CM Devendra Fadnavis directs all departments to prepare vision document for 'Viksit Maharashtra 2047'
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 3 (ANI): Maharashtra Government's Planning Department has issued a resolution for all its departments, directing them to prepare a vision document for the subject 'Viksit Maharashtra 2047 vision document.'
This will be on the lines of the Union Government's scheme of Viksit Bharat 2047 as outlined by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has set a 150-day time period from May 6 to October 2, to prepare the document, which will primarily focus on a phase-wise vision.

The midterm phase includes vision or plans to prepare a plan for Maharashtra 2035, when state will complete its 75 years of its foundation.
The third phase includes short term plan to prepare a vision document for October 2029, when the present government will complete its five years term.
Earlier in May, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog at Bharat Mandapam where he said that all the states should work together to make India a developed country and achieve the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
Prime Minister Modi said that we should commit to developing every state, every city, and every village, and only then would we be able to make the country a Viksit Bharat.
The meeting was attended by Chief Ministers and Lieutenant Governors, representing 24 states and seven Union Territories.
This year, the theme for the meeting was 'Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047'. The meeting commenced with a minute of silence in remembrance of the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
The Prime Minister also asked NITI Aayog to study the suggestions of States and UTs made during the meeting.
He said the 10th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog is a milestone of its 10 years of journey which defines and outlines the vision for 2047.
PM Modi observed that the Governing Council Meetings have helped in nation building and it has emerged as a platform for joint action and shared aspirations.

"US Has Understood That India...": Shashi Tharoor On Ties With Pakistan
New Delhi: The US has clearly understood India's position that there can be no dialogue with Pakistan with a "gun pointed at our head", Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has said. Mr Tharoor, who is leading an all-party delegation to the US to brief key stakeholders on Operation Sindoor, also dismissed Washington's claims that its trade diplomacy played a major role in averting a conflict between India and Pakistan. He was speaking at an interaction session at the National Press Club in the US on Wednesday when he made the remarks. "I think the US has understood for some time now that India has a very clear position that there will be no talks with a gun pointed at our head. It's not that we can't talk to Pakistan. I was joking the other day, we can speak all the languages they can speak and we're very happy to dialogue with them in any of those languages," the Lok Sabha MP from Thiruvananthapuram said when asked about Washington's role in encouraging talks between India and Pakistan. "The problem is we will not dialogue with people who are pointing a gun at our heads," he added. #WATCH | Washington DC | "I think the US has understood for some time now that India has a very clear position that there will be no talks with a gun pointed at our head... The problem is that we will not deal with people who are pointing a gun at our heads. I mean frankly, if… — ANI (@ANI) June 4, 2025 Mr Tharoor, who heads the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, explained that "if your neighbour unleashes his Rottweilers to bite your children and in fact to do worse to your children and then says let's talk, you think he's going to talk to them until he either unleashes those Rottweilers or locks them up in a kennel or puts them to sleep?" "It's as simple as that. You're not going to talk to people who are pointing guns at your temples. It's not going to happen," he said. India has repeatedly said that any engagement with Pakistan will have to be "bilateral". It has also said that it will not engage with its neighbour on issues such as trade or the Indus Waters Treaty as long as the latter supports cross-border terrorism. On India's expectations from the ongoing US visit, Mr Tharoor said: "We aren't really here to negotiate outcomes. That's the job of the government. Our job is to enhance understanding, to clarify our position and to explain if there are any questions or misapprehensions on the part of our interlocutors, we'd be very happy to address them." "We're just saying, this is our position, we want you to understand, and if you have any questions, we'll answer them, but that's it. We're not asking them to do anything other than to understand our point of view, to express their solidarity and to stand with us if it happens again. I mean, we have no illusions," he added. #WATCH | Interacting with the Indian diaspora in Washington, DC, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says "...There's been a very wide, impressive cross-section of legislators who met us, spoken to us. I must say our purpose in coming was actually very simple. Lay out what we've been… — ANI (@ANI) June 5, 2025 The Congress leader said the delegation is not seeking anything specific from the US visit. "It's not that we've come here saying, would you do this for us? That's not what this is all about and that's true by the way in every country we've been to," he said. Referring to India's attack on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor - carried out in retaliation to the Pahalgam terror attack - last month, the Congress leader said: "These buildings we've destroyed and the terror camps can be built again in six months, nine months, who knows? The problem is, if they think they can keep doing this to us, they've got another thing coming because we are not going to take it. If they hit us, we will hit them back." He added that India wants the world to understand "not only what just happened, but what could happen again if Pakistan does not control these elements on its soil". Terrific to see you again @RepRoKhanna! We are grateful for the strong support of the #IndiaCaucus in the House of Representatives! — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) June 4, 2025 The Congress leader refuted US President Donald Trump's claims of preventing a possible war between India and Pakistan using trade. "That's not the impression I have. It is a public record that there were calls coming from various foreign ministers to our foreign minister, to our national security advisor, and the US was amongst the most active in this regard and that Secretary Rubio spoke to his Indian counterpart, (S) one point, Mr Vance, the Vice President called our Prime Minister. So, there were a lot of calls being made and that's true also the foreign ministers of the UAE, of Saudi Arabia, France and so on. Many countries were concerned," he said. "My understanding is that in none of these calls was trade ever mentioned, not one. And certainly our information is that from our side, we gave a consistent response which corresponds to what I've just said to all of you, that we are only taking retribution for a terrorist attack, we are not interested in prolonging this conflict," he added. Great to meet you and your @SenateForeign colleagues, @SenMcCormickPA! We greatly valued all of you finding the time for us on a busy day and expressing your solidarity with our fight against terrorism. We also appreciated your enthusiasm for greater and stronger cooperation… — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) June 5, 2025 He stressed that India has the right to defend itself. "If Pakistan hits us, we will head back because we have a right of self-defence. If Pakistan stops, we will stop. So we didn't need persuading to stop. And that message was given regularly to everybody else who called," he said, referring to the ceasefire on May 10, after four days of military engagement between the two sides. "I knew that some of this was actually out on the Twitter timeline of our foreign minister. So, it was an open thing that we're talking to people and letting them know we're ready to call this off any time the others do. And the others were the ones who were prolonging it. Only Pakistan had one foot on the escalator ladder, not India. In every case they initiated, we retaliated," he said.

'No Dialogue With People Pointing Gun At Our Heads': Shashi Tharoor's Stern Message To Pakistan
Last Updated: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, leading an all-party US delegation, stressed no dialogue with Pakistan is possible amid terror threats. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is heading an all-party delegation to the United States, on Wednesday, underlined that no dialogue is possible with Pakistan till they have 'a gun pointed at our head." He warned that the action taken by India now can be taken again if Pakistan does not control terror elements on its soil. While speaking at an interaction session at the National Press Club in the US on Wednesday (local time), Tharoor said he believes that the United States has understood India's stand is clear that there will be 'no talks with a gun pointed at our head." When questioned about the United States' role in brokering peace talks between India and Pakistan, Tharoor said, 'I think the US has understood for some time now that India has a very clear position that there will be no talks with a gun pointed at our head. It's not that we can't talk to Pakistan. I was joking the other day, we can speak all the languages they can speak and we're very happy to dialogue with them in any of those languages." #WATCH | Washington DC | 'I think the US has understood for some time now that India has a very clear position that there will be no talks with a gun pointed at our head… The problem is that we will not deal with people who are pointing a gun at our heads. You're not going to talk to people who are pointing guns at your temples. It's not going to happen," he added. Tharoor further underlined that the all-party parliamentary delegation is visiting the United States to speak about India's stance and give an explanation regarding any misapprehensions on the part of interlocutors. He stated that the delegation aims at explaining India's stance, and they do not want countries to do anything apart from understanding India's point of view in the latest escalation with Pakistan. 'We aren't really here to negotiate outcomes. That's the job of the government. Our job is to enhance understanding, to clarify our position and to explain if there are any questions or misapprehensions on the part of our interlocutors, we'd be very happy to address them," Tharoor said. 'We're just saying, this is our position, we want you to understand, and if you have any questions, we'll answer them, but that's it. Tharoor further rejected US President Donald Trump's claims that he is responsible for stopping the war between India and Pakistan using trade. On Trump's claims, Tharoor said, 'My understanding is that none of these calls was trade ever mentioned, not one. And certainly our information is that from our side, we gave a consistent response throughout, which corresponds to what I've just said to all of you, that we are only taking retribution for a terrorist attack, we are not interested in prolonging this conflict. Tharoor Says 'Whose Fault Is That' Ove Pak's Claims Of Being Victims Of Terrorism Speaking about Pakistan's claims that they are victims of terrorism, Tharoor said, 'This (Pakistan) delegation is going around saying we are also victims of terrorism, we have lost more lives to terrorism than India has. We turn around and say- whose fault is that? As Hillary Clinton famously said 10 years ago. You can't breed vipers in your backyard and expect them to bite only your neighbours…That's why they (Pakistan) are now getting terrorists attacked by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, but who created the Taliban from which the Tehrik-i-Taliban broke off?" The delegation headed by Tharoor reached the United States on Wednesday. The delegation included Shambhavi Chaudhary (Lok Janshakti Party), Sarfaraz Ahmed (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha), G M Harish Balayogi (Telugu Desam Party), Shashank Mani Tripathi, Tejaswi Surya, Bhubaneswar Kalita (all from BJP), Mallikarjun Devda (Shiv Sena), former Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu, and Shiv Sena MP Milind Deora. The all-party delegation was given the task of briefing key stakeholders in the US on Operation Sindoor. On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed. The Indian Armed Forces hit terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and killed more than 100 terrorists affiliated with groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. CM Siddaramaiah on Bengaluru stampede: ‘50-60 people died in Kumbh Mela, did Karnataka govt criticise?'
Following the stampede near the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that he would not justify the mishap by drawing comparisons with similar tragedies elsewhere, like in Kumbh Mela. Speaking to the media, Siddaramaiah said that he did not criticise when several people lost their lives in a stampede at the Mahakumbh. "Such incidents happened in so many places. I am not going to defend this by comparing it with them now by saying it happened here and there. In Kumbh Mela, 50-60 people died, I didn't criticise it," he said. "If Congress criticises, then that is a different matter. Did I or the Karnataka government criticise?" CM Siddaramaiah said. Addressing a press conference, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that the government will also provide free treatment to the injured. "A major tragedy occurred during the victory celebrations. It happened near the Chinnaswamy Stadium. The government has announced a compensation of ₹ 10 lakh for the deceased. The government will provide free treatment to the injured," the CM said. Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, CM Siddaramaiah said, "11 died and 33 were injured in the stampede. This tragedy should not have happened. The government expresses deep sorrow over this incident." The Karnataka CM further asserted that he has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. "I don't want to defend this incident. Our government will not do politics on this. I have ordered a magisterial inquiry and given 15 days' time. People even broke the gates of the stadium. There was a stampede. No one expected such a huge crowd. The stadium has a capacity of only 35,000 people, but 2-3 lakh people came," CM Siddaramaiah said. Fans in thousands gathered outside the Stadium in Bengaluru to catch a glimpse of their champion team. RCB finally ended an 18-year wait for the coveted IPL trophy, defeating Punjab Kings by six wickets in the finals of IPL 2025, held on Tuesday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as "absolutely heartrending". In a statement by the Prime Minister's Office, the Prime Minister extended his thoughts to the families of the deceased while praying for the speedy recovery of those injured. "The mishap in Bengaluru is absolutely heartrending. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured have a speedy recovery: PM Narendra Modi," PMO stated on X. (ANI)
