Celebrity Gogglebox fans 'buzzing' as Inbetweeners legend joins new season

Metro2 days ago

The Inbetweeners star James Buckley has delighted fans after confirming he and his wife Clair will appear on Celebrity Gogglebox.
The 37-year-old actor, best known for portraying Jay Cartwright in the hit 00s sitcom, took to social media to share the exciting news.
'Hi guys, how's it going? We are joining the Gogglebox family. We're going to be watching some great TV and some not so great TV. And you'll be able to join us on Friday on Channel 4 at 9pm,' he said.
James and Clair have already won fans over with their joint YouTube/podcast/book brand, At Home With The Buckleys which tackles 'the wild ride that is modern marriage, parenting and adulting'.
The parents of two children are candid about their 'early lives, years of cult TV fame, having children and setting up their YouTube channel', cultivating over 250k subscribers.
If that wasn't enough, they also have another podcast, In Sickness and In Health which focuses on discussing 'relationship non-negotiables.' https://www.instagram.com/p/DKZ_FwvCanh/
As such, there is plenty of excitement to see this dynamic duo bring their witty rapport to the Gogglebox sofa.
'Can't wait to see you on it jay cartwright you legend,' Chris_leeds_united_woodrow said.
'Omg I'm buzzing!! Cannot wait!' jessica_sellwood95 echoed.
'These two are class. What an addition to gogglebox this is gonna be,' kellyann83 agreed.
'I'm already seated and laughing,' martinezcorno said.
'Literally, the best news!' foxytam1 added.
'Best news I've had today, yous will be brilliant,' Chris_canney declared.
'Haven't watched Googlebox in ages but definitely be tuning in now,' one convert shared.
They will be joined on the sofa for the seventh season by Nick Grimshaw and niece Liv, Diversity duo Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely and Rylan Clark and his mum, Linda.
There are even rumours that Alison Hammond and her son Aiden – who have also done a travel show together – will make an appearance.
'Producers were impressed by the dynamic between Aidan and his mum on their new travel show, so wanted a piece of it for Celebrity Gogglebox,' a TV insider told The Sun.
They continued: 'They're always looking for new duos to appear on the programme to keep it constantly feeling fresh, and, of course, fronting the Great British Bake Off means she's already part of the C4 family.'
James Buckley's wife Clair, also 37, is an actor who appeared in various movies throughout the 2010s including Vendetta and The Comedian's Guide To Survival and an episode of the TV series Zapped (opposite her husband James).
As recounted to The Guardian in 2022, the pair met over Twitter when Clair – who was living in Scotland at the time and had never seen The Inbetweeners – dropped him a message as he was grieving the loss of a friend.
They finally met at one of James' DJ sets in Liverpool, where they bonded over their mutual love of The Beatles and the rest, as they say, is history.
The loved-up couple got married in 2012 and have since had two sons together – Harrison and Jude – and have now forged a joint career documenting their lives.
'Our YouTube channel really took off during lockdown. Because I was in The Inbetweeners, which was such a success, viewers were curious about what my life might be like.
'What they found was far from some celebrity existence: we are from traditional working-class backgrounds and we don't take anything too seriously. People see themselves in us.
'Once lockdown was over, I thought our audience would be after more exciting content, but it turns out they just want to watch us sitting on the sofa getting on each other's nerves!' James told The Guardian.
Their YouTube and podcast brand plays off th eplayful dynamic between the couple in which James gets on Clair's nerves. More Trending
'My favourite thing in the world is to get on Clair's nerves. And Clair is quite easy to wind up. So that's sort of what the podcast is as well,' he told NME about their recently launched show, The Buckleys.
'I would say it's a married couple podcast, but not how you usually see them. It's actually how married people talk to each other.
'We're talking about stuff that's mundane but funny. And when listeners come back at us with opinions, they're funny opinions,' Clair added.

TV sports presenter reveals hospital health battle after ‘horrific' comments about her weight when she appeared on Formula One coverage

TV sports presenter Lee McKenzie has spoke out after being targeted by online trolls who made 'horrific' comments about her weight. McKenzie is a regularly presenter on both Channel 4 and the BBC and has worked on a variety of sports including F1, rugby and equestrian. The 47-year-old made an appearance for the broadcaster's coverage of the Spanish Grand Prix - in which Oscar Piastri claimed his fifth victory of the season - on Sunday. However, McKenzie's return was met by online trolls who commented on her physical appearance on the day and now the Channel 4 presenter has revealed that she had been struggling with 'health issues' in recent weeks. Taking to Facebook, she wrote: 'I've been thinking about whether I should post this but I will as it's not just about me, it's for all women and men too. 'Last month I went into hospital for an operation and I've been struggling with some health issues for a while now. 'As you see on here I'm a private person and I post about my work, not too much about life outside of work. I don't need or want attention or validation. 'But the comments about my appearance and weight at the Spanish Grand Prix have been horrific. I've had to turn off comments on my social media. It's worth saying they came from women and men alike. 'If you don't like what someone wears or looks like on television, feel free to think about it but why send it to them? Why contact someone to be deliberately rude? 'I'm a journalist and I'm good at my job and I'm furious that this affects me. But it does and there will be people out there getting similar abuse that are not as strong as me. Don't do it. 'The good news is that a larger operation that I thought I was going to get isn't needed at the moment and things can be treated with medication. Many people have this. It's not about being unwell. It's about the vile comments from women and men commenting on my appearance. 'My health is improving and I'm back at the gym. For me. Not for anyone else. Think before you write to someone'. The post has since been 'liked' by over 25,000 Facebook users and 22,000 of her Instagram followers. Accompanying the posts was a picture of McKenzie while at a previous F1 event and a selfie from the hospital bed - where she pose with a smile and a thumbs up. Elsewhere on the day, a dejected Lewis Hamilton made a brutal Ferrari admission after finishing sixth at the Spanish Grand Prix. The seven-time world champion is still waiting for his first podium since joining the Scuderia from Mercedes and was lost for words after his misery in Barcelona . Hamilton came home in seventh but was bumped up one place after Max Verstappen careered into George Russell , an incident which saw him demoted down to 10th. Unable to keep up with the two McLarens and Verstappen, Hamilton was told to let Charles Leclerc pass him early in the race, giving his team-mate a leg up as he went on to finish third, and he was overtaken by Nico Hulkenberg on the penultimate lap.

Stirling family overcome setback on TV property show to find perfect home

A Stirling family overcame a house-hunting setback on a popular TV property show to find their dream home. Mum-and-daughter duo Lorraine and Emma starred on Location, Location, Location on Channel 4 on Wednesday night. Hosts Phil Spencer and Kirstie Allsopp were tasked with finding the pair a home in the city on a budget of £275,000. The pair had been living with Lorraine's parents after she separated from her partner, but were looking for a place of their own. They identified Bridge of Allan as their ideal area to be close to family, but were open to trying other areas. Lorraine and Emma wanted something open-plan with a 'decent-sized' kitchen, a sociable space, good storage and transport links. They also hoped to find a three-bedroom home so that Meg, Lorraine's other daughter, could live with them when she returned from Australia. The house hunt started in Cambusbarron on the outskirts of the city. Phil showed the pair a three-bedroom terraced house that was on the market for offers over £234,000. Emma, a law student, said it was 'perfect' for two people, while Lorraine said it ticked a lot of boxes. However, they wanted more space and storage. Next, they viewed a nearby flat. This property, described as 'stunning' by the family, was under their budget with an asking price of offers over £189,000. It had more space, an open-plan kitchen and living room area and plenty of cupboard space. However, as it only had two bedrooms, Lorraine and Emma were unsure. Kirstie, meanwhile, picked out a three-bedroom period maisonette in the city centre for the duo to view. This was a project property and was on sale for offers over £195,000. However, Lorraine and Emma said they felt it needed too much work. The final property they viewed, a three-bedroom cottage in Torbrex, went down a storm with the pair. Located opposite The Inn at Torbrex, the property already had two offers by the time they viewed it. The duo decided to make an offer but were left 'disappointed' when their bid of £260,000 was not enough to secure the property, despite its asking price of offers over £245,000. However, Location, Location, Location revealed how just a few weeks later, Lorraine and Emma bought a three-bedroom townhouse on the outskirts of Stirling for £255,000. This left them with enough money to do some work on the house before they moved in. There was also a family reunion, as Meg returned from Australia to join them in their new home.

'Love Island USA' contestant exits after clips of racist language surface online

Yulissa Escobar will not be finding love in the villa on Season 7 of "Love Island USA." The 27-year-old from Miami exited the show on the second day after video clips surfaced online that appear to show Escobar using racist language while on a podcast. In two podcast clips shared by TMZ, Escobar used racial slurs when talking about men and relationship drama. Escobar's abrupt exit was not given any context on the show. "Welcome back to Love Island USA," series narrator Iain Stirling said at the top of day two, which aired Wednesday. "Yulissa has left the villa." Although it is unclear exactly when Escobar left the show's villa in Fiji, she was last shown sleeping during the first night with 22-year-old Ace Greene, with whom she coupled up during the first episode. Escobar coupled up with Greene after he was already paired up with another contestant, Chelley Bissainthe. It is also unclear if Escobar was edited out of the show. "Love Island USA" is streaming on Peacock, which NBCUniversal owns. Peacock confirmed to NBC News that Escobar left the villa, but did not offer specific details on the reason for her departure. Escobar, who owns a mobile bar in Miami, has not yet publicly spoken on the backlash. She last shared photos from the first day in the villa on her Instagram story on Wednesday night. She did not immediately respond to an NBC News request for comment. During cast introductions shared on YouTube, Escobar revealed she was in a 9-year relationship prior to coming on the show. Her mother was born in Cuba, and her father was born in Missouri. "I could be fire, so don't play with fire because you might burned, baby," Escobar said in a clip shared on Instagram.
