
Contractor charged with using false documents in RM50,000 claim
Fakhruziyahdy Shaari, 53, was charged with using a set of forged documents regarding maintenance work on 16 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the Community Rehabilitation Centre, Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah Camp in Kem Lapangan Terbang Sungai Petani on Nov 20, 2017.
The charge, under Section 471 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 465, provides for a maximum jail term of two years or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
The court set bail at RM10,000 with one surety and set Aug 19 for mention. – Bernama

Foreigner arrested for sexually harassing teenage girl
KUALA LUMPUR: A foreigner has been remanded for three days over the alleged sexual harassment of a teenage girl in Bukit Sentosa, Hulu Selangor. Hulu Selangor police chief Superintendent Ibrahim Husin said the suspect was arrested on Sunday following a police report lodged by the victim about 3pm. "Based on public information, the district police headquarters Criminal Investigation Department managed to apprehend the 21-year-old suspect in Bukit Sentosa. "Checks showed that the suspect had no prior criminal record, and his urine test returned negative for drug use," he said in a statement. The foreigner is liable to a maximum prison sentence of 10 years, a fine of up to RM20,000, or both, if found guilty.

Cops nab foreigner suspected of molesting girl in Rawang
KUALA LUMPUR: A foreign man who is suspected of molesting a teenage girl in Bukit Sentosa, Rawang recently has been arrested by the police. Hulu Selangor district police chief Supt Ibrahim Husin said the man was arrested after the police received a report from the victim around 3pm on Sunday. "The suspect, 21, was arrested by the Hulu Selangor district police headquarters criminal investigation division thanks to a public tipoff," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Aug 5), adding that the suspect did not have a prior criminal record and tested negative for drugs. The suspect has been remanded for three days from Tuesday till Aug 7 for further investigation under Section 15(a)(1) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, he added. – Bernama

Suspect in police stabbing case to be charged tomorrow
KUALA LUMPUR: A 56-year-old man accused of stabbing a policeman during a crime prevention patrol at Pasar Pudu, Jalan Yew, will be charged tomorrow. He is scheduled to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Court at 9am. Acting Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said the man was arrested after the incident and found with a knife. "Also seized were three clear plastic packets containing powder and chunks believed to be drugs. "The case is being investigated under Sections 307/186 of the Penal Code for attempted murder with a weapon and obstructing a public servant from performing his duties," he said. The attack occurred when the injured policeman and four colleagues were inspecting the suspect.
