Over the years, the Friends actor was very open about his relationships with his co-stars, particularly as he battled addiction as they filmed the hit sitcom.
And he and Jennifer Aniston were known to be very close friends over the years.
Now, in an interview with Vanity Fair, 56-year-old Jennifer has opened up on 'mourning him' before his death, due to his demons.
She said: 'We did everything we could when we could.
'But it almost felt like we'd been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight.
'As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there's a part of me that thinks this is better. I'm glad he's out of that pain.'
In his memoir, Perry detailed his battle with painkillers and alcohol as he worked on the Friends set.
By early 2000, the actor said he was "taking so many pills that I couldn't leave my bedroom."
However, Perry revealed he believed he could hide the bad habits, as he was still able to show up to work and remember his lines.

But that didn't stop his friend Aniston from calling him out.
Perry said she came to his Friends trailer and said one simple sentence, "I know you're drinking."
"I had long since gotten over her — ever since she started dating Brad Pitt, I was fine — and had worked out exactly how long to look at her without it being awkward, but still, to be confronted by Jennifer Aniston was devastating," Perry wrote.
"And I was confused."
Timeline of Matthew Perry's case
Here is a timeline on the progress of Matthew Perry's case since his death:
Matthew Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub by his assistant on October 28, 2023.
He was pronounced dead at the scene after firefighters lifted him from the hot tub.
Perry was 54 at the time of his death.
His funeral was held at Forest Lawn cemetery in Hollywood Hills on November 3.
On December 15, 2023, Perry's death was ruled as an accident from the "acute effects of ketamine."
The Los Angeles Police Department launched a criminal investigation in December to determine how Perry obtained the drugs that took his life.
The LAPD has since been working with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the US Postal Inspection Service to re-trace the line of supply of the ketamine.
He told his co-star that he had been trying to hide it, but she revealed those efforts were for not.
"'We can smell it,' she said, in a kind of weird but loving way, and the plural 'we' hit me like a sledgehammer," Perry said.
Perry later said he was extremely grateful for Aniston throughout that tumultuous period.
As he checked himself into rehab and continued on the long path to sobriety, Perry said Aniston would check on him.
"She was the one that reached out the most," he said to Diane Sawyer in an October 2022 interview.
"You know, I'm really grateful to her for that."
A doctor recently pleaded guilty to giving Matthew Perry ketamine in the month leading up to the Friends star's horrific overdose death.
Dr. Salvador Plasencia admitted to contributing to the tragic death of the 54-year-old actor whom he branded a "moron" in sick texts.
The California doctor had been charged in the 2023 overdose death of the Friends star.
He pleaded guilty to four counts of illegal distribution of the prescription anesthetic ketamine.
He was one of five people charged in connection with Perry 's tragic death.
According to prosecutors and co-defendants, Plasencia illegally supplied Perry with a large amount of ketamine starting about a month before his death on October 28, 2023.
According to co-defendant Dr. Mark Chavez, who has also pleaded guilty to taking part in the drug exchange, Plasencia in a text message mocked the actor as a "moron" who could be exploited for money.
In an exchange between Plasencia and Chavez, they discussed how much they were going to charge Perry, with Plasencia writing, "I wonder how much this moron will pay" and "Lets [sic] find out."

FARRAH STORR: Claudia Schiffer was once the face of Guess. Now, the brand has created the first AI model to appear in Vogue - and I fear it could be the death knell for the fashion industry
There's something eerily familiar about the model in the latest Guess fashion campaign. Her smile and wide cheekbones are a little like those of the American supermodel Kate Upton. Her hazel, feline eyes meanwhile remind me of the Dutch supermodel . A glance at her body – long legs, a cantilevered chest, skin the colour of a biscotti biscuit – and it could easily be that of Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen.

Southern Charm star shocks fans with NAKED hotel snaps after drinking 'half a bottle' of wine
Former Southern Charm personality Jarrett 'JT' Thomas stunned his 61,000 Instagram followers on Monday night as he took to the platform to share racy content. The 39-year-old real estate developer used the app's Stories to brazenly share nude photos taken in his Washington, DC hotel room. The string of images was off to an innocuous start, with the Bravo celebrity sharing a tame mirror selfie snapshot from bed, where his lower half was covered by white sheets. It was soundtracked to Willie Nelson 's tune On the Road Again. He then shared a closeup shot and philosophized, 'The bravery one feels alone, half a bottle of wine deep in a hotel far away from home... I know you all get it. #shameisaflaw.' Viewers were then given a jump scare as Jarrett boldly posted his bare side profile, which he took in the hotel bathroom. Acknowledging the risqué nature of his posts, he wrote, 'Sorry mom & fam lol.' But before he wrapped up his time on the app for the night, he wanted to share a video diary. 'Alright, it's time to go to bed. Clearly I've had enough wine and um, thank you guys for all the support and the DMs and yeah, I'm cancelling myself. Goodnight,' Jarrett said before laughing and flashing a peace sign. The next day he had no regrets as he shared a clothed selfie while out and about. Last November the television star abruptly exited Southern Charm while the season was still filming. After two seasons on the reality show, he took to Instagram to announce his departure. According to an account from Page Six, he wrote, 'It comes with a heavy heart to share that I have resigned from Southern Charm. 'Yesterday I informed Bravo that I will not be participating in the 2-3 remaining green room interviews remaining before szn [sic] airs 12/5 (I've done about ~9 thus far leading up to today) and that I no longer wish to participate in any ways moving forward with the TV show.' The string of images was off to an innocuous start, with the Bravo celebrity sharing a tame selfie snapshot from bed, where his lower half was covered by white sheets At the time, Jarrett did not give much context as he added he would 'leave it at that for now' before sharing his intention to 'recover both physically and mentally from what has been an extremely challenging & exhausting year.' He first appeared on the series in season nine, during which he had friction with castmate Austen Kroll, culminating in a physical altercation in the finale. A season 10 trailer later teased him at odds with Madison LeCroy after it was revealed he called her a 'b*tch' behind her back. The star now appears to be focused on exercise, cooking, and his real estate endeavors. His Instagram profile reads, 'Book my Airbnbs and/or Event Space,' and includes a link to '@theinns.'

Brad Pitt burglary: Four teens arrested also targeted other LA stars, say police
Four teenagers have been arrested over a burglary that left actor Brad Pitt's home ransacked, police suspects are allegedly behind a number of "celebrity burglaries" that targeted the houses of actors and professional athletes, Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said the male suspects, two 18-year-olds and two boys aged 17 and 16, are alleged street gang members, and property stolen in the burglaries was found when police searched their did not name those whose homes were targeted by the suspects, but celebrities including Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, LA Dodgers pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto and LA Football Club's Olivier Giroud have reported break-ins this year. The investigation started in late June after Pitt's home was ransacked by a trio of masked thieves. McDonnell said the group hopped a perimeter fence surrounding the Los Feliz home and shattered a window, hopping inside and taking items before fleeing. Police did not confirm the home belonged to the Oscar-winning actor, but the address matched that of a home Pitt bought in large three-bedroom home sits just outside Griffith Park, which is home to the famous Hollywood Sign. It is surrounded by a large fence and greenery that shields the home from public was not home at the time of the burglary and was promoting his new film, F1. The BBC has contacted representatives for the actor. McDonnell said investigators found the suspects were part of a crew that "were burglarizing various high-profile residents throughout the city", which he said included homes of "actors and professional athletes". Last week, authorities followed the four suspects and were able to arrest them on burglary charges, he added. Police did not elaborate on what items were recovered after police searched their homes. McDonnell said burglars like this group had become increasingly smart in their crimes - planting surveillance cameras in nearby flowerbeds or across the street from homes they target to monitor a victim's routine. He said thieves had also been using wi-fi jammers to knock out home surveillance systems and cameras that could alert homeowners or police of a break-in. He noted that celebrities and athletes can be easier targets since their appearances and games are publicised online. He noted, though, that anyone posting on social media about their travels can unknowingly be alerting a potential thief to their location. "We don't really give enough thought to... [while] we want our friends to know where we are and what we're doing, you're telling everybody else then who may be looking to exploit your situation," McDonnell said.
