Vasco keeper Jardim pays the price after dismissal for time-wasting

CNA3 days ago
Vasco de Gama goalkeeper Leo Jardim's late sending off for time-wasting against Internacional cost his side dear as they conceded in added time to draw 1-1 in Brazil's Serie A.
Jardim, booked earlier in the second half also for delaying the game, sat in front of goal after the ball went out for a goal kick and was shown a second yellow, the referee ignoring his gestures towards his stomach, possibly indicating injury.
Referee Flavio Rodrigues de Souza remained unmoved as the visiting Vasco players protested. Vasco were punished when Internacional then scored, missing out on a win due to a late equaliser for the second league game in a row at Porto Alegre.
The draw on Sunday leaves Vasco 16th in the standings, only above the bottom-four relegation zone spots on goal difference after winning four of their 15 league games so far.

Galatasaray break Turkish transfer record to sign Osimhen from Napoli

Sign up now: Get ST's newsletters delivered to your inbox GDANSK - Galatasaray have signed striker Victor Osimhen from Serie A side Napoli for 75 million euros (85.74 million dollars), the Super Lig champions announced on Thursday, making the Nigerian the most expensive incoming transfer in Turkish soccer. Osimhen's transfer shattered the previous record set by Fenerbahce when they signed Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla on a five-year contract for 20 million euros in July last year. As part of the agreement, 10% of any future profit from Osimhen's next transfer will be paid to SSC Napoli, Galatasaray said. "A four-year contract has been signed with the player, starting from the 2025-2026 season" Galatasaray said. According to the agreement, the 26-year-old will receive net guaranteed salary of 15.0 million euros for each season. Osimhen will also get a net loyalty bonus of 1.0 million euros per season and 5.0 million euros as image rights payments — compensating for the use of his name, image, and likeness in the club's branding and promotional activities. Napoli also confirmed the terms of the deal. Top stories Swipe. Select. Stay informed. Nottingham Forest sign winger Ndoye from Bologna

Sign up now: Get ST's newsletters delivered to your inbox Nottingham Forest have signed Swiss winger Dan Ndoye from Serie A side Bologna on a five-year deal, the Premier League club said on Thursday. Financial details of the transfer were not revealed by either club but British media reported Forest paid a fee of around 34 million pounds ($45 million) for the 24-year-old Switzerland international. Ndoye joined Bologna in August 2023 from Swiss side Basel for around 10 million euros ($11 million). He made 41 appearances for Bologna across all competitions last season, scoring nine goals and registering six assists. He scored the winning goal against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia final, helping Bologna secure their first major trophy in 51 years. "It is a really exciting time at Forest and I knew straight away that I wanted to be a part of the project. It's a really ambitious team with a fantastic history and I can't wait to get started," Ndoye said. Ndoye could take the place of former Forest winger Anthony Elanga, who joined Newcastle United earlier this month and also played mainly on the right, like Ndoye. Since making his international debut in 2022, Ndoye has earned 22 caps for Switzerland, starting all five matches at Euro 2024 during their run to the quarter-finals. Top stories Swipe. Select.
