He acknowledged the contributions of his team and thanked them.
"The journey of making The Kerala Story was a team effort and it is the team's victory. It was not made in Mumbai but we went to small villages and cities in Kerala and collected facts for the story. It is a different kind of feeling," he said.
Sen dedicated the National Award win to the girls of Kerala and added, "I hope my hard work and the team's efforts will spread the message about their sufferings and bring consciousness among people."
The filmmaker further hailed the work by 'The Kerala Story' cinematographer, Prashantanu Mahapatra, who also won a National Award for his work in the film.
"He is among the most sensible cinematographers in the country. I have worked with him in my first film and also my first feature. He has a great cinema, light, and visual sense. He impressively depicted the scenic visuals from Kerala and Ladakh. It was a rarest of the rare camera skill," Sen said.

The filmmaker also opened up on how producer Vipul Shah showed faith in him and was moved to tears after hearing the story. "I was frustrated. Vipul Ji came like an
angel
and showed trust in me at that time. He was in tears by the realistic story and was ready to make the film. It is a collective effort by me, Vipul Ji, and the team," he shared.
Meanwhile, Vipul Shah said the win felt "gratifying and satisfying."
"The National Award is the country's biggest honour and the competition is very tough. With hundreds of entries, being appreciated on a national level is very gratifying and satisfying," he said.

Excerpts from an interview: Malayalam filmmaker Jeo Baby has questioned the National Award wins for The Kerala Story this year. Jeo, what's your reaction to the National Film Awards this year? For the past 10 years or so we have seen this pattern. Movies that seem to back the agenda of the ruling parties have won awards at the national level. These awards seem to have no significance now, as they are encouraging plots and scripts that only the people in power believe in. Why have these awards when the movies cannot be treated on merit? What's the value of these awards? Are you personally disappointed that Kaathal - The Core did not win any award? Was it because it dealt with homosexuality? No. Personally, I've no such disappointment. But the awards given to The Kerala Story, a movie that misrepresented facts, is hugely disappointing. Not only was the movie full of lies, it was also shoddily made. The script, direction and acting were below par. Such misrepresentation of facts is quite scary. Previously, movies that won national awards were held in high esteem, even internationally. But the standards seem to have fallen. Awards to undeserving movies are an embarrassment. Our image internationally will be dented if this continues. It's not fair to the domestic viewers either. Sometimes we send our entries only because we feel the technical crew should not miss out on winning a possible award. What's the kind of defence mechanism that independent movie makers can adopt? I would say let's fight this with outstanding movies. Good art is the best defence against fascism. The trolls on social media are a good indication of what people think of these national awards. The audience is mature in many parts of the country, and they can see through this. Don't you think poor selections like these can demotivate good filmmakers? The good filmmakers should stop making movies for awards. Let them concentrate on their craft. There's a lot of good talent in the industry. They should view these awards in a humorous way. Do you think the jury was under pressure? I'm not sure. Maybe they have instructions from the top. Many of the best movies ever made, even globally, are those that challenged norms, were anti-establishment and spoke truth to power. Yes, I agree. That's why I say that directors should not think of awards as an end goal. Let them make movies without fear or favour.

Logan Marshall-Green joins Yellowstone spin-off series Y: Marshals cast
Washington DC [US], August 7 (ANI): Actor Logan Marshall-Green has joined the cast of the upcoming spinoff of the 'Yellowstone' series, 'Y: Marshals', which centres on Luke Grimes' character Kayce Dutton, reported Variety. According to the outlet, Marshall-Green will play the role of Pete Calvin, a friend from Kayce's time in the logline of the series states, 'With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region's war on violence," as quoted by Variety. According to the outlet, 'Y: Marshals' was first reported to be in the works at CBS in March. The network gave the show, which is slated to premiere midway through the 2025-2026 broadcast season, a 13-episode order.
