Moufi targets Juventus scalp after Wydad's fearless display against Man City

Fahd Moufi says Wydad AC have nothing to be ashamed of after pushing Manchester City before slipping to a 2-0 loss in their Club World Cup opener – and insists the Moroccan giants can take that fighting spirit into Saturday's showdown with Juventus.
The right-back, who was tireless down the flank in Orlando, admitted Pep Guardiola's side merited the result but believes Wydad's disciplined display showed they belong on football's biggest stage.
'We did a good job against a team as big as Manchester City, despite the defeat,' Moufi told reporters.
'I believe we represented Morocco and the Wydad fans well in this match.
"We must build on this effort by looking for a positive result against Juventus in the next match."
City struck early through Phil Foden and wrapped up the points when Jérémy Doku pounced just before half-time, yet Wydad carved out several first-half openings of their own. Cassius Mailula twice tested Ederson, while Ayoub Zamrouai and Thembinkosi Lorch both went close to an equaliser.
Moufi, 27, praised his team-mates for refusing to fold once they fell behind.
'Everyone ran for each other,' he said. 'When you face players like Foden and Doku you must stay compact and brave. We did that for long spells and created chances.'
The Casablanca club now have little margin for error in Group G. Victory over Juventus – who meet UAE champions Al Ain in the late game – would haul Wydad back into quarter-final contention.
'We recover, we learn and we go again,' Moufi added. 'Juventus are another massive name, but City showed us the level. If we match that intensity, we can surprise them.'
Wydad are carrying continental hopes after South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns opened the tournament with a win in Group F.

Al Hilal will next face English club Manchester City on Monday in Orlando, Florida. Aldawsari, attacking from the left, scored with the ball bouncing off his right foot and soaring over the head of Pachuca goalie Sebastian Jurado to the right side of the goal. The game drew 14,147 to Geodis Park, which has a capacity of 30,000. Key Moment As Pachuca kept trying to keep the pace up, Leonardo scored his first goal of the tournament in the last minute of extra time, dribbling swiftly past Jurado and sending a left-footed shot in to secure Al Hilal's spot in the round of 16. Takeaways Al Hilal is the second team from Group H to move on, as Real Madrid clinched through a 3-0 victory against RB Salzburg. Pachuca ended the tournament winless. Vinicius stars as Real Madrid ease into Club World Cup last 16

The Brazil star opened the scoring after a superb defence-splitting pass by Jude Bellingham on 40 minutes and then set up Federico Valverde for the all-important second goal in first-half stoppage time. Gonzalo Garcia wrapped up the win late on with his second goal of the tournament, and the result means Xabi Alonso's team end the first round of FIFA's new tournament unbeaten. They go through to the knockout stage as Group H winners on seven points, setting up a last-16 tie against Juventus in Miami on Tuesday. Salzburg go out as Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia progress in second place behind Real after defeating already eliminated Pachuca of Mexico 2-0 in Nashville. They play Manchester City in the last 16. Madrid are adjusting in the United States to life under new coach Alonso and were again without top scorer Kylian Mbappe, with the Frenchman thus far not having played at the Club World Cup as he recovers from illness. But there was still plenty of star appeal for the 64,811 fans who filled Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia almost to capacity -- they reserved their loudest cheers for Bellingham and spirits were not dampened by wet, fresh conditions as the blistering heatwave of recent days suddenly lifted. Alonso opted, as during his time in charge of Bayer Leverkusen in Germany, for a back three with Aurelien Tchouameni in between Antonio Rudiger and Dean Huijsen. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fran Garcia played as wing-backs. Real won 5-1 when the teams met in the Champions League in January with Vinicius scoring twice, and the Brazilian was again heavily involved in putting the Austrian team to the sword here. He was denied by goalkeeper Christian Zawieschitzky when clean through on 20 minutes, but made up for that by getting the breakthrough as the interval approached. The goal owed much to a fantastic pass by Bellingham which found Vinicius in between the two Salzburg centre-backs. He held off two chasing defenders and scored with an early left-foot shot low into the corner. It was a 22nd goal of the season in all competitions and one that delighted those backing Real in the crowd. Petar Ratkov had a chance for Salzburg after Arda Guler was dispossessed just outside his own area, but Real scored again to make it 2-0 almost on the half-time whistle. When a rather aimless pass forward by Guler was deflected by Salzburg's Mamady Diambou, Vinicius pounced on the loose ball and continued into the area before producing a clever back-heel to set up Valverde for the goal. Salzburg now needed a favour from Al Hilal to stay in the competition although they did continue to make a fight of it and had chances to reduce the deficit in the second half. Nevertheless, they were picked off on the counter as Madrid got their third with six minutes of the 90 remaining. A ball forward by Alexander-Arnold should have been cut out by Joane Gadou but the young defender's touch was intercepted by Gonzalo Garcia and the young forward ran through before clipping a shot beyond the goalkeeper. Kaku scores go-ahead goal and Al Ain downs Wydad 2-1 at Club World Cup

Both teams were already eliminated from contention for the tournament's knockout round. They went into the final group match without a win in Group G, which was dominated by Juventus and Manchester City. Manchester City defeated Juventus 5-2 simultaneously in Orlando, Florida, to claim the top spot in the group. Wydad coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem was at the game on crutches following a traffic accident with a team physician earlier in the week. No one involved in the accident was seriously injured, but the Moroccan coach was unable to attend the team's news conference the day before the match. Wydad scored in the fourth minute. Cassius Mailula found himself unchallenged at the end of a cross by Mohamed Moufid and beat goalkeeper Rui Patrício at the near post. Mailula is currently on loan to Wydad from Toronto FC in Major League Soccer. Kodjo Laba converted a penalty just before halftime to pull Al Ain even. Al Ain took the lead in the 50th minute when Paraguayan international Kaku finished into the upper right corner. Wydad centerback Jamal Harkass was injured in the run-up to the goal and had to be taken off on a stretcher. Short link:
