Doha
The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) concluded its annual campaign, during which it delivered training courses for Qatari and resident students in summer camps of government schools aged 6 to 18.
Director of the Programs and Education Department at the NHRC, Hamad Salem Al Hajri said: 'Human rights education contributes to preparing students who are active in society and capable of defending their own rights and the rights of others.' He pointed out that the main objectives of the training course are to enhance understanding of rights and duties, develop the values of active citizenship, encourage positive participation in society, and consolidate human values and the principles of respect, tolerance, equality, and justice.
Al Hajri explained that human rights training from an early age contributes to the development of critical thinking, analysis, and expression skills, and promotes the values of equality and understanding among students from different cultural backgrounds, especially in light of the participation of both citizens and residents in the summer camps.
The NHRC concluded its training campaign with a lecture for students at Khalifa Secondary School for Boys on a safe digital environment. The lecture addressed the right to access a safe digital environment, its role in developing children's personalities and capabilities, and facilitating exposure to diverse cultures and identities, thus promoting the values of respect, tolerance, and acceptance of others.

Qatar welcomes declarations by Australia, NZ on recognising State of Palestine
QNA Doha The State of Qatar has welcomed the declaration of Australia on the intent to recognise the sisterly State of Palestine, along with the New Zealand declaration that it is mulling the recognition of the State of Palestine. The State of Qatar termed the two announcements as positive steps that align with international legitimacy and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, as well as vital support for the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people to have self-determination and establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday affirmed that these decisions are consistent with the consensus reached among the countries participating in the international conference for the peaceful settlement of the question of Palestine and the implementation of the two-state solution, based on a roadmap to increase the recognitions of the Palestinian State. The ministry reiterated the State of Qatar's call upon all nations that have yet to recognize the State of Palestine to take similar steps that reflect commitment to international law and back the historic and enduring rights of the Palestinian people on their territories.

Arab League Council affirms support for Qatari-Egyptian Gaza truce efforts
QNA Cairo TheArab League Council has affirmed support for the ongoing efforts of the joint Qatari-Egyptian mediation to end the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people. The Arab League Council, at the level of permanent delegates, on Sunday expressed its condemnation and rejection of the decisions and plans of the Israeli occupation government to impose complete military control over the Gaza Strip and displace the Palestinian people. It also condemned the crimes of aggression, genocide, and ethnic cleansing committed by Israel, the occupying power, against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem. The council, in Resolution No. 9169 issued during its extraordinary session held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League in Cairo at the request of the State of Palestine, affirmed that these Israeli decisions and plans constitute a violation of international law and international conventions, a blatant aggression against all Arab states, their national security, and their political and economic interests, and a threat to security, peace, and stability in the region. The council renewed its call for protecting the Palestinian people from genocide, displacement, and ethnic cleansing, and to prevent the liquidation of their central cause, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, international law, and relevant international and regional agreements. The council stressed the need to implement the decisions of the Arab Summits and the joint Arab and Islamic Summits to break and end the Israeli siege of the Gaza Strip.
