Marcos says PH has had no agricultural policy for a long time
Marcos said this during his engagement with the national grand winners of the 50th Gawad Saka: Parangal sa mga Natatanging Magsasaka at Mangingisda in a forum at the Science City of Muñoz in Nueva Ecija.

He said this was the reason why the youth was not engaged in farming activities, adding that they do not see a good career path in the agricultural sector.
''Medyo hindi natulungan ang agrikultura nang matagal eh. Wala tayong agricultural policy, masyado nang napakatagal. Kaya't sasabihin ng mga bata, 'Ba't tayo papasok diyan, walang pupuntahan 'yan, hanggang diyan na lang 'yan.' Kaya't ngayon, babaguhin natin lahat 'yan,'' Marcos said.
(It seems that no help was extend in our agricultural sector. We haven't had an agricultural policy for a long time. So, the youth will ask, 'Why will we go into agriculture, there's no future there.' So we will change that.)
Marcos cited the need for modern technology to improve the agricultural sector, particularly the country's yields. This will also attract the youth to engage in farming, he said.
''Kailangan natin pumasok sa mga bagong teknolohiya dahil 'yun kailangan talaga natin para 'yung bawat ektarya natin, mas malaki ang yield. Mas malaki ang ani,'' Marcos said.
(We need to use modern technology because we really need that to improve our yield from every hectare. The harvest will be greater.)
Marcos said the youth would be the ones who will teach the other farmers in utilizing technology.
''Sila ang magtuturo sa atin ng mga bagong teknolohiya at 'yan palagay ko ay magiging interesting na 'yan para sa ating mga kabataan. Makikita nila na may magandang hanapbuhay naman ang magsasaka,'' he said.

Mapua unveils electric vehicle prototype for Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2026
Engineering students at Mapua University are taking on a new challenge as they prepare for next year's Shell Eco-marathon Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. For the first time since the eco-marathon was introduced in Asia in 2010, Mapua's Cardinal One will compete with a battery-electric vehicle after fielding prototypes that run on internal combustion engines. Still under development, the electric vehicle prototype, called Aguila Neo Electric, was presented to the alumni, partners, sponsors, and media at Mapua's Intramuros campus on Saturday night, July 19. Marcos meets with execs from US semiconductor industry
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. held a meeting with top executives of the Semiconductor Industry Association during his official visit to the United States. Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez said the semiconductor sector is one of Manila's biggest industries with strong economic ties to Washington. Further, the Philippines is host to more than 500 electronics and semiconductor firms, including major American companies. In November 2023, Marcos said in a meeting with the SIA that the Philippines was ready to work with the group. Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed the US was the country's top export destination in 2024, accounting for 16.6%, or $12.14 billion, of the total export receipts of $73.27 billion. The Philippines' largest export was electronic goods, which made up 53.4% of total exports ($39.09 billion), of which $29.17 billion were semiconductors. Marcos also met with top executives of leading US investment firms, including Cerberus, which serves as an established alternative investment advisor with approximately $65 billion in assets across complementary credit, private equity, and real estate platforms.
