BREAKING NEWS Two teenage boys charged with the murder of a skincaremogul's husband on the Sunshine Coast

Two teenagers have been charged over the death of a Sunshine Coast man who was found dead in the front yard of his home that he shared with his skincare mogul wife. Zdravko Bilic, 57, was allegedly stabbed to death outside his Sunshine Coast home three years after he and wife Gry Tomte moved there to escape Victoria's Covid curfews. He is believed to have been stabbed twice in the stomach late on Sunday night after allegedly confronting a thief breaking into their $2.5million five-bedroom home in Warrana. On Thursday morning, police charged two teenage boys, aged 15 and 17 with murder. They are due to appear at Maroochydore Childrens Court today, 17 July. Detectives believe his body lay in the home's front yard for hours before his worried wife, who was interstate at the time, raised the alarm when she didn't hear from him. A neighbour found the horrific scene and alerted police about 7.30pm on Monday. The glamorous couple, who were due to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary next month, had relocated from Melbourne in 2022 to begin their 'new adventure'. 'I think two years of continuous lockdown and bull***t really took away the shine for me re Melbourne,' Ms Tomte, 53, wrote on social media at the time. 'We are both so happy we made the decision. And now friends can visit our beautiful new home.' The lavish luxury home boasts a stunning lap pool next to the open-plan entertaining area and was just metres from the nearby beach. It was a welcome escape from the bleak lockdowns in Victoria, and both said they were 'so happy,' with their new lifestyle. 'I had the pleasure of calling Melbourne home for almost half my life,' Mr Bilic, known as Zed by friends, posted on Instagram. 'So many fantastic memories with beautiful family and friends at some great events and places.' But he added: 'The most important thing that Melbourne gave me is my wonderful wife. We are super excited with our new adventure.' In March, they were still loving their new life as Queenslanders, with Mr Bilic adding: 'What a fantastic time the last couple of months have been.' Ms Tomte paid tribute to her husband in a statement on Wednesday. 'He was the kindest, gentlest person I've ever known,' she said. 'Loved by everyone who ever had the fortune of meeting him.' A crime scene has been declared at the home, with detectives seeking clues about the possible intruder. 'His wife hadn't heard from him and enquired with the neighbour, who discovered him deceased,' Queensland Police Sunshine Coast Detective Inspector Chris Toohey said. Mr Bilic was described as a 'valued member of the community' and his death has rocked the quiet coastal suburb. It had been listed on the Red Suburbs website - which tracks danger zones across Australia - as an area where crime ' exists but does not impact most people.' Norwegian-born Ms Tomte opened her successful HÜD Skin and Body clinic, which operates in both St Kilda and Northcote, in 2014. Det Insp Toohey added: 'As you can imagine, it is an extremely distressing time for her, but the community are rallying around her and doing what they can for her.' Police are urging anyone with information or CCTV from the area, between 11pm on July 13 and 7.35pm on July 14, to come forward.

National Crime Agency officer jailed for stealing £4.4m worth of seized bitcoin

A National Crime Agency (NCA) officer has been jailed for stealing £4.4m worth of bitcoin seized during a joint operation with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), after the criminal he was investigating told the police it was missing. Paul Chowles thought he had got away with the crime for five years, prosecutors said, after laundering the money on the dark web and spending £613,000, mostly on day-to-day expenses. The 42-year-old had been working as an investigator on the case of Thomas White from Liverpool, who ran an online black market for illegal drugs, known as Silk Road 2.0, launched a month after a website of the same name was shut down in 2013 by the FBI. It was White, while under investigation, who noticed someone had taken 50 bitcoin of the 97 he had, and told police it had to be someone inside the NCA because they had the private keys for his cryptocurrency wallet. Merseyside police, which had responsibility for managing White in the local area following his release on licence in early 2022, discussed the theft with the NCA, in meetings that Chowles attended. During the investigation, officers discovered Chowles had stolen the money between 6 and 7 May 2017, two years after the White investigation was over, and in the following five years had been spending it in supermarkets and hardware stores and on fuel and meals, with investigators uncovering hundreds of debit card transactions. It was initially worth about £60,000 at the time of the theft but skyrocketed in value during the time he was spending it. Police recovered an iPhone that linked Chowles to an account used to transfer bitcoin as well as relevant browser search history relating to a cryptocurrency exchange service. Several notebooks were also discovered in Chowles's office that contained usernames, passwords and statements relating to White's cryptocurrency accounts. Alex Johnson, specialist prosecutor with the Crown Prosecution Service's special crime division, said the defendant had been 'regarded as someone who was competent, technically minded and very aware of the dark web and cryptocurrencies'. He added: 'Once he had stolen the cryptocurrency, Paul Chowles sought to muddy the waters and cover his tracks by transferring the bitcoin into mixing services to help hide the trail of money. DCI John Black, from Merseyside police's intelligence bureau, which carried out the investigation with help from the NCA, said: '[Chowles] took advantage of his position on this investigation to line his own pockets while devising a plan that he believed would cover his tracks. He was wrong.' Chowles, from Bristol, was sentenced to five and a half years at Liverpool crown court, after pleading guilty to theft, transferring criminal property and concealing criminal property at an earlier hearing.

Thugs hacked at an XL Bully with a meat cleaver and knife while screaming 'chop it, chop it' after saying it attacked their dog - but their pet was unharmed

A pair of thugs hacked at an XL Bully with a meat cleaver screaming 'chop it, chop it' before police discovered both yobs with their hands drenched in blood. The attack in Lanarkshire, Scotland occurred in January last year and left two dogs - an American Bully called Karma and an XL Bully called Bronson - with serious injuries. Jamie Seery, 36, and Michael Keegans, 32, claimed they rained down the blows after Keegans' own staffy, called Tyson, had been attacked - despite no wounds later being found on him. The pair of Bullys were given emergency treatment and their owner was left with a vet bill of £600. Seery and Keegans, both of Bellshill, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted causing the dogs unnecessary suffering, The Scottish Sun reports. Seery also admitted acting in a threatening or abusive manner and resisting arrest. Depute fiscal Rebecca Clark said both men were had been at the address visiting Seery's uncle and consuming alcohol. She explained the dogs were let out at 2am into the garden to go to the toilet but were later heard barking. Ms Clark said: 'She [the owner] then heard Mr Seery shouting "chop it, chop it", so ran out and saw both accused appearing to punch into her dog Bronson. 'She did not see any weapons but police later found weapons within the garden. 'Both dogs were collected from the garden, and she could then see both dogs had significant injuries, described blood as 'squirting' and could see the dog's brain.' The prosecutor added both of the accused were noted to 'literally have blood on their hands and appeared under the influence' when police attended. Keegans claimed at the time the dog [Bully] had attacked his dog and his knife was there so he 'had to defend my dog'. Scott Jones, defending Seery, said the Crown now accepted he had punched the dog and did not use a weapon. Sheriff John Hamilton KC deferred sentence on both men until next month for reports and continued bail.
