‘Lovely big horse': Joe Pride out to produce first Godolphin starter

Joe Pride has only put the polish on Kerguelen for a matter of days but is trusting the form stacking up around his new arrival as he looks to train his first Godolphin winner at Royal Randwick on Saturday. Pride will make a call on whether Saturday's Group 2 Missile Stakes favourite Private Eye lines-up on Friday morning with the two-time The Everest placegetter also down to trial at Warwick Farm twenty four hours before the race.

'I would be very disappointed if he wasn't getting the chocolates on Saturday,' Bruce said. 'I will have sweaty palms, you will be thinking you will have never seen this bloke this nervous before. 'But from what this horse has shown me, he deserves to be really short in the betting market. 'But this will be the first time I have had a metropolitan runner start this short in betting. 'I don't think I have trained a horse that has started less than $2 in a metropolitan race.'
