Akhilesh Kumar Dixit appointed chief executive of state-run Energy Efficiency Services
New Delhi: The Centre has appointed Akhilesh Kumar Dixit as the chief executive officer (CEO) of state-run Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) with effect from Monday.
Dixit joins EESL from Power Grid Corp., where he worked in multiple senior roles across core business functions. He is a graduate in electrical engineering from Madan Mohan Technical University, Gorakhpur and holds a postgraduate diploma in business management (PGDBM) from the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon.
In a career spanning 32 years, he has held roles across domains including substation and transmission line operations, business development, corporate social responsibility (CSR), human resources and procurement.
'I look forward to building on EESL's strong legacy while charting a bold path forward—one that integrates smart technologies, fosters inclusive growth, and delivers measurable impact for our nation,' Dixit was quoted as saying in a company statement announcing his appointment.
As the new CEO, Dixit will now oversee the transformation of EESL into a next-generation energy solutions provider, driving innovation, accelerating the adoption of sustainable technologies and strengthening India's energy efficiency mission.
EESL is an energy service company which enables consumers, industries and governments to manage their energy needs through energy-efficient technologies. Founded in 2009, EESL is promoted by the ministry of power as a joint venture of four public-sector undertakings, including NTPC Ltd, Power Finance Corp. Ltd, REC Ltd and Powergrid Corp.
EESL is implementing the world's largest energy efficiency portfolio across sectors like lighting, buildings, industry electric mobility, smart metering, agriculture, among others, at an enormous scale. EESL's energy efficiency solutions have saved India over 47 billion kWh energy annually while reducing 36.5 million tonnes of carbon emission, according to the company website.

Kumaraswamy meets Gadkari, seeks Centre's support for Karnataka road projects

Cabinet okays Rs822cr loan for Sambhajinagar water supply project
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The state cabinet approved a loan of Rs822.2 crore on Tuesday for the new water supply project in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, following more than a year of assurances from various politicians, including chief minister Devendra Fadnavis. The funds, representing the share of the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) in the Rs2,740 crore project, will be provided by the Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited (Hudco). In May, Fadnavis announced govt would cover the additional interest costs for the "soft loan" extended to the local civic body. The water supply project, valued at Rs2,740 crore, falls under the second phase of the AMRIT scheme of the Centre. The state contributes 45% of the project cost, while the Centre and CSMC bear 25% and 30%, respectively. "The CM, during a special review meeting chaired for the new water supply project for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar in May, assured all possible support for the project. The cabinet nod for the Rs822.2 crore loan would ensure smooth funding for the project," Save told TOI. Although the project had a deadline of March 2024, Save said efforts continue to commission it by Oct.

Cabinet approves ₹5,940 cr revised Jharia Master Plan to deal with fire
The government on Wednesday approved the Rs 5,940-crore revised Jharia Master Plan (JMP) to deal with fire and rehabilitation of affected families. The decision in this regard was taken during the Cabinet meeting under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The total financial outlay for the implementation of the revised plan is Rs 5,940.47 crore. The revised JMP lays a much stronger emphasis on sustainable livelihood generation for families being resettled under the plan. Targeted skill development programmes are to be undertaken and income-generating opportunities will be created to ensure economic self-reliance of the rehabilitated families. The Jharia Master Plan for dealing with fire, subsidence and rehabilitation in Jharkhand's Dhanbad district was approved by the Centre in August 2009, with an implementation period of 10 years and a pre-implementation period of two years with an estimated investment of Rs 7,112.11 crore. The plan expired in 2021.
