Taylor Swift hit with claims she's copied Kylie Minogue with new Showgirl album

Daily Mirror3 days ago
Taylor Swift's fans went wild when she announced her new album, Life of a Showgirl, but some have accused the Bad Blood billionaire of copying Aussie legend, Kylie Minogue
Taylor Swift has been slammed by some who have accused the Life of a Showgirl star of copying Kylie Minogue. The Bad Blood billionaire, 35, sent fans into a frenzy this week when she revealed her new album would be released on October 3 — just over a year and a half after the release of her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.

The Americana star poses to perfection on the new album cover, sporting a 1920s-style bejewelled headdress and barely-there bodysuit, encrusted with diamonds - and leaving very little to the imagination.

Looking longingly into the camera, Taylor leaves her long blonde hair loose and accessories with diamond cuffs, adorned with feathers, while sporting saucy fishnet tights. It comes as some accused the singer of risking alienating her fans with her new, sexed-up look.

While many Swifties praised the star for her eye-popping new appearance, some reckoned Taylor had copied Aussie star, Kylie, who also posed as a showgirl for her album, Showgirl: The Greatest Hits Era.
Kylie commenced her Showgirl world tour in 2005 in Europe before travelling to her native Melbourne, where she was diagnosed with breast cancer, causing her to postpone the remaining dates.
Comparing the two pop icons, one fan said: "Kylie is the one and only showgirl! No shade to Taylor but Kylie is the ultimate."
Meanwhile, another said: "There's only one Showgirl and that's Kylie!!" while a third person stated: "There is only one Showgirl and that's our Kylie."

However, responding to the claims, Kylie said there was room for everyone, as she took to Instagram, posting: "When all your friends start sending you your Showgirl mems!!! Awww.
"Showgirl life is 'a thing', multi dimensional and so much more than feathers and dazzle.
"Respect and admiration to all my fellow hard working Showgirls."

Agreeing with Kylie, one of Taylor's fans posted: "'So is 'showgirl' only reserved for Kylie or what? Don't get me wrong as I am a fan of both Kylie and Taylor... Was just wondering."
Another said: "These comments dragging Taylor are exhausting. Kylie is one of my faves, but how about we stop pitting women against each other?"

Meanwhile, a third suggested the singers should record together, as they replied: "'Kylie and Taylor should do a collab."
It comes as Taylor confirmed the release of her latest album following weeks of speculation.
The pop star appeared on a podcast with her boyfriend, Super Bowl star, Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason, which over 1.3 million people tuned in to.
an insight into the album, which will be released in October.
Life Of A Showgirl, which she wrote on her Eras Tour and recorded to in Sweden, will feature 12 tracks, including a duet with Sabrina Carpenter. Speaking about the album, Taylor said: "This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant."

Revealed: How NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo made his movie debut in an Australian film as a teenager

Before he became an NBA champion and global superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo made an unexpected appearance on the big screen in an Australian movie. At just 16 years old, the Milwaukee Bucks fan favourite and his mother, Veronica, featured briefly in the 2012 drama Dead Europe, directed by Australian Tony Krawitz and adapted from Aussie author Christos Tsiolkas' novel. It was produced by Australian companies, funded in part by Screen Australia, and premiered at the Sydney Film Festival in 2012. When the surprising role was revealed on social media, shocked fans could not believe that such a big piece of Giannis's history had been kept secret from them for so long. 'How did we never hear about this before?' asked one fan. 'New Giannis lore just dropped,' added another. In 2011, then unknown 16-year-old Giannis Antetokounmpo and his mom make their acting debuts in Australian drama 'Dead Europe' — MrBuckBuck (@MrBuckBuckNBA) August 14, 2025 A young Giannis Antetokounmpo appears in the 2012 Australian film Dead Europe at just 16 years old along with his mother Veronica (pictured together) 'Such an obscure piece of Giannis lore, amazing with everything out there about his upbringing I've never seen this mentioned once,' another posted. Filmed partly in Athens, where the Antetokounmpo family was living at the time, the cameo came at a point when they were undocumented immigrants struggling to make ends meet. Casting agents were looking for authenticity, and Giannis and his mother were chosen to play a refugee family in a short but memorable scene. Giannis was credited as 'Neighbour's Son,' appearing under the spelling 'Giannis Adeto Kunbo' on IMDb, while Veronica was also listed for her role. His involvement in the film amounted to just two lines: 'Quiet, please, it's late' and 'She is dead, gone.' For the Antetokounmpos, the job provided a small source of income during a period when Giannis and his brother Thanasis were also selling items on the streets of Athens to support their family. The film itself, Dead Europe, was dark, confronting and challenging, described by reviewers as both disturbing and intelligent. However, it carried a 63 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and polarised critics, with some praising its depth and others calling it bleak. For Giannis, however, the role was just a passing experience, overshadowed quickly by his rise as a professional basketball player. Within a year of the film's release, he declared for the NBA Draft, where he was selected by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2013 as the 15th overall pick. As his career took off, the cameo remained an obscure piece of trivia, only rediscovered years later when fans unearthed clips of the teenage 'Greek Freak'.

Why Taylor Swift's belly button is trending again after The Life Of A Showgirl album announcement

Taylor Swift 's belly button is trending once again, years after bizarre theories that the pop star didn't have one first emerged. Last week, the 35-year-old Grammy winner announced her upcoming 12th studio album The Life Of A Showgirl, which is set to be released later this year on October 3. She excitedly shared the big news as she joined her boyfriend Travis Kelce on his New Heights podcast. Swift also took to social media to unveil the sexy album cover and accompanying photos as she embraced the showgirl theme, including one photo in which she posed in a bedazzled bralette top and matching bottoms, exposing her toned midriff. Fans have since taken to X to repost the image and recalled when there was speculation that Swift didn't have a belly button over a decade earlier — until she proved that she did have one in a bikini snap in 2015. One wrote, 'OG swifties look at this in shock that taylor is revealing her belly button, reminiscing on the days we joked that she didn't have one.' One wrote, 'OG swifties look at this in shock that taylor is revealing her belly button, reminiscing on the days we joked that she didn't have one' 'Honestly such a funny memory from back in the day!' another wrote, while an X user added, 'Such a long running joke and then when she finally got in on it and posted that photo proving she had one! iconic.' The fan appeared to be referencing the 2015 image of Swift as she posed with close pals on a Hawaiian vacation. The star — who was 25 at the time — struck a pose on the side of boat while sporting a striped bikini alongside the members of the band Haim. 'I literally cannot believe my eyes lol,' one also wrote about the latest album photos, and another commented, 'No literally that was my first thought after seeing this. "Belly button confirmed." A fan typed, 'no 'cause every time i stumble upon this picture i stare at a bit 'cause I can't believe we're seeing her belly button.' Another shared, 'I'll never forget the belly button reveal. She was with HAIM! Was it 2014?' and one penned, '2014 me would be in a septic shock after seeing this.' 'Every time I see taylor swift's belly button i feel like a victorian man seeing ankles for the first time,' an X user humorously added. Another said, 'one of my first thoughts was how wrong it feels to see her belly button,' and one joked, 'I think it's photoshopped tbh.' 'Honestly such a funny memory from back in the day!' another wrote, while an X user added, 'Such a long running joke and then when she finally got in on it and posted that photo proving she had one! iconic' The fan appeared to be referencing the 2015 image of Swift as she posed with close pals on a Hawaiian vacation 'I've been so over the moon about everything else that I had completely forgotten about the fact that we used to think that she didn't have a bellybutton lmao,' a Swiftie wrote. Swift previously opened up about the belly button speculation during an interview with the now defunct Lucky Magazine in 2014, shortly before she shared the bikini snap, per Entertainment Tonight. 'I don't like showing my belly button. When you start showing your belly button then you're really committing to the midriff thing.' The Love Story songstress added, 'I only partially commit to the midriff thing — you're only seeing lower rib cage.' Swift also expressed, 'As far as anyone knows based on my public appearances, they haven't seen evidence of a belly button. It could be pierced. They have no idea. 'If I'm going to get some sort of massive tattoo, it's going to be right next to my belly button because no one's ever going to see that.' In the picture that has recently sent fans into a frenzy, the singer could be seen wearing a sparkling bralette top with a high neck as well as matching bottoms. A bedazzled shawl with fuzzy pieces was draped over her arms as she struck a pose underneath a bright spotlight. Her blonde locks flowed down effortlessly passed her shoulders while a glittering headpiece was placed on top. And on the New Heights podcast last week on Wednesday, Swift also unveiled the cover art for The Life Of A Showgirl, which has 12 songs. On the cover, the songstress could be seen partially immersed in water while donning a bedazzled bodysuit. She gazed toward the camera in the photo, which was taken by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, whom she previously collaborated with in 2017 for her Reputation album. 'I loved what they did with those photos, so I called them up for [this album]. I am so happy with the way the photos came out with this one,' the singer explained on the podcast episode. The star said she is 'so proud' of the LP while adding, 'This is a full send. I care about this record more than I can even overstate.' Swift said that the cover art was meant to show what the 'end of [her] night' looks like after performing on tour. 'My day ends with me in a bathtub — not usually in a bedazzled dress — but we try to keep it decent,' she humorously said, with Kelce sitting next to her. 'I wanted to glamorize all the different aspects of how [the Eras Tour] felt and [the The Life Of A Showgirl cover] is how that felt at the end of the night.' Sabrina Carpenter is featured on the titular track, while other song titles include The Fate Of Ophelia, Elizabeth Taylor, Opalite, Father Figure, Eldest Daughter, Ruin The Friendship, Actually Romantic, Wi$h Li$t, Wood, CANCELLED!, and Honey. Swift opted to not work with her previous collaborator Jack Antonoff, but instead co-produced the upcoming album with Max Martin and Shellback. The Grammy winner recalled bringing the album to life and recording tracks amidst her Eras Tour from 2023 through 2024. During brief breaks from touring, she would whisk herself to Sweden where she would work closely with Martin. 'I would do like three shows in a row. I'd have three days off. I'd fly to Sweden, go back to the tour, and was actually working on this. 'I was physically exhausted at this point in the tour, but I was so mentally stimulated and so excited to be creating,' Swift expressed.

The Aussie treat Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway can't get enough of as she studies Down Under

Princess Ingrid Alexandra of Norway has been pictured with a beloved Australian snack. The royal, who is currently studying at the University of Sydney, was snapped walking around campus on Sunday with two packets of Tim Tams. The 21-year-old was gifted the beloved Aussie biscuits by her local friend, who has been helping Ingrid transition into life Down Under. The Aussie pal was clearly in the know, purchasing popular flavours Double Coat and Chewy Caramel. The biscuits are no doubt study supplies now that Freshers' Week has come to a close and classes are in full swing. The pair could be seen taking a selfie on Ingrid's digital camera before continuing to walk through the university. Ingrid looked stylish on the day in a blue cardigan, white trousers and a striped headband by Swedish brand Djerf Avenue. She opted to go make-up free for the outing, letting her natural beauty shine through, and added to her ensemble with classic silver earrings and chunky rings. Ingrid, who is second in line to the throne after her father, arrived in Australia in July. She posed on campus for a series of photos which she uploaded to Instagram. The Royal Household's full statement from Ingrid read: 'I'm looking forward to starting my studies at the University of Sydney. 'It will be exciting to become a student, and I'm looking forward to gaining new perspectives on both European and international politics. 'I'm sure that I will learn a lot.' She marked the joyous occasion with a series of images taken around what appeared to be the University of Sydney campus. While she is certainly adjusting to Australian party life, Ingrid appears to still be getting the hang of Aussie road rules. She was recently spotted making a slight slip-up when she and a female friend tried to hop into a waiting Uber from the wrong side. Evidently used to left-hand drive vehicles, the princess was seen reaching for the door handle on the driver's side. Her decision to move to Australia to continue her studies comes after she embarked on military training at the Engineer Battalion in Brigade Nord last year.
