Four people arrested for drag racing in Grand Teton National Park
In Wyoming's Grand Teton National Park, where bears and other large animals routinely cross highways, speeding is as dangerous for wildlife as it is for tourists.
So it was troubling Tuesday when rangers received reports of people drag racing on one of the park's scenic highways.
A rapid response involved 12 rangers, according to the Jackson Hole News & Guide, resulting in the arrests of four people and the impoundment of their high-end sports cars.
Park Superintendent Chip Jenkins is quoted: 'This kind of behavior is unsafe, irresponsible, and completely unacceptable in a national park. It puts visitors, staff and wildlife at serious risk.'
Few details were disclosed as the park continues its investigation. But the drag racing was said to have occurred on Teton Park Road, which spans from Jackson Lake Junction to Moose Junction.
ALSO: Tense moments in Yellowstone as dog leaps from vehicle to chase wolf
I was in the park last month and saw a large black bear and several pronghorn feeding along this stretch. Down toward Moose, I saw two actual moose crossing the road.
Just north of Jackson Lake Junction, I spotted a grizzly bear momma with a yearling cub repeatedly crossing Highway 89, creating traffic issues. (See images.)
Many will recall that in early May a 5-year-old grizzly bear was killed as a result of a vehicle strike inside the park. The bear was one of the famous 'quad' siblings born to the legendary Grizzly Bear 399 in 2020.
Sadly, Grizzly Bear 399 died after a vehicle strike south of the park last fall.

Getnick Law Receives Top Ranking from Chambers USA for Accomplishments Representing Plaintiffs in False Claims Act Cases
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Chambers USA's recently released 2025 guide ranks Getnick Law in the top tier for firms in the United States that represent plaintiffs in False Claims Act cases. The Band 1 national ranking, Chambers' highest tier, follows Getnick Law's inclusion in the Chambers 2024 and 2025 New York Spotlight reports, which highlight the top small and medium-sized firms in the state. Since 1990, Chambers & Partners has identified and ranked the best law firms and lawyers globally. Getnick Law's Band 1 national ranking was determined after extensive feedback from lawyer and client interviews conducted by Chambers researchers, which addressed Getnick Law's practice and reputation. Getnick Law's references for the 2025 Guide included these accolades: 'Getnick Law offers complete integrity; it is a law firm you can trust.' 'Getnick Law is a leading False Claims Act law firm. It has a stellar reputation in the legal community and has a track record of success.' 'The firm's knowledge of the law and legal strategy is exemplary.' Getnick Law for decades has been a national leader representing whistleblowers under federal and state whistleblower laws and programs, including the federal and state False Claims Acts and the Internal Revenue Service, Securities and Exchange Commission, U.S. Treasury anti-money laundering and sanctions, and other whistleblower programs. 'This top ranking is a great testament to the hard work of everybody at the firm and to our exceptional clients who often must deal with challenging circumstances to bring forward these important cases,' said Neil Getnick, the managing partner of Getnick Law. Getnick Law has recovered more than $1.5 billion for taxpayers through its whistleblower cases and achieved record awards for its clients. The firm has represented whistleblowers in many groundbreaking cases, including a $750 million civil and criminal settlement with a multinational pharmaceutical company for manufacturing and selling adulterated drugs to government health plans. This resulted in the then-largest award to a single whistleblower for Getnick Law's client. Last year, Getnick Law and co-counsel represented a whistleblower in a groundbreaking $263 million tax fraud recovery from an individual taxpayer. Its client and the two other whistleblowers in the matter received a 30% award – the highest possible under the IRS Whistleblower Program. This settlement is one of the largest tax whistleblower cases ever. Getnick Law is a premier, New York-based, boutique law firm fighting fraud and promoting business integrity by representing whistleblowers under federal and state laws, conducting complex investigations and litigation, and counseling commercial clients throughout the country and internationally.
