Actor Alia Bhatt's upcoming production, Difficult Daughters, has been selected as one of the 30 projects for the Asian Project Market (APM) at this year's Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), reported Deadline.
The film is directed by Soni Razdan and produced by Alia, her sister Shaheen Bhatt, and indie film producer Alan McAlex, known for his work on Santosh.
Difficult Daughters is among a select group of projects from across Asia that will be showcased at APM, where filmmakers connect with international investors and co-producers.
According to Deadline, another Indian project in the line-up is The Last of Them Plagues, directed by Kunjila Mascillamani and produced by actor Kani Kusruti and All We Imagine As Light director Payal Kapadia. Kani served as a jury member for BIFF's New Currents section last year.
Other entries include Moon by Indian director Pradip Kurbah, who previously won BIFF's Jiseok Award in 2019. Bangladeshi filmmaker Biplob Sarkar returns to BIFF with The Magical Men, an LGBTQ -themed story. Malaysian director Lau Kok Rui, from BIFF's 2022 Asian Film Academy, is presenting Wake Me Up When the Mourning Ends, with producers Soi Cheang, Stefano Centini, and Wong Kew Soon.

The Asian Project Market (APM) will run from September 20-23 during the 20th edition of the Asian Contents & Film Market at BEXCO.

Lionsgate's 'Freaky Tales' is set to make its streaming debut exclusively on HBO Max in the US on August 8. The film, starring Pedro Pascal and many more, will debut on HBO linear on Saturday, August 9 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Set in 1987 Oakland, Freaky Tales is a multi-track mixtape of colourful characters - an NBA star, a corrupt cop, a female rap duo, teen punks, neo-Nazis, and a debt collector - on a collision course in a fever dream of showdowns and battles, reported Deadline. Others in the cast include Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, Normani, Dominique Thorne, Jack Champion, Ji-young Yoo, Angus Cloud, and Tom Hanks, reported Deadline. The film premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival and was released in theatres on April 4. Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal was recently seen in the Marvel film 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps'. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' was released in theatres on July 25 and features a star-studded cast. Vanessa Kirby will star as Sue Storm / Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm / Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm / The Thing. The film is part of the larger Marvel universe, with Pascal and the rest of the 'Fantastic Four' team set to reprise their roles in 'Avengers: Doomsday.' Pascal has been preparing for the role of Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, drawing inspiration from the character's elastic abilities. (ANI)

The film has been described as a horror movie written by Kelly and Jaime King. The makers have not yet revealed the details of the plot. Drawing appreciation for her role of Sofia Falcone in 'The Penguin,' Milioti has also recently been seen reprising her role as Nanette Cole in Black Mirror's 'USS Callister: Into Infinity.' Recently, she also joined the FX pilot 'Seven Sisters', where she stars opposite Elizabeth Olsen, as reported by Deadline. Meanwhile, Cristin Milioti has joined the cast of Netflix's animated feature 'In Your Dreams'. 'The Penguin' actress onboards the cast of Simu Liu and Craig Robinson, as well as Jolie Hoang-Rappaport, Elias Janssen, Gia Carides, Omid Djalili, SungWon Cho and Zachary Noah Piser, as per Variety. Alexander Woo co-wrote the story with Erik Benson and Stanley Moore and made his animated feature directorial debut with this film. Woo said, "Cristin is an EGOT-level talent. She can sing. She can act. I haven't seen her dance, but I'm sure she could give Ginger Rogers a run for her money. You believe every performance Cristin gives and that's every director's dream come true," as quoted by Deadline. As for the director of 'Buddy', Casper Kelly, he is popularly known for writing, directing and executive producing 'Too Many Cooks', 'Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell', 'Stroker & Hoop' and 'Star Trek: Very Short Treks', among others. 'Im obsessed with it': Director Zach Cregger on why he wants to direct Resident Evil reboot

Washington DC [US], July 23 (ANI): Director Zach Cregger opened up on his inspiration for helming a reboot version of 'Resident Evil' franchise, reported Deadline. The film adaptation of the Capcom videogame is set to star Austin Abrams, and in a new interview, Cregger revealed why he wanted to tell this story. Cregger is a huge fan of Resident Evil games and claims that he has played Resident Evil 4 a "hundred times" and is "obsessed" with it. "Because I love the games. I played all of the games. I played Resident Evil 4 a hundred times through. I'm obsessed with it. And so, I just want to tell a story that feels like it's honouring the experience you get when you play the games," said Cregger to Comicbook as quoted by Deadline. He continued, "I haven't seen the movies, that's just not my thing. But the games are my thing. That's just a playground I just love....I think the movie is going to rip. I think it's going to rip," as quoted by Deadline. Earlier this year, Cregger attended CinemaCon, where he also provided insight into the Resident Evil film he was working on. "There's a moment that comes in every moment of every Resident Evil game where you find yourself standing in the mouth of a dark passageway. One shot in the gun is left," he said. "You know that something horrible is waiting for you in that darkness, that awful moment where you have to will yourself. That's something that every Resident Evil game has perfected and has kept me and millions of other players returning to the series for decades," added director Cregger as quoted by Deadline. According to Deadline, Cregger added that his film, the reboot of the Resident Evil franchise, will follow one central protagonist from "point A to point B" as they continue their journey. 'Resident Evil' is expected to be released on September 18, 2026, reported Deadline. (ANI)
