Jamkhandi maintains good record in NMMS exam
Bagalkot: A student from the Jamkhandi educational block in Bagalkot district attained first rank in the state in the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) exam. Additionally, the block has witnessed the success of about 100 students over the past five years. Thanks to the collective efforts of officials and teachers, the block has drawn the attention of education enthusiasts in the North Karnataka region. AK Basannavar, block education officer (BEO) of Jamkhandi, told TOI that Bheerappa Dandinavar, a student of Hanagandi Govt Primary School No.1, attained first rank in the state in the NMMS examinations, marking a milestone among the talented but economically and socially backward students. "Additionally, our block, which includes Jamkhandi and Rabakavi-Banahatti taluks, stood in second place in the overall result of NMMS in the state. We have appointed guiding teachers for NMMS exams and convened their meetings at the block level. We conducted workshops by inviting resource persons for interested students before and after school hours. Later, we conducted a taluk-level workshop for such students," he shared. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like NYC Hotel Smartphone Booking | Bookmark Now! | New York City Hotel Booking | Mill Canyon Road Click Here BD Nemagoud, a teacher, stated that the block has been tasting success in NMMS exams and all other exams for the past five years due to the inspiration of the BEO and all other officials. "Especially, the BEO believes that students' achievements themselves are better documents to prove our teaching abilities. Thanks to his efforts, LKG and UKG classes have started in 14 govt schools. Some school development and monitoring committee (SDMC) members and teachers are paying some expenses from their own pockets for this initiative," he stated. Iftiyar Kashimsab Avate and Dayanand Magadum, SDMC presidents, said that govt schools are attracting students right from LKG due to the collective efforts of officials and teachers in recent years. "Many organisations like Jamats and temple committees are contributing to initiatives taken in the interest of students," they acknowledged. About NMMS NMMS is an examination conducted for students studying in class 8 in govt and aided schools. Successful students receive a scholarship of Rs 1,000 per month up to class 12, but they should continue their studies in govt or aided schools.
