Now, Moreno's mix of 'Warsong' has been released, with the Deftones frontman stating, 'I chose 'Warsong' to remix as it's one of those slow-building, brooding musical pieces that have always drawn me into The Cure's music.'
He added, 'My idea with this remix was to strip it back slightly of its organic instrumentation and bring in ridged, mechanical percussion and some down-pitched vocals aimed to bring forth the cold/dystopic feel of the song while maintaining the core beauty of what existed.'
Remixes by Moreno ('Warchild'), Mogwai ('Endsong'), and 65daysofstatic ('All I Ever Am') only appear on the 3LP or 3CD deluxe editions of Mixes of a Lost World. Remixes by Four Tet ('Alone'), Paul Oakenfold ('I Can Never Say Goodbye'), Orbital ('Endsong'), and others appear on the standard 2LP or 2CD editions, as well as the deluxe versions. Pre-orders are available here.
Deftones recently completed a winter/spring North American tour with The Mars Volta, and will embark on a late summer leg with Phantogram and IDLES on select dates beginning August 22nd in Vancouver (pick up tickets here). Amidst that run, Deftones will play two stadium shows with System of a Down in Toronto on September 3rd and 5th.

Anton is handling worldwide rights and co-repping North American rights with UTA Independent Film Group and Cinetic. Set in the desolate Nevada night, 'The Shepherd' follows a young woman in labor fleeing an abusive past who has her escape hijacked by a mysterious stranger hiding an ominous threat in the back of her car. Reuniting the producers behind the box-office hit 'Late Night with the Devil,' 'The Shepherd' is produced under the Spooky Pictures – Image Nation partnership with Steven Schneider ('Paranormal Activity,'' Insidious,' 'Split') and Roy Lee ('It' franchise, 'Barbarian,' 'A Minecraft Movie') for Spooky Pictures ('Strange Darling,' Chloe Okuno's 'Watcher'); Ben Cornwell, Jordan Foley and Nick Smith for Paperclip Ltd. 'I immediately wanted to see this high-octane, horrifying world brought to life and John is the perfect person to make it happen. After collaborating with Roy and Steven on 'Late Night with the Devil,' I have been looking forward to getting back in the sandbox with them and I can't wait to bring the genre force of Good Fiend Films into the equation.' Nancy Wilson knew Heart had to adapt to survive the excesses of the 1980s – but she didn't expect their greatest success
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Heart's career was somewhat in decline when they signed with Capitol in 1985 after several years with Epic. Although sales of their previous two albums, 1982's Private Audition and 1983's Passionworks, would have been welcomed by many acts, by their own high standards, it was clear they needed to turn things around. Guitarist Nancy Wilson and her singing sister, Ann, were in no doubt that a major reboot was needed and eagerly embraced the opportunities that the deal with Capitol presented. We'll let Nancy take it from here… Heart was your first album for Capitol, and it saw the band undergo a major makeover. Was that part of the conditions on which you signed the deal? 'I think we'd reached the end of the average lifespan for most rock bands by that point. We decided that if we wanted to survive, we probably needed to find a new manager and a new record company and have some kind of major reset. 'We saw the chance to sign with Capitol as an opportunity to reinvent the band. I guess it was almost like the old saying, 'When in Rome...' If we wanted to fit in with the whole new MTV era, we had to adapt to survive. Producer Ron Nevison had told you that he thought the idea of using acoustic guitars was outdated, which must have made you feel a bit uncomfortable, as your acoustic playing was central to the band's sound up. 'I felt a little pressurised, as my first love was always acoustic guitar. That was the element that I brought when I joined Ann's band, the idea of embracing electric and acoustic sounds, much like Led Zeppelin, for example. 'I guess the acoustic guitar was a little out of step with the digital Eighties. On the live stage it didn't really matter, as so many of our big songs did require me to play acoustic.' You had four big hits with songs brought in by outside writers. Was that strange for you as a band who normally wrote their own songs? 'They were great songs – timeless, really – and, of course, they brought us huge success, and we'd already fully embraced the notion that we would have to commit wholeheartedly to Capitol's plan for it to work. We actually spent a couple of days at Ann's house, with Ron, going through numerous songs to see if there were any we'd be happy to record. 'Alone is a particularly strong song that could have been recorded at any time over the decades. I guess we were a little jealous, though, because we didn't write them ourselves. [Laughs]' Was it a slow process, embracing the new technology? 'Those were the cocaine Eighties, so everything was extraordinarily long winded. They devoted a whole day to auditioning snare drum samples [just] to double-up the actual live snare drum, for example.' Did you spend much time in pre-production? 'Yes, we spent a long time in a rehearsal studio, learning all the parts and working out the harmonies. Howard Leese would take tapes home from the rehearsal to work out his solos, which were amazing parts that were as important to the song as the lead vocal – parts that were intrinsic to the song.' Looking back, do you feel the trade-offs were worth the discomfort you felt at the time you were making the album and shooting the videos? 'Yes, absolutely. It revitalized the band and gave us a new lease of life. It also took us up to a whole other level of global success, so there's nothing I regret about what we did or where we compromised.' Heart is out now via Capitol. This article first appeared in Guitar World. Subscribe and save.

Foo Fighters, Chappell Roan & Linkin Park to Headline Corona Capital 2025
Foo Fighters, Chappell Roan and Linkin Park will headline the 15th edition of the Corona Capital festival, which will also mark the highly anticipated return of Deftones to Mexican stages after nearly a decade, promoter OCESA announced on Tuesday (June 3). The exciting lineup for the annual rock festival — scheduled to take place from Nov. 14 to Nov. 16 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City — also includes Queens of the Stone Age, Franz Ferdinand, Garbage, Vampire Weekend, Alabama Shakes and Weezer. More from Billboard Jessie J Reveals 'Early Breast Cancer' Diagnosis: 'Cancer Sucks in Any Form' Big Thief Announce New Album, 'Double Infinity' Neil Young Invites Donald Trump to Summer Tour 'If There Is Not Martial Law by Then' 'Corona Capital is not just a festival — it's a bridge between cultures, emotions, and generations,' Memo Parra, director of international events at OCESA, tells Billboard Español. 'Since 2010, it has evolved into one of the most important festivals in the world, attracting thousands of fans from every corner of the globe to Mexico.' Parra emphasized that, with an attendance of 255,000 people per edition and a team of over 5,000 making it possible, Corona Capital is 'living proof of the power of music to bring us together.' Close to 70 artists and bands make up the 2025 lineup, including Aurora, Damiano David, James, Of Monsters and Men, AFI, Jerry Cantrell, Jehnny Beth, TV On The Radio, 4 Non Blondes, Circa Waves, Mogwai, Shermanology, Jordan Rakei, Kadavar and The Struts, among others. But the participation of Deftones will undoubtedly be one of the standout moments. The last time the Sacramento, California-based rock band performed in Mexico City was in 2014. In an interview with Billboard Español published in February, vocalist Chino Moreno said that they were in talks for what could be their big return to the country. Another highly anticipated act is Queens of the Stone Age, who had to cancel its 2024 shows — including one at the Corona Capital festival — due to health issues affecting singer and guitarist Josh Homme. 'What truly sets Corona Capital apart is its musical curation: a carefully crafted selection that has made music the backbone of the festival,' Parra adds, highlighting that people come not only to see their favorite artists, but also to 'discover new sounds and be surprised.' Corona Capital will take place in the context of the centennial celebration of the beer Corona, the festival's sponsor. Leading up to the event in November, celebrations will be held in several cities across the country under the name Corona Capital Sessions. The presale for Banamex cardholders will take place on Friday (June 6), with the general sale beginning the following day. In its 15 years of existence, Corona Capital has solidified itself as the most important international music festival in Mexico, and one of the few in Latin America featuring major English-speaking bands. In the past, it has hosted renowned acts such as Paul McCartney, Jack White, The Cure, Muse, Blur, Nine Inch Nails, Portishead, Interpol, Billie Eilish, Pixies and Richard Ashcroft. 'More than 500 international artists have taken the stage, performing for a curious, open-minded, and passionate crowd that has helped us build a space where inclusion, social impact, and Mexican cultural traditions are celebrated and shared with the world,' Parra says.
