The group allegedly used a stolen pass to enter a gym in Wantirna about 11.30pm last night. There, they allegedly took the keys to a gym patron's Mazda 3. (Nine) Police rushed to the gym car park where they arrested one of the males. The remaining offenders avoided capture, allegedly dropping a machete as they fled in the stolen Mazda. The car was then tracked to the Dandenong area about 1am, where it was travelling southbound on Eastlink. The Mazda then began driving in convoy with another allegedly stolen car, both speeding through Seaford. Stop sticks were deployed on Cranbourne Road. The Mazda continued to drive and was allegedly dumped near Moate Street a short time later. Officers searched the area and arrested two males, one of whom had climbed onto a nearby roof. Police cornered one teen in a Langwarrin driveway. (Nine) "We heard the commotion of 'get on the ground, get on the ground'," a nearby resident said. "For it to happen out the front of home, yeah, it was a little bit scary." The second car, a blue Toyota Echo was dumped in Kerry Street, Langwarrin, where three males allegedly tried to flee on foot. They were quickly arrested at the scene. The Toyota was allegedly stolen from Mont Albert earlier this week. The six teens are aged between 15 and 18 and are mostly from the Boroondara area. They have all been interviewed and released pending summons. The investigation remains ongoing. Melbourne

The 50-year-old mother admitted to a number of lies to police on Thursday, as she nears the end of week six on trial before a Supreme Court jury in regional Victoria . "They made me feel loved and cared for in the way that they were asking about my health and I didn't want that to stop, so I just kept going," she said. Erin Patterson will have her case heard in Morwell. (Nine) Prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC accused her of using a "so-called cancer diagnosis" to get her guests to come over for lunch. "I suggest that you never thought you would have to account for this lie about having cancer because you thought that the lunch guests would die?" the prosecutor asked. "That's not true," Patterson replied. Patterson will return for a second day of cross-examination on Friday as the trial continues. ‘Loved, missed dearly': Tears from sister of missing teen Pheobe Bishop as housemates face court on murder charges
The sister of missing teenager Pheobe Bishop has broken down outside court after her sister's alleged killers had their charges of murder and interfering with a corpse mentioned in court for the first time. On Friday, James Wood, 34, and Tanika Bromley, 33 remained in the Bundaberg Watch House and were not brought to Bundaberg Magistrates Court for their first mention. Neither appeared over video link. Members of the public were barred from entry on order of court staff, leaving Ms Bishop's family and media occupying seats in the courtroom. Solicitors for Mr Wood and Ms Bromley asked the court for an adjournment to August 11 – with Ms Bromley's Legal Aid solicitor telling the court they needed the lengthy adjournment for police to prepare a full brief of evidence. The same instructions were sought by Mr Wood's lawyer. Both had their appearances excused on the next occasion. Outside court, Pheobe's sister Kaylea Bishop said her sibling was 'loved and missed' dearly and pleaded for anyone with information to come forward. 'I don't know what to say, but if you've got any information about Pheobe, or the car or anything like that, just come forward,' Kaylea told reporters. 'Three weeks is too long for us, as a family and all of her friends. 'We just want her home. She was loved and she's missed dearly.' Pheobe was last seen by the housemates, who told police they were driving her to Bundaberg Airport from their home in Gin Gin in Ms Bromley's grey Hyundai ix35 on May 15. The teenager had intended to fly from Bundaberg to Brisbane, then on to Perth to see her boyfriend. She never boarded the flight. Police on Thursday evening charged Mr Wood and Ms Bromley with one count each of murder and two counts each of interfering with a corpse in relation to the disappearance of the teenager. Police will allege the pair moved the 17-year-old's body 'on more than one occasion' after her death. Mr Wood's car was seized by police on Thursday night and is undergoing forensic testing. Pheobe had been living with the pair before she vanished on May 15.
