Fans 'gutted' as final day of BST Hyde Park axed as Jeff Lynne's ELO pulls out
The band was due to perform as the headline act for what was supposed to be the "final goodbye" from ELO following a farewell tour in the US.
However, Lynne was forced to withdraw due to medical reasons, which came just days after a withdrawal from a show in Manchester.
Statements have been issued on behalf of ELO and BST Hyde Park, with the final day of the London event being cancelled.
A statement from the band's social media read: "Jeff Lynne is heartbroken to report that he will not be able to perform at tomorrow's BST Hyde Park show.
"Jeff has been battling a systemic infection and is currently in the care of a team of doctors who have advised him that performing is simply not possible at this time, nor will he be able to reschedule.
"The legacy of the band and his longtime fans are foremost in Jeff's mind today - and while he is so sorry that he cannot perform, he knows that he must focus on his health and rehabilitation at this time."
It comes just a few days after the band also pulled out of a gig at Manchester's Co-Op Live arena for a similar reason.

BST Hyde Park later confirmed that following the news, the event on Sunday (July 13) would be cancelled.
"Tonight's performance marks the final night of an incredible edition to BST Hyde Park and we look forward to seeing everyone next year," a statement said.
Those who were due to attend will be issued with refunds, with more information available on the event website.
ELO fans rushed to send their wishes to Lynne after the news, with many sad that the event was cancelled.
One said: "Tragic news. Was lucky enough to see them in Birmingham last Saturday. Get well soon Jeff Lynne."

A second fan said: "Absolutely gutted. Was flying in from Jersey, had a hotel booked and would have been my first concert. What an adventure.
"Unlikely will ever get the chance to see them perform live again. But I wish Jeff a speedy recovery. I'm sure he's just as devastated."
A third well-wisher added: "So disappointing as we have been looking forward to this for so long. But the main thing is to wish Jeff a full and speedy recovery."

Legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76, just weeks after performing his final show in front of a sold-out crowd in Birmingham, England. The Black Sabbath frontman passed away on Tuesday, July 22, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. His death comes shortly after he reunited with his original bandmates, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, for his Back To The Beginning farewell concert — marking the first time they had played together in years. Ozzy's wife, Sharon Osbourne, spoke ahead of the show about his determination to perform despite his declining health. 'Ozzy's working with his therapist every single day. He's doing really well, actually,' she reportedly said at the time. 'Ozzy's number one thing in life is his fans, so he's working hard to be ready for them, to make this show the perfect way to end things.' In the weeks leading up to his passing, Ozzy underwent intense physical therapy and training to prepare for the show, driven by his desire to give fans a proper goodbye. One day before his death, the singer posted a haunting image on Instagram — a photo of a laminated poster promoting his final performance. The post now stands as an eerie farewell to a career that spanned decades. According to the The Sun, the last known photo of Ozzy shows the icon on stage during his farewell show. Seated on a throne and dressed in all black, Ozzy soaked in the applause from his fans in a photo captured by renowned rock photographer . Visibly emotional, he told the crowd that night, 'You have no idea how I feel.' Following the announcement of his death, the Osbourne family released a statement. 'It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.
