Novak Djokovic reveals his health, diet and wellness secrets – how he stays in peak form

Novak Djokovic is lauded for his dazzling tennis game and acute mental resilience on the court, and holds the record for the most weeks spent as world No 1 – 428 of them from 2011 to 2023.

'It doesn't happen by accident,' the 24-time grand slam champion told the Post.
The 38-year-old Serbian spent much of the first two weeks of July on Centre Court at Wimbledon in London, seeing off rivals including Italy's Flavio Cobolli and Australian Alex de Minaur, before
finally being knocked out by the current world No 1, Jannik Sinner from Italy.
While Djokovic has hinted at retirement soon, he vowed to return to the UK championship 'definitely, at least one more time'. He has won Wimbledon seven times, only one short of the record eight held by Switzerland's Roger Federer,
who retired at the age of 41

Beyond his fixation on marginal gains to enhance his performance, Djokovic is deeply committed to physical and mental wellness.

Some of his practices may seem unorthodox, such as drinking water found in tunnels underneath a pyramid in Bosnia for its healing mystical energy.

Field Of Gold on the verge of being outright world's best horse ahead of superb Sussex Stakes

The John and Thady Gosden-trained star takes on older horses for the first time in Wednesday's Goodwood feature Field Of Gold will stake his claim to being the best horse in the world when he tackles the Group One Sussex Stakes (1,600m) at Goodwood on Wednesday. The John and Thady Gosden-trained star is already the highest rated three-year-old in the world but could become the outright best horse on the planet when he takes on the likes of Henri Matisse, Rosallion and Docklands. The striking grey has won three of his four starts this campaign and is unlucky to not be unbeaten, suffering a narrow defeat in the Group One 2,000 Guineas (1,600m) at Newmarket after a successful reappearance. After that near miss, jockey Colin Keane – now the retained rider for owners Juddmonte – took over in the saddle from Kieren Shoemark and has been successful on two occasions. Where were you when... Field Of Gold blew the Royal @Ascot crowd away with a scintillating performance in the St James's Palace Stakes! — At The Races (@AtTheRaces) June 24, 2025 Winning the Group One Irish 2,000 Guineas (1,600m) at the Curragh, he then sprinted away from Henri Matisse in devastating fashion to win the Group One St James's Palace Stakes (1,600m) at Royal Ascot last month. There will be another jockey change for Field Of Gold, however, with Keane watching on from the sidelines as he serves a ban for a whip offence. William Buick, former stable rider for John Gosden, has been drafted in as super sub. 'The track is very different from Ascot or The Curragh but the horse is athletic, he's got great balance, and hopefully he'll handle the track well. He's in great order and we're looking forward to running him,' said John Gosden. This will be the first time Field Of Gold will take on older opposition, with Rosallion and Docklands leading the charge for the older generation. The pair clashed in the Group One Queen Anne Stakes (1,600m) at Royal Ascot last month, with the Harry Eustace-trained Docklands causing a boilover after getting up by a nose to defeat Rosallion. WHAT A START TO #ROYALASCOT! PHOTO FINISH IN THE QUEEN ANNE STAKES... AND IT GOES TO DOCKLANDS! — At The Races (@AtTheRaces) June 17, 2025 Rosallion, who won last year's Group One Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes, is the apple of trainer Richard Hannon's eye, and he thinks his stable star is peaking at the perfect time. 'I'm very happy with him. He did a very good piece of work last week. I haven't seen him work like that for a long time,' said Hannon. 'It's going to be an extremely good race and he's taking on extremely good three-year-olds, giving them weight, which makes it hard, but I think he is peaking now.' Henri Matisse won the Group One Poule d'Essai des Poulains (1600m) at Longchamp in May but was no match for Field Of Gold at Royal Ascot, left trailing by three and a half lengths. His trainer Aidan O'Brien is left undeterred, however, and thinks there could be more to come from his Classic winner. Henri Matisse takes the Poule d'Essai des Poulains (G1)! — IFHA's Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings (@worldsbesthorse) May 11, 2025 'You're never happy when you get beaten, but Henri Matisse ran a good race and we've been happy with him since. He's progressing,' said O'Brien. There are two Group Three races on the card that will complement the feature, the first being the HKJC World Pool Oak Tree Stakes (1,400m). The second is the HKJC World Pool Molecomb Stakes (1,000m), where the Ger Lyons-trained Lady Iman bids to get back on track. She won her first three starts impressively and had excuses when beaten in a 1,200m Group Two on her most recent outing, with her trainer now dropping her back in distance.

China's Zhang Zhizhen says he is on track to play at Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Hong Kong

China's Zhang Zhizhen has said he expected to return to action in time for October's Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Hong Kong – but would first have to get to grips with the rules of the innovative event. From his career-high ranking of No 31 on the ATP list last July, Zhang, still nursing a shoulder injury, had seen his position slide to No 165 this week. But he said on Monday that he should be back in six weeks' time and confirmed he was on course to play in November's National Games. 'If everything goes well, I should be returning in the week of September 8, at the Challenger Tour event in Guangzhou,' he said. 'I am still recovering, [but] everything is getting better.' Zhang, whose last tournament was an ATP Masters 1000 event at Indian Wells in the United States in March, said he had been enjoying the time off with his daughter, who was born last August. HK racing off-season update: David Probert joins the ranks as 2025-26 fixture list is revealed

British jockey David Probert will join the Hong Kong talent pool next season after being confirmed on a part-season Club Jockey's licence. The 36-year-old's licence will run from July 17 to February 17 2026, both dates inclusive, and will join fellow British rider Richard Kingscote on the roster for next campaign. Probert, best known for his partnership with trainer Andrew Balding down the years, is yet to win a Group One race but has snared 12 races at Group Two level, most recently the Summer Mile Stakes (1,600m) at Ascot in July on Never So Brave for Balding. 'It's about improving myself as a rider and as a person, giving myself a little bit of space to see what I want to do moving forward. I want to achieve something I probably can't in the UK,' Probert told the Racing Post. Probert also filled out the same position on another roughie, 150-1 shot Hoo Ya Mal, in the 2022 Derby (2,400m) at Epsom. The race was won by Desert Crown, ridden by Kingscote for legendary trainer Sir Michael Stoute. His best season to date came in 2021, where he rode 169 winners from 1,236 rides. He has breached the century mark on eight occasions, including in the last four years. He was riding See It Again for trainer Michael Roberts and looked to be traveling best when the field passed the 400m marker. The pair kept on gamely but never could quite get past $2.3 favourite The Real Prince, who was also overtaken late by Gladatorian.
