Remember This Child Star Who Played Big B's Younger Version In 70s? This Is What He Does Now
Master Alankar, a popular child actor from the 1970s and 80s known for playing the younger version of Amitabh Bachchan in several hit films, is now a successful businessman in the United States. Once a familiar face in Bollywood, Alankar Joshi left the film industry to start a new life abroad, where he now runs a company reportedly worth over Rs 200 crore.
Alankar Joshi worked in over 100 Hindi films, leaving behind memorable roles in classics like Sita Aur Geeta, Majboor, and Deewar. His entry into Deewar was suggested by none other than Amitabh Bachchan himself, as revealed by Alankar Joshi's sister and renowned actress Pallavi Joshi. Apart from portraying Amitabh's younger version on screen, Alankar Joshi also shared frames with legends such as Dilip Kumar and Rishi Kapoor.
Despite gaining immense popularity at a young age, Alankar Joshi eventually stepped away from acting. He explored direction and production in Marathi cinema for a while, before making a life-changing move to the US. There, he began a career in software programming. After working for two years in a tech firm, he co-founded his own company with a friend.
According to media reports, nearly three decades later, Alankar Joshi's venture is now valued at approximately Rs 200 crore. He now lives in America with his wife and three children, twin daughters, who are pursuing acting in Hollywood, and a son focused on building a singing career.
Alankar Joshi hails from a family deeply rooted in the arts. His elder sister, Padmashree Joshi, is a prominent actress in Marathi cinema, while his younger sister, Pallavi Joshi, is a celebrated actress and the wife of filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri.
Alankar Joshi's journey is a testament to the power of reinvention. From a beloved child star in Bollywood to a successful entrepreneur overseas, his story stands as a source of inspiration for many. Much like Alankar Joshi, several child actors of that era chose to walk away from the screen. Master Ravi Valecha, famously called 'Chhota Amitabh', worked in films like Amar Akbar Anthony and Coolie before carving out a career in the hospitality industry.

Ed Sheeran Slams Lip-Syncing Artists: 'They Do It But Will Never Admit It'
Ed Sheeran called out fellow musicians for lip-syncing on stage, saying 'they would never admit it.' He also shared why he can't get away with miming. Ed Sheeran says he always sings live and can't mime due to his loop pedal setup. Ed Sheeran has called out a common yet controversial practice in the music industry—lip-syncing during live performances. The Grammy-winning artist, who is currently touring Europe as part of his Mathematics Tour, recently made some candid revelations about fellow musicians who mime on stage but rarely own up to it. During a fun segment on a Beta Squad YouTube video, Sheeran was tasked with identifying voices of popular singers. While interacting with the participants, one contestant admitted that she would consider lip-syncing if her voice wasn't up to par. Ed responded, 'I don't know if a professional singer would admit to miming." Another contestant followed up, saying, 'I thought a lot of professional artists do that though?" To this, Ed Sheeran agreed but added, 'They don't admit to it though." When asked if he had ever lip-synced in his career, Sheeran clarified that he doesn't have that luxury due to his unique performance style. 'I can't get away with it because it's me with a loop pedal and a guitar," he said. 'But I would never cancel a show for my voice. I'd always push through, even if it was, like, slightly raspy." Sheeran doubled down on his point, stating, 'I feel like if you are a professional singer, even if you do mime—because there are professional singers that mime, but they would never admit that they mime." The Shape of You singer has long been praised for his no-frills, raw stage presence, often relying solely on his vocals, guitar, and loop pedal to entertain massive stadium crowds. His honesty about the behind-the-scenes practices of the industry has sparked fresh conversations about the authenticity of live performances. Currently, Ed Sheeran is continuing the European leg of his Mathematics Tour, which first kicked off in 2022. He is scheduled to perform next at Middenvijver Park in Antwerp, Belgium, on August 7. Last Updated: Rajiv Rai clarified that during the actual shoot of Mohra, there were no signs of any off-screen romance. Rajiv Rai, the director behind cult classics like Tridev, Mohra and Gupt, has finally opened up about the long-standing buzz surrounding Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon's alleged relationship during the making of Mohra. In a recent interview with Vickey Lalwani, Rajiv was asked if he had any idea about the romance between the two lead actors when they filmed the iconic songs Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast and Tip Tip Barsa Paani. In response, the filmmaker quipped, 'I wasn't sitting there with binoculars, was I?" When pressed further about whether he could pick up on their body language, Rajiv explained, 'There's no question about it… There are 100-200 people on set. Every actor has to be well-behaved. A heroine has to maintain her reputation. Don't you think she knows there are a thousand eyes watching her? So, to be very honest, I never saw anything. Whatever I later heard, I was pleasantly surprised like, is this really true?" He clarified that during the actual shoot of Mohra, there were no signs of any off-screen romance. 'It all came out later. People ask if it happened during Mohra, but it had nothing to do with the film," he added. In the 1990s, Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon were one of Bollywood's most talked-about couples and were even briefly engaged before parting ways. Raveena, in a separate chat with ANI, addressed how her past with Akshay still follows her. 'Once I had moved out of his life, I was already dating someone else, and he was already dating someone else, so kahan se jealousy ayegi?" She added, 'Girls have been changing their boyfriends every week in colleges, but one engagement that has broken is still stuck to my head, I don't know why. Everyone moves on." Akshay Kumar is now married to Twinkle Khanna, while Raveena tied the knot with producer Anil Thadani in 2004. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. NHRC lays the blame on police for Pushpa-2 stampede
Hyderabad: The NHRC on Wednesday said Hyderabad police were negligent and failed in their duty to maintain public order during the "Pushpa-2" pre-release event at Sandhya Theatre, where a stampede in Dec 2024 claimed a woman's life and left her son severely injured. The rights body held police responsible for failing to prevent the chaos, despite prior warnings of a large crowd. It issued show-cause notice to the chief secretary of Telangana, asking why it should not recommend a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased, Revathi, who was killed in the incident. "The commission has considered the report on record. However, it has been noted that there was negligence and a clear lapse in maintaining public order on the part of police authorities, who failed to provide adequate assistance or ensure safety when it was evident that a huge crowd would gather," the NHRC said in its official order on Wednesday. The case reached the NHRC after Rama Rao Immaneni, a high court advocate, filed a petition accusing the Chikkadpally police of negligence that led to the stampede. He demanded accountability and action against officers responsible for the failure. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Unsold 2021 Cars Now Almost Free - Prices May Surprise You Unsold Cars | Search Ads Learn More Undo The stampede occurred on Dec 4, 2024, when fans gathered at Sandhya 70MM theatre for a premier show of "Pushpa-2", featuring Allu Arjun. In the chaos that followed, Revathi died, and her teenage son, Sri Tej, was critically injured. Police blamed Allu Arjun's unauthorised visit and the accompanying rally for triggering the stampede. In a second report submitted on July 14, senior police officers informed the NHRC that permission for Arjun's appearance at the theatre had been officially denied, in advance, over public safety concerns. The actor and the film crew arrived at the venue, nevertheless, leading to a massive surge in the crowd. The NHRC questioned the inexplicable inaction of police, asking why law enforcement failed to prevent the unauthorised gathering. "Why was the actor and his entourage allowed entry despite having no permission? Why wasn't action taken in advance to prevent this unlawful gathering?" the commission asked. L Ramesh, ACP, Chikkadpally, stated in his July report that police refrained from intervening, as they feared any attempt to stop the actor could result in damage to public property and disruption of public order. The NHRC, however, found this argument unconvincing. It observed that public order had already been breached due to lack of timely preventive action and failure to enforce the prohibition order. After reviewing both reports from Hyderabad police, the NHRC directed its registry to issue a show-cause notice under Section 18 of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, asking why compensation should not be awarded to Revathi's kin. Over seven months have passed and, yet, the Chikkadpally police have not filed a chargesheet in court, raising serious questions about procedural delays and lack of accountability.
