Barcelona return to training tomorrow and it will thus be a special day for not only the coaching staff but also for the dressing room.
The day will only be made sweeter by the fact that it is Lamine Yamal's 18th birthday, and in all likelihood, the day he is officially handed the number 10 shirt.

Over the past year and a half, the youngster has made the impossible seem possible, helped change the mentality of the team and established himself as a bona fide starter all at the age of just 17. The coming season, needless to say, sees massive expectations pinned on him.
Yamal picks his best XI
In a recent interaction with Barça One, the young star was asked to pick his all-time Barcelona XI, including players from the past and the present.
Given the sheer quality the club has seen and the legends it has housed over the years, it is not surprising that Yamal was excited about the challenge.
He began from the goal where he picked Victor Valdes, the only homegrown goalkeeper to have scripted a historic legacy at the club.

'In goal, I say Victor Valdes, because in my head he is the most historic goalkeeper we have had and the one I have seen play.'
Moving to the defence, he opted to go for a three-man backline and thus did not pick any fullbacks but only central defenders.
'In defence, I say Gerard Pique, Puyol and Mascherano,' he said, picking the three greatest defenders in the club's history.
The midfield, needless to say, was the most difficult department for Yamal to pick for the club has seen several big names render their services to the crest over the years.
'In the centre of the field, Xavi, Iniesta and Busquets, obviously,' he began.

Yamal even opted to name an extra member in the department, particularly in the attacking midfield, because he had no space to accommodate him in the forward line.
'I will put Ronaldinho, because in attack I already know who I will put and I will not have space.'
Finally, Yamal revealed his all-time greatest Barcelona forward trio to be the MSN partnership that tore through European defences year after year in the last decade.
'Up Messi obviously, and I wanted to put Neymar because he is my favourite player and as a striker, Luis Suarez, for me, he is top.'

Real Madrid want to use Florian Wirtz in Rodrygo deal

Liverpool cool interest in Rodrygo Rodrygo, 24, is being lined up for a sale by Real Madrid during this transfer window. The two-time Champions League winner is under contract until 2029 - but is set to be offloaded by new coach Xabi Alonso. Tottenham appear to be now in the lead for the Brazil international - with Liverpool's interest said to be cooling. With Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha as left-wing options - not to mention Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike - Liverpool are well stocked in the position. While Rodrygo is a great player in his own right the deal just wouldn't make sense on a financial level for the Reds. Rodrygo's exorbitant costs For one, there's the wages. The latest reports indicate that Rodrygo would command around €400k per week - parity with Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah. And then there's the €100m transfer fee - which Liverpool may have inadvertently help set. That's according to a new report in Defensa Central, which claims Real Madrid are USING Wirtz's fee to set the price for Rodrygo. © IMAGO - Rodrygo Liverpool Madrid use Wirtz valuation to set Rodrygo price 'If they paid 140 million for him… Rodrygo can't cost less than 100,' Defensa Central quotes a Real Madrid source as saying. Liverpool have acquired a player on the up - coveted by all the biggest teams in Europe including Madrid and Manchester City. Rodrygo on the other hand would cost MORE in wages and Madrid clearly feel he is already on the wane. Wirtz is far more of a sure thing than Rodrygo at this stage of their respective careers. Try as they like, Madrid are simply not going to convince Liverpool to pay €100m for a cast-off.

Could Lionel Messi Face Lamine Yamal On South American Soil In 2026?

March 2026 could see Lionel Messi and South American champion Argentina take on Lamine Yamal and European champion Spain in the 'Finalissima' trophy. A 'Finalissima' For The Ages The 'Finalissima' is a one-off soccer match between the champion of Europe and the champion of South America. At the moment those teams are Spain, for its 2024 European triumph, and Argentina, for its 2024 Copa America victory. Organizers have finally penciled in a preliminary date for this game. The March 2026 FIFA international break. This would be the perfect FIFA 2026 World Cup warm-up match, and perhaps it would determine who will be the favourite for next summer's big tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Veteran Lionel Messi still captains Argentina, and 18 year-old Lamine Yamal is the hero of the Spanish national team. Messi is a Barcelona legend, and Yamal is the future of the club, who has just inherited the legendary number 10 jersey that Messi used to wear. These players represent so much in global soccer, and this could be the first and only time that they share the field. Where Will The Finalissima Be Played? Officials have not yet confirmed the location of the Finalissima match. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, England and Uruguay have all registered interest in hosting the event according to TYC Sports in Argentina. Qatar hosted the 2022 World Cup when Argentina won the title and Saudi Arabia is set to host the 2034 World Cup. England, and Wembley stadium in particular, has hosted three Champions League finals since 2011. It also hosted the 'Euro 2020' Final in 2021 and the last version of the Finalissima, which took place in 2022. Argentina defeated Italy 3-0 that day. Montevideo, Uruguay is a romantic option for this fixture. The historic Estadio Centenario hosted the 1930 World Cup final when Uruguay defeated Argentina 4-2. That was the first ever World Cup final. What's more, the stadium is set to close its doors for refurbishment ahead of hosting just one game at the start of the FIFA 2030 World Cup, to celebrate the centenary of the biggest tournament in international sports. Spain, Portugal, and Morocco will host the majority of the 2030 tournament. However Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina will all host one game each to kick-off the tournament in homage to the World Cup that took place on South American soil in 1930. The Finalissima could be the last match Uruguay stages at the Estadio Centenario before it closes to prepare for the next World Cup. When you consider that Uruguay and South America didn't win the bid to host the FIFA 2030 World Cup in its entirety, perhaps this would be a nice token. Europe hosted the last version of the Finalissima, so it seems fair that South America could host the event this time. Will There Definitely Be A Finalissima? There is an important caveat to this discussion. Teams can only play the Finalissima during the international window that falls between March 23rd and 31st, 2026. It's the only space in the calendar, so Argentina and Spain need to be available to play, but the European champion might still be playing World Cup qualifying fixtures. Argentina have already qualified for next summer's tournament, but Spain is just about to begin its FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifying group. If Spain finish top of the group it will qualify automatically for the World Cup in November 2025. However if Spain fails to finish top of the group and enters the European World Cup play-offs, Spain will not be available to play the Finalissima in March 2026. Organizers can agree on a venue and date in principle, but until Spain finishes its FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers in November nothing can be guaranteed. What is certain is that if this game goes ahead it will be a monumental occasion in international football. Seeing Lionel Messi and Lamine Yamal on the same pitch would be historic. If South America hosts the game, fans will elevate the vibrancy, passion, and noise around the fixture to a whole new level.

Former Barcelona forward Carles Perez injured after being bitten by dog in genital area

Former Barcelona forward Carles Perez has been injured after a dog attacked him and bit his genitals. The incident happened while the Celta Vigo striker — currently on loan to Aris Thessaloniki — was walking his own dog, according to Spanish outlet Marca and Perez, was admitted to hospital afterwards, the Greek club confirmed to the publication. Advertisement The 27-year-old's first appearance for Aris came in a Conference League qualifier against Araz-Nakhchivan a week ago after joining this summer, where the team lost but he played the whole game. Perez left Barcelona in 2020 after 13 senior appearances, making a loan move to AS Roma permanent after coming through the Spanish club's La Masia academy. He had a season-long loan spell at Celta Vigo in the 2022-23 campaign before making that deal permanent in 2023. The former Spain youth international was on loan at Getafe last season. He played 30 games across La Liga and the Copa del Rey for Getafe, scoring three. Perez made 18 appearances at youth international level for Spain but has not broken into the senior side.
