Bringing a child into the world is a joyous occasion for many parents. It's also a significant time that cannot be compared to anything else.
Over the weekend, a few people at the Brookfield Zoo Chicago in Illinois were able to witness one such moment and create a memory they'll never forget. A video posted by @abcnews captures the exact minute that Allie the Bottlenose Dolphin gave birth to her baby calf, and this jaw-dropping scene will leave you in complete awe.
What an amazing moment to see! According to the TikTok post caption, this dolphin birth was a rare occurrence. In fact, they noted, "The baby is the first calf to be born at the zoo in a decade." Wow! It's clear everyone there had such a unique experience seeing the birth.
As shown in the video, this mama dolphin had her baby, and the audience was stunned. So many of them offered up "Aww's" and cheered at the sight of this newborn coming into the world. And as excited as they were to watch this sight in person, viewers online are equally as elated to catch a glimpse of this meaningful time between mom and baby. It's known that dolphins are very intelligent, and commenters had a few things to say about the baby's natural instincts. Right after this little one was born, the calf already knew to head for the surface.
"It's absolutely mind-boggling that mammals that breathe air can be born underwater and know immediately to surface for air," wrote @themechanicdad, and they're not alone in being amazed. @noskytcg remarked, "Bro was born and immediately knew what to do in life." Could this baby dolphin already be ahead of the game?
One thing is clear: This baby dolphin has a caring mama and community. Mama Allie was there every step of the way post birth to guide her baby and make sure they were alright. She wasn't alone, either. Commenter @thedawnofhannah even asked, "Is the other dolphin a midwife or something?" According to the Brookfield Zoo Chicago Facebook page, the mama dolphin named Tapeko was nearby to lend support if needed.
This baby dolphin is already so loved! For now, mama and baby will get some alone time to bond. The staff will be monitoring them, but as of now, mama and baby are healthy and happy. Make sure to keep up with the Brookfield Zoo Chicago on social media to see more of this little dolphin.

LEGO Isn't Only Treating Star Wars Fans, Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle Set Drops to New Record Low Price
Build this lovely set up piece-by-piece and then just enjoy it as a set-piece for $144. If you're looking for a gift to get someone who loves Harry Potter, then you're probably staring at a long list of options, all of them feeling a little bit overwhelming. There are plenty of things to choose from, sure, but how many of them will be really special? Well, the answer to this conundrum, and plenty of other ones, is Lego. See at Amazon That's because you can currently grab the Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle and Grounds set with 15% off. This thing is an absolute beauty once it's all put together, and it's sure to offer plenty of joy to any fan you manage to get it for. Yes, that includes yourself if you're just looking for an excuse to get a little treat. Your Letter Is Here As with so many modern Lego sets, the aim here isn't really to play. The aim here is, instead, to spend a few really quality hours building it. You can do that alone, sure, but building it with a friend or some family can make for a really solid way to spend a few evenings and bond a little bit too. There's a lot of fun to be had meticulously putting together any Lego set, but especially when it's one as grandiose as this. That's just the first part of the fun though, the rest of the fun is a little bit more passive. You then get to have this on a shelf, mantlepiece, or even your desk if you've got enough space, and then just smile to yourself as you walk past it. It's worth noting you do need to actually build the 2,660 piece set first, and when we say it's going to be a few evenings, we mean if you're dedicated and putting some serious hours in. The end result is pretty massive too. It measures 21 cm high, 35 cm wide, and 25 cm deep, so you'll need a big enough place to actually display it. As long as you've got that though, you'll be able to enjoy the set for as long as you want to, and maybe even use it as the start of a collection that'll last you for years to come. That's a lot of happiness out of just one thing, and given that it's down to $144 for a limited time, that's all the more reason to treat yourself for once. There's no telling when this set will go on sale again, so don't miss out. See at Amazon

The World's Best IPA—According To The International Beer And Cider Awards
IPA subcategories dominated entries at the International Beer and Cider Awards this year. getty The best IPA gold medal winners in various IPA subcategories were recently announced at this year's International Beer and Cider Awards. In early June, judges tasted 1436 entries at this year's competition held in Idaho Falls. The competition divided IPAs into 10 categories that celebrate a diverse range of hop-forward beers ranging from English-style IPAs to experimental IPAs and the ever-popular hazy IPAs. As expected, breweries entered more IPAs in the category than other styles. 'IPA entries continue to dominate the competition,' Lisa Smith, vice president of the North American Brewers Association, which runs the competition, told me via email. As is standard for beer competitions, only three medals are awarded per category: gold, silver and bronze. Though the competition is open to breweries across the globe, American-made craft beers dominated the IPA category. West Coast breweries had a good showing but were not the only states represented, as can sometimes be the case with IPA categories at beer competitions. One thing I love about the International Beer and Cider Awards is the diversity of IPA offerings mentioned above. I remain a big fan of the IPA style overall, but even I grow tired of endless variations of hazy IPA offerings, though very few things in life beat a well-done one. The IPAs below vary in taste, style and appearance but were all deemed the best of the best in their respective categories. Prickly Pear Lewis & Clark Brewing Company Helena, MT Helper Beer, Mindset extra Pale ale Helper Beer Helper, Utah Citra Starburst, TapRoom Beer Co., San Diego, CA Punk Rock Time IPA, Baerlic Brewing Co., Portland, OR Wastelandia, Grains of Wrath Camas, WA Breakside Kyoto Soul, Breakside Brewery Milwaukie, Portland, OR Featherweight Light IPA, Mother Earth Brew Co., Nampa, Idaho Take Me to the River, Meanwhile Brewing Co., Austin, Texas Albumurky, Boxing Bear Brewing Co., Albuquerque, NM Fukiphino, Redrock Brewing, Salt Lake City, Utah Unfortunately, many of these IPA award winners are regional specialties. If you're interested in a particular IPA, however, you should contact the brewery and see if they ship their beer or have plans to distribute to an area near you. Most of these breweries are also located in wonderful places to visit, so it's a good excuse for a beer-centric trip. I'm also a big believer that the best IPA is often the one that's brewed closest to you. So if a certain sub-type of IPA appeals to you, tell the staff at your local brewery and see if they make anything like it or have recommendations for where you might find it nearby. As I've said before, the best IPAs I've had include award winning brews as well as obscure IPAs I've found fresh on draft in taprooms near my home.
