SARA ALZAABI (ABU DHABI)Tadweer Group's new campaign during Ramadan, titled Naqa'a, which is translated as purity, aims to connect the core values of the Holy Month with sustainability.In a statement to Aletihad, the group said the campaign encourages the community to adopt the 3 Rs (reduce, reuse, and recycle) to promote a cleaner and greener future. The initiative offers various public engagement opportunities, including events at the Sheikh Zayed Festival, family-friendly activities at Umm Al Emarat Park, and workshops at the Lammah Al Bahr Festival."The campaign promotes the values of Ramadan in ensuring sustainability within activities, which contribute to weekly competitions, videos, as well as community engagements to sensitise the public on eco-consciousness.Recognising the need to promote an understanding of responsible consumption and sustainable habits, the campaign also aims to tackle excessive waste at iftar and suhoor."By launching this initiative, Tadweer Group aims to instil sustainable habits that go beyond the Holy Month, encouraging individuals and communities to adopt the principles of the 3Rs as part of their daily lives. The campaign aligns with the UAE's broader sustainability goals and Tadweer Group's commitment to minimising environmental impact. By educating the public and providing practical solutions to manage waste effectively, the initiative seeks to create lasting behavioural change that supports a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future for the UAE," they added.Individuals can get involved in the campaign through activities at Umm Al Emarat Park on March 14-15, from 8pm to 1am and workshops at the Lammah Al Bahr Festival on March 22, from 9pm to 12am, the group said.The group suggested some easy changes people can make during Ramadan to reduce waste."Create a meal plan to purchase only necessary ingredients, reducing the likelihood of food spoilage/waste. Offer smaller servings to prevent uneaten food, aligning with mindful consumption. Donate excess food to Hifz Al Nema. Properly refrigerate leftovers and creatively incorporate them into new meals to minimise waste. Opt for reusable shopping bags, water bottles, and single-use items."The past campaigns have been successful in improving the community's understanding of waste management, the establishment of eco-friendly habits, as well as increasing participation in environmental programmes, the group said.
"Embracing the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle during Ramadan allows us to: honour the spirit of Ramadan by reflecting the month's values through mindful consumption and generosity, protect the environment by mitigating pollution and conserving untapped resources for future generations, strengthen community bonds by collaborating in sustainable practices, fostering unity and shared responsibility, and lead by example for future generations."

The event took place on Monday and Tuesday, with the final day set for August 14, at the Nabdh Al Falah community Amina Al Majed, president of the association, opened the conference by emphasising that the youth are the foundation of the nation and a vital force in its than serving as a space for meaningful discussions, the forum connects the youth with decision-makers. The new generation is able to share their ideas, express their needs, and talk about the challenges they forum fosters cooperation between the youth and institutions, the society said.'This year, the forum adopts a renewed vision, presenting a different theme each month aligned with global events and occasions, such as the International Day of Families, Father's Day, and the summer vacation. 11 Aug 2025 12:17 ABU DHABI (ALETIHAD) The Community Campaign to Promote Sustainable Reading, launched by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) in February to coincide with National Reading Month, has achieved notable success in the first half of the under the theme "Knowledge Illuminates Our Community," the campaign aligns with the UAE's declaration of 2025 as the Year of Community and forms part of the centre's broader strategic vision to promote the Arabic language and cultivate a culture of reading across all age a year-long initiative, the campaign emphasised reading as a powerful vehicle for advancing the core principles of the Year of aimed to strengthen the Arabic language as a vital expression of community identity, conveying shared heritage and values while instilling a sustainable culture of reading, deepening its public appreciation, and encouraging younger generations to embrace reading as a daily habit.A wide range of activities supported the campaign's objectives, including events held during the 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), which welcomed 2,350 school visits. These events underscored the importance of reading for both individual and societal campaign comprised more than 2,000 creative activities, including 250 major events and initiatives, delivered in collaboration with over 100 government and private sector 400 creative professionals and more than 15 universities contributed to its campaign engaged more than 50,000 individuals from across the community, reaching participants in schools, universities, institutions, and public spaces. It will include a renewed and varied range of activities organised across 14 distinct knowledge domains, designed to engage all segments of society regardless of age, interests, or cultural background. Each domain comprises a carefully curated set of initiatives, seminars, reading sessions, dialogue forums, workshops, and other innovative activities."All ALC's departments and cultural projects took part in the campaign's wide-ranging programmes and activities, which catered to a wide range of community interests. These activities included reading clubs, creative writing workshops, intellectual lectures, and dialogue sessions with authors and highlights included sessions by the Kalima Reading Club across its branches, artistic forums, the roaming Khazanat Al Kutub tours, specialised training courses, poetry evenings, storytelling sessions, book launches and signings, children's events, and a variety of cultural programme also included initiatives dedicated to Emirati heritage, artificial intelligence technologies, and educational entertainment through radio addition, video content was produced, and field trips were organised to libraries, schools, universities, and historical campaign flagship included the launch of Digital Reading Month via the Centre's literary award platforms, including the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, the Kanz Al Jeel Award, and the Sard Al Thahab Award. Organised by the Positive Spirit Council in collaboration with Al Raffa Police Station, the General Department of Human Rights, and the 'Thank You for Your Giving' volunteer team, the initiative is aimed at raising awareness among workers about the risks of working in high temperatures, and providing practical tools to reduce heat in the Al Shindagha area, this round of the initiative benefited 250 workers who received umbrellas to use while walking between sites, helping protect them from heat stress. Workers were also given essential safety tips to prevent heat exhaustion and sunstroke, including reminders to stay hydrated and follow basic health Buhjair, Chairperson of the Positive Spirit Council, noted that the Human Rights Department educated workers on their legal rights, the services offered by Dubai Police, and the importance of using the 901 line for non-emergencies and 999 for emergencies. Road safety tips and information about Dubai Police's victim support services were also shared.
