Intermittent fasting (IF) is s type of diet pattern, the practice of abstaining from or significantly reducing food intake for a set period of time. This trend is basically started for weight reduction and later promoted to reversal of diabetes and liver health. Intermittent fasting is based on the idea that fasting induces metabolic switching from liver-derived glucose to adipose cell–derived ketones. Cells activate metabolic pathway that enhance intrinsic defenses against oxidative and metabolic stress in the body. This helps in removing the damaged cells and repair the damaged cells.
