Rapper and songwriter
Raja Kumari
has voiced her strong disapproval of
Cartier
's reported decision to deny
the iconic
Patiala necklace

She argued that while the "West still exoticizes us," South Asian artists are "pushing back, saying that we're more than their stereotype."
Raja Kumari's take on the representation of South Asian artists in the West
The rapper discussed the evolving representation of South Asian artists in Western media. She recalled her earlier experiences as a songwriter, where she was often referred to as "India or Yogi" and sometimes played into stereotypical themes in her lyrics.
However, she emphasized the significant progress, stating, "Now there are more South Asian stories being told — not just by musicians, but also actors, writers, and directors."
Raja Kumari's Voices against Cartier's decision
Addressing the situation with Diljit Dosanjh and the Cartier necklace, Raja Kumari expressed her frustration. "For instance, why didn't Cartier give Diljit the legendary Patiala necklace for his Met Gala appearance? Instead, they gave it to a YouTuber (Emma Chamberlain) two years ago.
That kind of erasure is infuriating. It's performative inclusion." She further highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by South Asian artists in maintaining their cultural identity, referencing her own experience: "They (US music label) couldn't understand why I insisted on wearing a bindi. That inspired my song, Bindis and Bangles."
Diljit Dosanjh's Met Gala look and the Patiala Necklace
For his Met Gala appearance, Diljit Dosanjh embraced a regal Maharaja aesthetic in a custom Prabal Gurung ensemble, featuring a turban, kurta, and tehmat, complemented by a sword.

His team reportedly attempted to secure the Patiala necklace for the event but were unsuccessful. The Patiala necklace, commissioned by the Maharaja of Patiala from Cartier in 1928, was an extraordinary piece weighing 1,000 carats and containing 2,900 diamonds, valued at ₹10 crore at the time (equivalent to approximately $2.5 billion or ₹21,000 crore today).
Contradictory reports on the necklace's availability
According to a report in the New York Times, Diljit's stylist, Abhilasha Devnani, "tried to borrow that iconic Cartier necklace for the night" but was informed that "it sits sealed in a museum."
However, Raja Kumari's statement references Emma Chamberlain wearing a Cartier choker in 2022 that was reportedly a part of the Patiala Necklace, creating a contradiction regarding the necklace's accessibility and leading to accusations of selective and "performative inclusion."

When Will Suga, Only BTS Member In Military Service Now, Be Discharged? Know Here

Before enlisting, Suga released his solo studio album 'D-Day" under the name Agust D. With his discharge date approaching, fans are eagerly anticipating his return to music and the group's reunion, which is expected to occur later in 2025. Why Did BTS Members Serve In The Military? BTS members served in the military due to South Korea's mandatory military service law, which requires all able-bodied men between 18 and 35 to serve for approximately 18-21 months in the country's military. This law aims to maintain national security and protect the country's sovereignty, as military service in South Korea is considered a civic duty and a patriotic obligation. BTS Reunion Soon? Since BTS members have now ended their mandatory military service, ARMYs from across the world are excited to know about the group's future plans. Recently, eagle-eyed ARMYs also noticed that J-Hope was wearing the same outfit during his outing, which the group once wore on their iconic Run BTS episode. This sparked speculation and excitement, with many hoping that some BTS members might join him on stage. With most members, except Suga, nearing the end of their military service, a surprise group appearance doesn't seem entirely out of reach. In an earlier interview with Apple Music 1's The Zane Lowe Show, J-Hope, speaking about BTS's future, said, 'I think that over time, we each refined our unique identities as each of us work on their own music, come out with their solo projects and do their own thing. The funny thing for me is when our identities, which have taken shape in various ways, come together as BTS, I'm curious to see what it'll look like. We will quickly get together and talk about what BTS can do in the future. I think it's going to be a massive energy."

Bruce Springsteens Berlin concert echoes with history and a stark warning

Last Updated: Berlin, Jun 11 (AP) Veteran rock star Bruce Springsteen, a high-profile critic of President Donald Trump, slammed the US administration as 'corrupt, incompetent and treasonous" during a concert on Wednesday in Berlin. He was addressing tens of thousands of fans at a stadium built for the 1936 Olympic Games that still bears the scars of World War II and contains relics from the country's dark Nazi past. 'Tonight, we ask all who believe in democracy and the best of our American experiment to rise with us, raise your voices, stand with us against authoritarianism, and let freedom reign," he said. Springsteen, long a political opponent of the president, has made increasingly pointed and contentious public statements in recent concerts. He denounced Trump's politics during a concert last month in Manchester, calling him an 'unfit president" leading a 'rogue government" of people who have 'no concern or idea for what it means to be deeply American." Springsteen is no stranger to Berlin. In July 1988, he became one of the first Western musicians to perform in East Germany, performing to a ravenous crowd of 1,60,000 East Germans yearning for American rock 'n' roll and the freedom it represented to the youth living under the crumbling communist regime. An Associated Press news story from that period says 'fireworks steaked through the sky" and hundreds of people in the audience waved handmade American flags as they sang along to 'Born in the USA." Almost four decades later, Springsteen issued a stark warning, 'The America that I love, the America that I've sung to you about, that has been a beacon of hope and liberty for 250 years, is currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous administration."
