Mixed bag of winter weather for Valentine's weekend
(WBRE/WYOU) — A winter storm will move across the Northeast this weekend. Once again, we're expecting a 'mixed bag' across central and northeastern Pennsylvania.
Snow will develop on Saturday between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. For the most part, 2-4″ will accumulate prior to the changeover to a wintry mix in the evening.
Highs on Saturday will be in the lower and middle 30s, but that will likely happen in the evening.
Temperatures will hold steady or slowly rise through the 30s into early Sunday morning. Then, we'll head into the middle and upper 40s on Sunday afternoon.
Weather Alerts
On Sunday, it will be warm enough that any early morning mix will change to all rain. At times, the rain will be heavy. You can expect the wind to pick up through the afternoon and evening.
Don't get too comfortable with the mild air. It will become much colder on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Highs will be in the lower and middle 20s. Morning temperatures will be in the single digits and teens. Scattered flurries and snow showers will be here on Monday with a gusty northwest wind. We should see more sunshine on Tuesday only for the clouds to take over on Wednesday.

Photos: Wind and rain shake up otherwise lazy Sunday
PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Wind and rain brought a temporary respite from the blazing sun Sunday. The weather also made for some interesting cloud formations (below). The precipitation temporarily interrupted the North American sand Soccer Championships taking place at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. WAVY meteorologist Don Slater breaks down how it all played out: As expected, an active low pressure system (a mini-cyclone) moved eastward from halfway across the U.S. to get us this morning. We had numerous severe thunderstorm warnings from 5:47am to 9:45am, but damage appears to be limited to trees and power lines down. That damage was mostly in Southampton County, VA. Though we did see tree and power line damage in southern Chesapeake. After some quiet time in the late morning and early afternoon, it was also expected that we could see some severe weather in the afternoon. And though the thunderstorms were more widely scattered, we did get some damage to trees in James City County. As of 9:00 pm, more thunderstorms are approaching from the west…especially for areas from the Peninsula and northward. First Baptist Church of Timpson damaged during severe weather
TIMPSON, Texas (KETK) – The First Baptist Church in Timpson had much of its brick facade blown off by severe weather moving through the area on Sunday. Interactive Radar In photos submitted to KETK by a Timpson resident, bricks can be seen strewn around on the ground in front of the church. The bricks also fell on top of the church's awning that used to be over their front door but was crushed by the bricks. Sunday was the day of Pentecost and the church had a service in the morning before a severe storm came through the area at around 5 p.m. According to the church's Facebook, they were planning to start their vacation bible school on Monday. Shelby County was under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 7:45 p.m. and is currently under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m. on Sunday night. Storm Team 3: Weather Aware Monday, Summer Weather Sticks Around
Overnight Warm and humid conditions continue this evening and overnight. A 20% chance of stray showers and storms cannot be ruled out before daybreak. Weather Aware Monday Monday features similar conditions to Sunday with a warm, humid, uneventful start. Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s with heat index values upwards of 100°. Scattered thunderstorms again come into play for the afternoon. We will be Weather Aware again on Monday. Some remnant energy of a storm complex will entangle with daily seabreeze storms and lead to the potential for strong and severe storms. More intense cells will be capable of damaging straight-line wind gusts and small hail. Frequent lightning and heavy rainfall are expected as well. Summer Pattern Sticks Around Scattered storm chances continue through the week as the summer-like pattern is locked in. There is the risk for isolated severe storms Tuesday.
