Romanian inflation accelerated in May after the leu's decline to a record low during a recent political crisis boosted costs of goods and services.
Consumer prices rose 5.5% from a year earlier, compared with 4.9% in the previous month, the statistics office in Bucharest said on Thursday. That's above the 5.3% median estimate in a Bloomberg survey and the highest since April last year. Prices increased 0.5% on the monthly basis.
