Michigan State basketball to play East Carolina in Fort Myers Tip-Off next season This will be the first ever meeting between Michigan State and East Carolina
An addition to the Michigan State basketball schedule for next season has been announced.
Michigan State announced on Thursday that they will play East Carolina in this year's Fort Myers Tip-Off. This will be the first of two games for the Spartans during the event, with Michigan State battling the Pirates on Tuesday, November 25. The Spartans will then play North Carolina on Thanksgiving of that week. St. Bonaventure is the fourth team part of the event, with the Bonnies set to face North Carolina.
East Carolina went 19-14 overall last year and finished in fifth place in the American Athletic Conference. This will be the first ever meeting between Michigan State and East Carolina.
For the Spartans, we now know four of the Spartans' non-conference foes:
Kentucky (Champions Classic)
East Carolina (Fort Myers Tip-Off)
North Carolina (Fort Myers Tip-Off)
Duke (home)
The full official Michigan State schedule for next season should be released in the next few months.

Tennessee offers 2027 safety from Virginia
Tennessee is making recruiting efforts toward its 2027 football signing class. The Vols offered a scholarship to three-star safety Zayvon Miller. "Extremely blessed to say I've received an offer from the University of Tennessee," Miller announced. Advertisement The 6-foot-3, 185-pound prospect is from Huguenot High School in Richmond, Virginia. 247Sports ranks Miller as the No. 38 safety in 2027 and the No. 11 player in Virginia. East Carolina was the first school to offer him a scholarship on Nov. 12, 2023. Additional schools to offer a scholarship to Miller include Penn State, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Appalachian State, Florida State, Liberty, Syracuse, Charlotte, Wisconsin, South Carolina and Old Dominion. Tennessee does not have any commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class. The Vols have eight commitments in their 2026 recruiting class: quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, wide receiver Tyran Evans, linebacker Braylon Outlaw, defensive lineman C.J. Just about everyone seems to have a hot take on Aaron Rodgers signing with the Steelers – and Mike Tannenbaum is no exception. The former Jets general manager didn't hold back when discussing Rodgers' outlook in Pittsburgh on ESPN's 'Get Up' Wednesday morning. 'I think Aaron Rodgers is gonna be irrelevant by Thanksgiving,' said Tannenbaum, eliciting an incredulous response from host Mike Greenberg. Tannenbaum justified his claim by calling the Steelers a 'non-playoff team,' and by pointing to Rodgers' age (41) and the fact that he's a 'legend who's going off into the sunset.' 'Tell me why [the Steelers] are going to be relevant,' Tannenbaum continued. 'Because they're the third-best team in the division, they're going to have to find out about Will Howard, who they drafted from Ohio State, who I think is very intriguing.' The 3-star and No. 68 edge recruit in the country from Memphis, TN, declared his commitment on June 10. Rush ends coach Chad Wilts, who ultimately was credited as the primary recruiter, first gave House an offer back in February. However, the 6'5, 240-pound edge was wanted at 28 schools across the country, including 12 power conference schools. House now marks Michigan State's sixth consecutive defensive addition for the class of 2026 alongside safety Brayden Thomas, cornerback K.J. Deriso, safety Elijah Caldwell-Hardy, linebacker Braylon Hodge, and defensive tackle Chris Knauls. Advertisement Thomas, Deriso, and Hodge were also part of the first group of visitors. While the Spartans bumped from No. 57 to No. 44, being on the weaker end of recruitment will force head coach Jonathan Smith to rely on returners making leaps heading into his second year if he's unable to secure high-end recruits.
