OneWe to launch 1st international tour
OneWe announced Friday that it would embark on its first international tour on March 21.
The band of five will kick off tour, expanding its standalone concert O! New E!volution IV, in Vietnam. From April 6, it will visit fans in North America for over a month before returning to Seoul for a two-day concert.
The band will also hold encore concerts in Seoul. The new dates for the city come about six months after its standalone concerts last year.
OneWe's last album is third EP 'Planet Nine: Isotropy' from April last year but it put out digital single 'Off Road' and special album 'Secret Santa' in September and December, respectively.
WEi to host 1st concert in Taipei
Boy band WEi will host a fan concert in Taipei on Feb. 15-16, agency WE Entertainment announced Friday.
It will be the first time the band is performing its own concert in the city and the set list for the two-day show will include 'Not Enough,' the lead single from its newest album -- seventh EP 'The Feelings.'
The band wrapped up promoting the mini album it brought out last month, after over 1 1/2 years.
The EP featured only five members, as Kim Yohan is shooting rugby drama 'Try,' and the former X1 member is likely to be absent from the upcoming concert as well.

NexZ exudes confidence on 2nd EP
Boy band NexZ is bringing out the second EP 'O-rly?' on Monday, discussing the album in a statement released through JYP Entertainment. The seven-piece act returns with new music about five months since the previous mini album, 'Nallina.' The new album consists of five tracks. The physical album will have an additional track, titled 'Z Side_250226.' The titular track 'best shows our unique energy, blending old-school hip-hop rhythm and dazzling performance,' said Seita. 'There are many points that play up and I could not help but replay the song many times when I first listened to it,' added Hyui. He said his favorite song from the EP, though, is side track 'Run With Me,' especially the phrase 'It's OK/ Take your time,' written by Han of Stray Kids. 'The fact that we participated in creating the choreography makes this album even more significant,' said Yu.

K-pop guitar bands to hit the stage
OneWe, Xdinary Heroes and Day6 headed for international tours K-pop's guitar bands are thriving like never before, with concerts and tours being announced one after another. OneWe, a five-piece group known for its emotional melodies, kicked off its first North American tour on Sunday. Starting in Orlando, the band will perform in 20 cities across North America, including Washington, New York, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle and Vancouver. The Orlando and Boston shows have already sold out, showcasing the band's rising popularity overseas. After wrapping up the tour, OneWe will mark the finale with encore concerts in Seoul, June 14 and 15. Lucy is returning with a series of concerts following the release of its new album. The band will hold its seventh solo concert 'Wajangchang' from May 2 to 4 at HwaJeong Gymnasium at Korea University in Seoul. The concert shares its title with Lucy's sixth mini-album, which is set to be released on April 23. Fans will get to hear the album's tracks performed live for the first time, including the pre-release song 'Wakey Wakey.' Ahead of the concert, Lucy surprised about 1,500 fans with a busking event in northern Seoul on March 27. Unlike other bands, Lucy features a violinist — Shin Ye-chan — in its four-member lineup, earning love for its childlike musical style and whimsical lyrics. Since drummer Shin Gwang-il is currently serving in the military, a session drummer will fill in during the concert. Rock band Xdinary Heroes will launch its second world tour, 'Beautiful Mind,' with concerts from May 2-5 at Olympic Hall in Seoul. The show comes just over a year since the group wrapped up its first world tour, 'Break the Brake,' which started in November 2023 and stopped at 12 cities across Europe and Southeast Asia. This time, the sextet plans to visit 15 cities in Korea, Southeast Asia and the United States. The group released its sixth mini-album, 'Beautiful Mind,' on March 24, featuring a heavy rock title track and six other songs. Following the tour, Xdinary Heroes is also set to perform at the major US music festival Lollapalooza Chicago for the first time on July 31. Day6 will conclude its third world tour with a grand finale of six shows in Seoul on May 9–11 and 16–18. Day6's "Forever Young" world tour began Sept. 20, 2024, at Inspire Arena in Incheon and has included 45 shows in 23 cities across Asia, Oceania and North America. Starting with its 2015 debut concert at a venue that held about 1,000 people, Day6 has grown steadily. In 2024, it drew 30,000 fans over three days at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul and later performed for 40,000 fans at Inspire Arena. In December, the band became the first K-pop guitar band to perform at Gocheok Sky Dome. Now, in its 10th year, Day6 will take the stage at KSPO Dome, one of Seoul's most iconic performance venues. Though its capacity is slightly smaller than Gocheok Sky Dome, with around 15,000 seats per show, Day6 plans to meet a total of over 90,000 fans over six performances.

Onewe marks 10th year with new album, world tour, and a stronger bond than ever
Onewe returns with 'We: Dream Chaser,' full of all kinds of dreams This year is a special year for Onewe: The band has released its first studio album in five years, is celebrating its 10th anniversary and will embark on its first-ever world tour. 'We are thrilled to be releasing our second studio album after five years, and we know our fans have been eagerly anticipating it as well. As always, every track on this album is self-composed," said guitarist Kanghyun during an interview with reporters Friday. The album, "We: Dream Chaser," is the group's first LP following "One" released in 2020. It features a total of 11 tracks, including main track "The Starry Night." Dreams in all their forms — whether they be aspirations, ideals or even dreams one has while sleeping — are the central theme of the album. 'I think all kinds of dreams are embedded within these 11 songs,' said bassist and rapper Giuk. 'It'll be fun for listeners to interpret what type of dream each track conveys.' The title track, an upbeat song with bright guitar sounds, was inspired by Vincent van Gogh's painting "The Starry Night." "I started by setting the tempo first, then decided on the theme before composing the song. Since we performed at a lot of festivals last year, we realized that fast-tempo songs and high-energy stages suit us well," said Kanghyun, who composed the main song. Onewe is also exploring new themes. Leader Yonghoon had high hopes for "Traffic Love" and "Coincidence," the band's first songs about one-sided love. He added that the band had more creative input than ever before. 'This time, we actively contributed ideas, from outfits to hair and makeup. Over the years, we've learned a lot by observing what our fans like and how other artists interpret their concepts. We've grown through that process,' said Yonghoon. Formed in 2015, the five-member group made its official debut in 2016 under the name MAS 0094. In 2019, it rebranded itself as Onewe. The original members have stayed together for 10 years, fostering an exceptionally strong bond. 'After spending 10 years together, we've witnessed each other's teenage years, and we've been around each other even longer than our own families have. The only people we've ever made music with are each other. That's why I want to keep going with this team,' said Dongmyeong. Even when Yonghoon and Kanghyun temporarily stepped away for their mandatory military service, the team's bond remained strong. Yonghoon was discharged in January 2024, followed by Kanghyun in February. 'In a band, we need every member to have 100 percent synergy. So performing without two members felt like something was missing. It made us appreciate our members even more,' Harin said. On March 21, Onewe will start its world tour in Vietnam, moving on to North American stops in April and May before concluding the tour with two concerts in Seoul, June 14-15. 'We are beyond excited for our first world tour. None of us have ever been to the US before, so the fact that we are going there to perform makes it feel like we are achieving a huge dream. Lately, we've been studying English together to better communicate with our fans, and we are also preparing some special cover performances,' said Yonghoon. Dongmyeong added, 'Aside from 'Gravity,' most of our songs have Korean lyrics. Despite that, people seem to really connect with our emotional lyrics and energetic stage presence, which means a lot to us.' As for long-term goals, Dongmyeong emphasized that Onewe is in it for the long run, saying, 'Artists like Psy and other steady-selling musicians who hold annual year-end concerts are truly admirable. Our goal is for Onewe's concerts to become a brand —something that audiences look forward to every year.' jy@
