MHA transfers IAS, IPS officers from Arunachal in major shake-up
Itanagar: The ministry of home affairs (MHA) has ordered the transfer of several key IAS and IPS officers, including officers from Arunachal Pradesh, in a significant reshuffle of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre.
Talo Potom, an IAS officer of the 2016 batch known for his administrative leadership in Itanagar and various state departments, has been transferred to New Delhi. His tenure in Arunachal Pradesh saw him play a central role in managing urban development and public grievances.

Singh has served as SP of several districts and was widely recognised for his contributions to law enforcement and public safety, particularly during the implementation of Operation Dawn.
Mittal, known for his work in intelligence and anti-narcotics operations, also played a key role in maintaining law and order in sensitive areas.
The reshuffle order, issued by the MHA, is part of a broader administrative reallocation across the AGMUT cadre and takes effect immediately.
Other IAS officers transferred from Arunachal Pradesh include Krishna Kumar Singh (2012 batch), Soumya Saurabh (2014), and Shashwat Saurabh (2016) — all of whom have been posted to Delhi.

Bengaluru stampede: Railways minister Somanna slams government response to stampede
Union minister of state for railways V Somanna on Sunday stated that even an entire year's state budget can't compensate for the tragic loss of lives in the stampede at Chinnaswamy Stadium. His remarks came in response to questions from the media on the govt's revised compensation of Rs 25 lakh per victim, up from the initial Rs 10 lakh. "It was known that Royal Challengers Bengaluru reached the IPL final... the authorities should have planned accordingly. Unfortunately, the chief minister mishandled the situation. Perhaps he acted on poor advice from his associates," said Somanna. The minister also criticised the suspension of police commissioner B Dayananda, calling it unjust. "I've known the work of the IPS officer for many years. His suspension is unfair, especially when he had no direct role in the stampede. It was a good decision to appoint him as commissioner, and he should be reinstated immediately. The govt has gone off track, and it must be held accountable for this tragedy," he added. Reflecting on his past association with Siddaramaiah, Somanna expressed disappointment over what he described as a shift in his leadership style.

Centre hands over Bajrang Dal activist Suhas Shetty murder case to NIA
ANI 08 Jun 2025, 20:40 GMT+10 New Delhi [India], June 8 (ANI): The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has handed over the investigation into the murder of former Bajrang Dal activist Suhas Shetty to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), marking a significant move amid rising concerns over possible larger conspiracies behind the incident. Shetty, a prominent right-wing youth leader associated with the Bajrang Dal in Karnataka's coastal belt, was brutally murdered last month in Sullia town of Dakshina Kannada district. The activist, in his early 30s, was attacked by unidentified assailants while returning home late at night. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot. The incident triggered widespread protests in the region, with local Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) units alleging a targeted killing. Official sources, privy to the development, told ANI that 'the MHA has handed over the case to the NIA for investigation and registration.' On May 1, a group of people came in two vehicles and blocked the way of Shetty, who was moving in a car with his friends. They then hacked Shetty to death. With the latest arrests by Mangaluru Police, a total of 11 persons have been held so far in the case. (ANI)
