Temperatures soar to 48°C in Oman; health warnings issued
Muscat: Nizwa and Adam stations in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate has recorded the highest temperature in the Sultanate of Oman which 48 degrees Celsius.
According to Oman Meteorology, Nizwa and Adam stations recorded a temperature rise of 48 degrees Celsius, followed by Al Qabil and Mahout stations, with temperatures reaching 47 degrees Celsius.
Due to the high temperatures today, please avoid direct sunlight, especially during the afternoon, to prevent heat stroke.
Heatstroke, heat exhaustion, and other symptoms associated with high temperatures are common, especially since many jobs and field activities require workers to be exposed to sunlight and high temperatures. To reduce and prevent heatstroke, it is recommended to:
-Regulate and specify working hours so that there are breaks during peak temperatures.
-Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, especially during the afternoon.
-Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

Awareness seminar in Al Rustaq discusses ways to protect elderly from abuse
Al Rustaq: The fifth awareness seminar on Elder Abuse was held on Thursday in the Wilayat of Al Rustaq, organised by the Ehssan Association branch in South Al Batinah Governorate under the patronage of Dr. Yahya Sulaiman Al Nadabi, Wali of A'Rustaq. The seminar's programme included an awareness video titled 'No to Elder Abuse', which highlighted the various forms of abuse that the elderly may face and their psychological and social impact. The event featured several working papers, beginning with a presentation by Walid Said Al Badi titled 'The Role of the Omani Human Rights Commission in Promoting and Protecting the Rights of the Elderly'. Dr. Hilal Abdullah Al Kharousi then presented a paper on 'The Rights of the Elderly in Islam: Divine Honor and Human Responsibility', while Nahid Ali Al Jameel delivered a paper on 'Home Healthcare as a Strategic Option for Protecting the Elderly'. The programme concluded with a joint working paper titled 'The Social Protection Fund and Ensuring Stability in Old Age', presented by Rahma Mohammed Al Rawahi and Iman Salim Al-Shibibi. The seminar also included a dialogue session discussing key challenges and possible solutions in elderly care. At the end of the event, participants were honored, and the association's second ambulance—dedicated to serving the elderly in the governorate—was officially launched.

University of Nizwa's School of Pharmacy Earns ACPE International Accreditation
The University of Nizwa proudly announces that its Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) program has been awarded international accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) — a significant milestone that positions the university at the forefront of pharmaceutical education in the region. This achievement marks the first international accreditation of its kind for a pharmacy program in Oman, and the first program at the University of Nizwa to obtain such international recognition. The school is also expected to relocate to a state-of-the-art campus by 2026, further enhancing its capabilities and student experience. Dr. Salem Al Touby, Dean of the College of Health Sciences, reflected on the milestone by stating: 'This recognition is a testament to the dedication and teamwork of our faculty, the strength of our curriculum, and our commitment to delivering internationally benchmarked education that serves both our students and the broader healthcare system.' The ACPE accreditation is valid through June 30, 2027. The School of Pharmacy has already begun implementing a long-term action plan to ensure continuous compliance and quality improvement in preparation for future reaccreditation efforts.
