, they would inform the homeowners that the job actually cost $3,000, and it appears they were targeting 'elderly customers,' the post said. 'Always be cautious when dealing with solicitors and make sure to let our elderly community know about this scam,' the post said. The incidents are currently under investigation, the post said.
