Kai Havertz injury blow forces Arsenal into transfer rethink
Arsenal have suffered a bitter blow with Kai Havertz having picked up a knee injury, causing a rethink of their remaining transfer plans this summer. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, Havertz is set for a spell on the sidelines after suffering the issue and is now undergoing assessments to determine the extent of the injury. Given these are still at an early stage, the prognosis and how long he will be out for is still unclear. The 26-year-old German missed an opening training session at the Emirates on Wednesday morning and his absence means the Gunners will now re-enter the transfer market as they actively explore their options to strengthen the attack and provide cover. Boss Mikel Arteta wants a left winger as competition for Gabriel Martinelli, although already reportedly had to sell before the club is able to buy. The need for a striker now just adds a further wrinkle. Havertz came off the bench on 60 minutes during Sunday's Premier League opening 1-0 win over Manchester United to replace new signing Viktor Gyokeres, who is still getting fully up to speed with life at the Emirates. However, the Swedish international is now the only fully fit and available striker for Arteta, with Gabriel Jesus still recovering from the ACL injury he picked up back in January and not expected to be ready for match action for some time. Winger Leandro Trossard has previously featured as a No 9, and could be an option after recently signing a new contract, while central midfielder Mikel Merino filled in as emergency cover up front for a spell last season when Arsenal ran out of viable forwards. That Merino stint at No 9 partly came due to a previous Havertz injury, when he tore his hamstring during a warm-weather training camp in Dubai in February. He went on to miss 18 matches before returning as a substitute for the final couple of games of the season. The German international has scored 29 goals for the Gunners since joining from Chelsea in the summer of 2023 and his absence will put even more pressure on Gyokeres to quickly adapt to life in the Premier League and prove he can be a prolific goalscorer for a title-chasing team. After the largely unconvincing 1-0 win over Man United, Arsenal next host newly-promoted Leeds on Saturday aiming to avoid any early-season slip-ups as they try to wrest the Premier League trophy out of Liverpool's grasp this year.

TOMMY Fury's dad John brutally banned his son from seeing baby daughter Bambi on Christmas Day in his new documentary. John Fury, who is also father of champion boxer Tyson Fury, told Tommy that he doesn't need "distractions" ahead of his big fight. 4 4 4 On Tommy's new BBC doc - The Good, The Bad, The Fury - the father and son duo clashed. John insisted a festive family reunion with his two-year-old daughter would interfere with Tommy's mindset ahead of the fight. In scenes aired on episode two, John said: "The thing we don't want is distractions. People coming. We don't want it. "Because when you're here and you're talking to people you're not resting. You want to be training eat, drink, sleep, train, repeat. "It's six weeks of hell but you've got another four to six weeks to go and to do the other stuff, haven't you? "All that's out there is the pub, alcohol, s*** food and s*** company." Tommy replied: "That's all I ever do anyway. I don't do nothing else my whole life. Train." John said: "I don't know, Tom. You do enjoy yourself, don't you?," "Not really..." Tommy replied. John said: "If you can't sacrifice six weeks of your time without your children, all that s*** in the world outside. What we doing here?" Tommy was not happy with the decision and said 20 minutes with his daughter on Christmas Day would not change his boxing mentality. Speaking to the camera, Tommy explained why his father had such a staunch view on the matter, saying: "My dad doesn't understand the modern world. "And obviously he's just an old school fella and the way the world is today, you know, even I find it hard to live in the world sometimes today, with the amount of bull**** that's going on." Earlier today The Sun revealed the real reason for Molly-Mae's absence from Tommy's BBC show premiere has been revealed. The social media influencer was missing from the launch of his brand new reality TV series which raised eyebrows despite the pair being back together and claiming to be at "they're happiest". Molly also failed to mark the event on social media and shared no posts to support Tommy and his show. MISSING MOLLY But The Sun understands that Molly skipped the event as she was keen to not "overshadow" the launch of Tommy's programme and let him have his own time in the spotlight following their up and down 12 months. A source told The Sun: "Molly is keen to keep a low profile at the moment. "She is obviously back with Tommy but it's his night and doesn't want to overshadow it. "It's been a funny time for Molly - she's very thick skinned but she's had a lot to deal with and isn't used to backlash." A representative for Molly told The Sun that she was "away working" and very busy which caused her to miss the event. Current social media snaps show Molly enjoying a sunny break away with her best pal, Tayla-Blue. The best friend duo could be seen enjoying a relaxing evening by the beach with their children yesterday evening in snaps shared to Tayla's social media feed. For Tommy, he was joined by his parents in Manchester for a screening of BBC show The Good. The Bad. The Fury, which sees him rehash details of their recent split, as well as make a series of shock revelations about it. In the show, he made the shock revelation that he was downing "20 shots a night" and drinking to get "blackout drunk" ahead of their split last year. He said: "The reason for our ending the relationship was alcohol." He added: "I couldn't train, box, lift weights, that was all gone. "My right hand was messed up, I was in dire pain, it's just what happens over years of impact on the hand. "I had lost my entire identity, lost my life." 4

Man City star is set to pen new five-year deal after Pep Guardiola talks amid Nottingham Forest interest
Rico Lewis is set to sign a new five-year contract with Manchester City, warding off interest from Nottingham Forest. Forest spent last week attempting to secure ambitious deals for both Lewis and James McAtee, the latter signing for an initial £25million over the weekend. Lewis shone during City's opening day victory at Wolves, assisting Erling Haaland 's first goal, and Daily Mail Sport understands negotiations over an extension accelerated quickly early this week. City had been in talks with the 20-year-old over penning fresh terms this summer but had not come to an agreement. Lewis had been left out of the FA Cup final squad in May, which raised questions over his future at the Etihad Stadium. Forest were afforded enough encouragement to bid for the England international but Lewis always wanted to remain at City. The versatile defender made that clear at Molineux on Saturday, insisting that featuring for City was his 'dream' during media duties following the 4-0 win. Talks over a fresh five-year deal, which extends the youngster's current contract by two seasons, then gathered pace earlier this week. Lewis - who held a conversation with Pep Guardiola amid Forest's pursuit - will earn an uplift on his existing terms but City still need to offload players to balance their squad.
