'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Is Nostalgia': Anupamaa's Rupali Ganguly Praises Smriti Irani Show

Anupamaa star Rupali Ganguly isn't here for the comparisons. As buzz builds around the return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, some viewers have been quick to pit it against Star Plus' current chart-topper Anupamaa. But the Anupamaa actress has now addressed the chatter – and she has made her feelings crystal clear.
Speaking to Telly Talk India, Rupali called the comparisons unfair and said the return of Kyunki is something to celebrate, not compete with. 'Ekta ji ka badhapan hai ki woh itni achi achi baatein kar rahi hai. Yeh sach hi hai. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is nostalgia. Hum sab ke liye badi garv ki baat hai ki woh humare channel pe show wapas aa raha hai. I don't understand how can you compare Anupamaa with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi."
The discussion started after Ektaa Kapoor addressed social media posts that hinted at a brewing rivalry between the two shows. Speaking to Brut, the producer said she found the talk unnecessary and distasteful.
'Yesterday I was seeing some videos of Anupamaa having a problem as Kyunki is coming. I felt that was in such bad taste. She [Rupali] is such a big star. Anupamaa, the show, the creator Rajan… has done what nobody else could do in the last seven years. They will continue to be number 1. They should continue to be number 1."
Ektaa also took a moment to call out how often female-led shows and stars are unfairly compared, just for the sake of drama. 'We are coming in for our purpose. To tell our story. These unfair comparisons between lead characters and lead shows is so unnecessary and pitting women against each other, pitting content against each other is so uncalled for."
Meanwhile, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi premiered on July 29, and Episode 1 delivered a heavy dose of nostalgia, tradition and fresh drama. Smriti Irani returns as Tulsi Virani, the soul of the show, and her comeback scene — performing aarti outside the Virani household — instantly transports viewers to the golden era of Indian TV.

Handlooms exhibition begins
Vadodara: Over 28 artisans and 30 designers participated in the two-day exhibition 'Urja' organised by the Shree Maharani Chimnabai Stree Udyogalaya (SMCSU) in the city. The exhibition took off on Friday at the Laxmi Vilas Palace Banquet. Indian handicrafts, handlooms and several other products made by the artisans are kept on display in the exhibition. The exhibition is being organised for the last five years promote works of the artisans from different states and also preserve the unique art. Artists from Gujarat, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Telangana and several other states are participating in the exhibition and displaying their works. This year the exhibition venue has been shifted from Maharani Chimnabai Stree Udhyogalaya building near Sursagar Lake to the spacious Laxmi Vilas Palace banquet considering the huge footfall they have been getting.
