How TikTok Is Growing The MLB One Post At A Time

Forbes09-04-2025
We've all heard the phrase 'TikTok Made Me Do It'. Whether it's trying a new restaurant or watching a recommended television show, there's no denying that TikTok is a powerful force in introducing its users to new things. When it comes to sports, TikTok is undoubtedly one of the most powerful platforms for discovery and conversation, with 29% of TikTok users reporting that they became more interested in a sport after watching content about it on TikTok1.
Explore our case studies on the Publisher Insights Hub to see how others are turning views into real-world results, and read on to discover tips for tapping into the fandom yourself.
A Fan Favorite For Baseball Fans
Users have an appetite for snackable, current content they can share. TikTok has become a hub in the baseball world for sharing predictions, discovering player backstories and catching up with the biggest moments of the season.
Boston Red Sox recently posted a video asking the team about their favorite movies (spoiler, it's Shawshank Redemption), that swiftly received 1.2M views. If you're a publisher trying to achieve a similar response following Opening Day, here are some tips to keep in mind when defining your TikTok posting strategy throughout the season.
1. Swing Before the First Pitch
Get the excitement going by posting content in the lead up to games. Set the scene with backstory and context featuring exclusive spring training footage to introduce star players and their storylines. Bring back fan-favorite moments with iconic flashbacks for shareable nostalgia. Polls and Q&As about season predictions are an effective way at creating fan-driven conversations for even more engagement. Use sports influencers, analysts and team insiders to provide expert insights, giving the fans a taste of what to expect from each big game.
2. Celebrate The Highlights with Real Time Conversation
The thrill of sport is in the big moments, and the TikTok community demands instant highlights, with quality takes and real-time fan reactions that respond to the fast pace of the game. Stay on the ball by posting soon after key moments happen, when engagement is high. Short-form highlights perform well, so get creative and capture buzzer-beaters, walk-off moments and tune-in-quick plays to engage fans. Stay on the ball by posting soon after key moments happen, when engagement is high. Short-form highlights perform well, so get creative and capture buzzer-beaters, walk-off moments and tune-in-quick plays to engage fans. Don't chase perfection, but aim for high quality, well-edited videos to maximize interactions. With the direct message and repost feature, there's endless potential for reach.
3. Keep Them Engaged After The Final Out
Keep the conversation going after the winning hit by spotlighting viral moments, breakout performances, and meme-worthy reactions. Create follow-up content around big wins and unexpected highlights after the game is done. Retain your viewership and build a community by posting about the next event of the season to get viewers excited about the next big game on the calendar.
The Final Coach Tips for Publishers
The playbook for the MLB season has evolved. Show that you're ready to step up to the plate by posting content that gives real value to MLB fans. If you make the most of photo posts, short clips and speedy posting, while getting the conversation going, you're on track to hit a home run.

Furious Harvard researcher claims he was pummeled by group of teens after he told them to be quiet in movie theater

A Harvard researcher was reportedly left bloodied and beaten by a gang of loud, unruly teenagers after asking them to keep quiet at a movie screening in Boston. Thiago Rentz, a 35-year-old Harvard researcher from Brazil, was watching the hit horror flick 'Weapons' early Thursday morning at the AMC Boston Common 19 when he asked five teens in the theater to quiet down several times — before the group began pummeling him, according to NBC Boston. 3 Thiago Rentz says he was violently assaulted by a gang of five teenagers during a movie screening at a Boston AMC. Thiago Rentz Advertisement 'They were there disturbing all of the people, clapping and screaming all the time,' Rentz told the outlet. 'I asked them for respect. I asked them to leave the theater because we just wanted to watch the movie.' When he tried to leave the theater, the teens wouldn't allow Rentz to exit. Advertisement 'They made like a wall so I tried to pass to leave and they couldn't let me pass,' the researcher said, adding that his friend was screaming for help. 'They just punched me. I didn't fight back. I was like scared and then I just faced the wall, and I just protected my face in my head, but the target was obviously my head because they were punching my head and my face.' Images of Rentz following the alleged beatdown show his left eye badly bruised, his mouth bloodied and one of his hands smeared with blood. 'It was one, me against five,' he explained. Advertisement 3 Rents asked the teens to be quiet multiple times during a screening of the horror film 'Weapons.' Google maps The thugs quickly fled the scene as the victim's friend searched desperately for help. She eventually found a security guard, who called the authorities for help, according to the outlet. Boston police arrived around 12:45 a.m. after the theater had closed. Rentz was left with a minor injury to his nose, a police report obtained by the outlet said. 'Harassment is not good in a public space. … This is absurd, so I think they need to hire more people to work as security,' Rentz said. Advertisement He is now working to ensure that security cameras are being checked so the teens, who were all dressed in black but had their faces exposed, are identified by authorities. 'I want the attackers to be identified because they need to be punished,' the researched said. The unsettling incident is the latest in a slew of recent teen-led violent attacks across the US. 3 He was left with a minor injury to his nose and a black eye. Thiago Rentz In May, a group brutally beat two girls in a Queens park with a baseball bat — and even shaved the head of one of the victims in a horrific, caught-on-video display that a relative said was like an attempted 'execution.' Earlier that month, hundreds of youths descended upon a New Jersey mall in a meet-up that was reportedly planned on TikTok and led to a massive brawl. The melee led to seven arrests of minors. Several businesses and retail chains have since implemented 'teen chaperone policies' in hopes of curbing youth crime. On Wednesday, an Ohio Chick-fil-A location posted a 'teen chaperone policy' on Facebook declaring that anyone 17 and under 'must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or adult chaperone' over 21 — adding that 'unaccompanied minors may be asked to leave.' Advertisement In March, a Brooklyn Target banned kids under 18 from shopping at the store without adult supervision to curb delinquent behavior. And a crime-ridden Brooklyn McDonald's also began carding customers in February and forbidding anyone under 20 to enter without a parent or proper ID.

Man's Dramatic Mexico Facelift Breaks The Internet

We recently covered 51-year-old Michelle Woods' incredible facelift transformation... Michelle got the work done in Guadalajara, Mexico, and was able to save herself tens of thousands of dollars. She has been documenting the journey on TikTok, where her story has become mega viral. So, it's no surprise that now a man who has also had a facelift with unbelievable results in Guadalajara is going viral. 56-year-old David Dickson got a facelift a little over a year ago, and this is what he looked like right before his surgery: And here he is after he healed: Again, here is David before: And here he is after: I think this goes without saying, but David's look stunned million of people. People were saying his results were so amazing, it reminded them of the '90s film Death Becomes Her, where the actors Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn drink a potion to regain their youth. On average, most people agreed that David looked about two decades younger. And some people thought he looked even younger! Either way, both his and Michelle's results have persuaded a lot of people to consider Mexico for plastic surgery. BuzzFeed spoke to David who said he had a lower facelift, a neck lift, upper blephroplasty, lower earlobe reduction, and a CO2 laser treatment. After his cousin had a successful stomach surgery in Mexico, David said was set on having his plastic surgery done there as well. "I had been searching for a surgeon in Mexico because I knew I couldn't afford one here in the States. I was familiar with the healthcare system in Puerto Vallarta and Guadalajara and knew it wasn't as scary or antiquated as many people make it out to be. After interviewing several surgeons, I had narrowed my choices down to two in Guadalajara. During this process, I met a friend online who was also planning to use the same surgeon I finally decided on. We kept in touch as our surgery dates approached. After her surgery, she was in the recovery house and recommended I look up Dr. Maribel Belmontes Castillo, saying her work was impeccable. I took her advice, and the rest is history. I am so grateful for her recommendation." Dr. Belmontes Castillo is also the exact same surgeon Michelle from our previous article used. In fact, she joined a Facebook group David started about his plastic surgery journey in Guadalajara prior to getting her surgery. "She has credited the page to helping her along the way," he said. David said that after surgery, he had to stay in Guadalajara for 10 days to recover. Here is where some of his stitches were: And here he is in the days following his surgery: "I believe that anyone contemplating plastic surgery should take the time to explore their options and discuss experiences with others. During my research, I joined several Facebook groups, but while some were helpful, they didn't quite meet my needs. That is why I created my own Facebook group dedicated to past, present, and prospective patients, aiming to assist others embarking on this journey. I shared my travel experiences, surgery details, and recovery process, wanting to give an honest portrayal of the entire experience." "I frequently receive feedback about how beneficial the group has been and how it has eased many worries. A common sentiment expressed is that the surgery itself wasn't as daunting as expected, a sentiment I share as well. I experienced minimal pain, just some discomfort for around three days," he added. David told BuzzFeed that all of his cosmetic work and a one-night stay in the hospital cost around $9,000, and that includes his round-trip airfare from Atlanta. His meds, 10 days in a Guadalajara Recovery House with 24/7 care, meals, and postcare therapy (hyperbaric chambers, radiofrequency treatment, etc.) ended up costing around $5,000. So, in total, he spent around $14,000 for everything. That being said, David said that Dr. Belmontes' prices have increased quite a bit since her work has gone so viral on TikTok. Since going viral, David has had a lot of comments about his age. "Personally, I believe I could easily pass for someone in their mid-40s," he shared. And before his surgery, David also lost a lot of weight. "After losing 100 pounds, my goal was to achieve a look that more closely resembled my actual age. The excess skin sagging on me made me appear older than I truly was. I felt like I looked in my 60s before getting the lift. Now, when I gaze in the mirror, I feel more authentically myself than I did before." "Men, as we age, are fortunately now more focused on self-care, incorporating healthy diets, exercise routines, and even delving into facial skincare. Society is beginning to acknowledge this as a usual practice, not only for women but also for us men. I believe we should take charge of every facet of our well-being, and if that entails considering plastic surgery, whether minor or major, it's worth exploring. Advances in technology have come a long way, making the results barely perceptible. The overly tight and pulled-back appearance of the past is no longer the norm," David said. David is proof that the advances in plastic surgery procedures have come a long way — and that you don't need to be a wealthy celebrity to have great results. "It is amazing how much your self-confidence can be improved by a procedure that can be performed in a few hours. I know that for me, the reflection in the mirror did not match how I felt on the inside, but now it does," David concluded. Lastly, David said he hopes that sharing his experience helps men who are interested in plastic surgery become more comfortable with it. You can follow David on TikTok and Facebook.
